I always loved in this scene how although Nathan was the popular rich one, Lucas had a crowd that cheered for him too. Nathan was king of the school gym back then and Lucas was king of the river court.

I just watched the alternative universe version (season 2 episode 20) and i have to admit that James plays better the good guy then the jerk while Chad plays the jerk much better then the good guy.

He should have stuck with Nathan...but then again, i probably wouldn't have liked Chad and Bethany Joe Lanz together as much as I like her with James. I just realized that James was only 18 when he started on One Tree Hill, he's the youngest from all the cast members. I use to think that he looked really young but when i calculated his age i realized that he actually looks exactly his age.

Luke having the heart condition was bullshit, seriously? I miss the competition between Lucas and Nathan(in basketball), I mean that is what the show was all about from the beginning and that is what made it what it was, after Lucas' heart condition was revealed the show went downhill...

Chad wasn't naturally good at basketball like James was. He was okay but his character was supposed to be great at it. Chad didn't like shooting basketball scenes. In real life he was better at football. That's probably why they slowly moved Lucas away from the basketball scene.

chad was the first person cast for the show. the creator wanted him to play Nathan but Chad felt more of a connection to Lucas. He joined the show because the script was great and like I said he wasn't bad at basketball so he wasn't going to let that stop him. From what I heard, the basketball scenes were really annoying to shoot so they eventually made Nathan the main basketball guy and shifted Lucas to becoming a writer.

People grow and change. Just because they both played basketball in high school doesn't necessarily mean that they would both pursue it professionally. Yes, basketball was a big part of the show and it played a major role all the way through the series (or at least the first six seasons of it) and the boys became true brothers which is growth of character. They had plenty of moments after where there was still friction between them after Lucas shifted to writing and coaching. It's not the end of the world that they outgrew their rivalry nor was it the end of the show. You're entitled to your opinion but just because that's how YOU feel doesn't make it fact.

what i got from this is the characters are based on NBA players. Nathan was Mr.Popular-and-Everyone's-Favorite like Michael Jordan while Lucas was Mr.Cool-Non-Corporate-Do-it-Your-Own-Way like Allen Iverson. their different style of play also resemble those two. Nate is a high jumper/dunker like M.J and Luke is a dribbler/jumpshooter like A.I

They even have the same jersey numbers later on. Lucas is 3 and Nathan is 23 whereas Iverson used to be 3 and Jordan 23!

+Begging Juliet there is some teenage drama and "love scenes" but basketball is one of the major plots in the series. The first and last episode actually end with basketball. And for Nathan (the MJ dunker) basketball is a big part of his life, even after he graduated from high school he went on to college basketball and the nba :)

😂Nathan couldn't get worse only better. Still he did so much stupid shit, point shaving almost getting his child killed. I liked Nate in the end but he was a selfish one. Lucas was always the better man though.

Lucas played a big part in helping Nathan reach his full potential as both a basketball player and person in general. Nathans arrogance cost him here but I think it would have been pretty close even if they were both at their very best.

I feel as if Nathan wanted him to win. In the end Nathan could have easily scored when Lucas was down by 2 but he instead let him shoot knowing he was going to make it. Kind of as a way to lowkey stick it to Dan.

To me this game was pointless. Nathan was still a dick to lucas after this. Like you guys could've had Nathan respect lucas after lucas beat him but no. Like you had a guy who wasn't even on the team beat you and your arguably the best player in tree hill. You still felt threatened after this. I just expected Nathan to respect lucas after this. He totally should've gained your respect after beating you. Just like in that alternate universe episode in season 2. You beat lucas in that episode and you earned his respect. He should've gotten yours after this.
