Thank you for the video. I just wish someone was making 4 way units that fit in between 16" OC joists. It would be perfect for my application.

Most underrated and underviewed mini split video on RU-vid. Thank you for going through these things to consider. What about noise, 4 way vs 1 way vs wall unit? What is the default preferred unit? Ive got a 1200sqft 30x40 garage I'm air conditioning. I dont need the cars to necessarily be super chilled, but the garage itself I definitely want to be conditioned. I'm thinking 2x 12k ceiling cassette units spaced closer to where I'll be working, to avoid ice cold glass water effect on the cars when backing out into the 95F florida humidity lol I've done that with my current home garage and its great to be able to do it. But the cars themselves don't need to be ice cold.

Great questions. First of all make sure that these units get sized correctly for that space given the square footage but not only the square footage. Do you have to use the construction material insulation the exact weather data for your area. This is a service that we offer if you'd like to call or show us a text. The wall mount units are generally cheaper to install and cheaper to purchase than the ceiling cassettes. It's really depends if your goal is lowest upfront cost or if you just want the right thing for the right reasons even if it cost more. When we install the wall mounted units we connect the condensate and refrigeration lines on the outside of the wall to avoid possible leaks and make it easy to service. If you want to text us some pictures of your job we can probably give you further advice that's a bit more tailored to your situation. 360-398-9400

A Mitsubishi Diamond Dealer contractor has suggested not locating a 1-way cassette over the bed, because the fan noise and condensation lifter may be too noisy. Do you agree?

Yes, I fully agree! Although I would say this varies is from person to person. I’ve had clients who can’t stand that noise anywhere in the room, no matter how far away from the bed. And some customers are not bothered by it even if it’s directly above the bed so I would say this is more of a personal preference for the home owner than the contractor’s preference.

@@cleanairheatingcooling4105 on that same note, the 4 way has a pump also, so that's worth noting, yeah? How noisy are these compared to the wall units? The downside to a wall unit is WHEN it floods - it drains water all over whatever is underneath. Please check for my comment in the main section. I'm about to do two 4 way units (I think) in the garage. Can the pumps be insulated so they are more quiet? Or does it resonate through the pan?

@@TheSoaringChannel I don't think that the pumps on the four-way ceiling cassettes are generally heard in the living space. I don't think we've ever had a problem or a complaint with those. But the add-on accessory pumps for the wall mounted units usually create complaints because its buzzing sound is a bit too loud for most living spaces.

Helpful info. I've only seen the smaller cassettes in Mitsubishi, not Daikin. How would you handle the drain lines if you were putting them between joists on a 2-story? That seems problematic.

Great question. Just to clarify, are you asking how you would run the drain lines if you were installing these ceiling cassettes on the first floor of a two-story house? In other words the ceiling between the two floors is inaccessible.

@@cleanairheatingcooling4105 exactly, was just wondering, I don't have that issue thankfully.

@cleanairheatingcooling4105 11 месяцев назад
@@sfbigdawg we run into that issue. Sometimes we can drill at the end of the joist bay through the rim joist and feed the lines that way. Rarely we've had to open an access point along the way. Most often it's doable.

I'm looking to install 2 one way in 2 bedrooms and one 4 way in living area, is it possible to mix them ... when looking at mitsubishi they only show one ways together and 4 ways together, thanks

@@petek6522 yes. You can mix and match them. We do all the time and it's approved by Mitsubishi. Are you working with a Mitsubishi Diamond Dealer contractor?
