For 47 years of my life I didn't have a motorcycle. I buy one old Honda CB750 and now I find myself excited to watch videos of strangers rebuilding their vintage bikes. Is that how this disease works? : ) I'm digging this one week build, Tyler. I watched 90 percent of the Hackaweek CB750 build videos and found them really helpful when doing things to my own bike. Also... If you could do a video about changing front break pads on an old Honda CB, that would be really helpful. Maybe sometime after this week long build.

My next job tomorrow is to start on the front end...then I put your day 2 video on and it starts with you talking about stripping the front end🤣🤣. Really impressed with the vapor blasting results on that front shock. Being able to bring that level of finish to a job must be very satisfying!

I use a linoleum cutter and cut the sidewalls of the tire. I recently did it to 40 year old tires that were impossible to get of normally. But it was easy with the bulk of the tire gone :) Saw the trick on youtube.

Yo Taylor. Thanks for the content, enjoying this series. An observation though.The jump cuts leave a gaping hole and make the viewer disappointed (IMO) There were a lot more in yesterday’s vid...in this one it goes from needing to do the tire to the tire being done. Even if you were to just timelapse or speed ramp through that section it would tell the story better for us. I like to see what you do, and the process...most the time more then the final outcome. Just my .02 cents. I know you’re probably more focused on your business end of things then the actual RU-vid channel though so you probably don’t have a ton of time to put into it. Would have been cool to see the process of blasting the forks. Btw, can I send you my forks bottom halves to clean, those looked so much better!

I removed and replaced some tires on my old Honda a while back, and dont have a tire machine either. I found a pail, looks like a 5gal. but was a bit taller. Got a couple bags of redi-mix concrete, mixed it up and filled the pail almost to the top. While concrete was still wet, centered a wheel over top of the pail and shoved a 3 ft. metal rod down through the hub right to the bottom of the pail and let it set. When the concrete set, it held the wheel securely and still allowed it to rotate. I could lever it pretty hard and the pail wouldn't budge. It will do in a pinch, and so cheap, when you get your tire machine, you can throw it away.

This is my first post. Ive watched all your videos and enjoy them all. Ive restored many Hondas to show standard condition and never had a problem finding the correct silver paint for the engine. Some Honda dealers sell it and you can always buy online. Dont spoil it with aluminium paint, its too bright. Find the right paint dude. Greeting from Australia. Keep up the good work.

Gun metal gray would look sweet on that engine. Darker but not black. Man, wish i could have you help me finish my 1975 CB550F. Did a lot of work but still have some issues and no time or space to work at my apartment. You seem to know your Kraft sir. I have self learned a lot but i can admit when in beat and km at that point.

motorcycle tire machines only work with mag rims. i wouldn't put a spoked rim onto one. they're the same as a regular tire machine but they have a different type of clamp for motorcycle rims. You can ometimes get a way with using a car tire machine on a motorcycle rim but you may damage it. They sell the clamp to put onto a regular machine if that's what you have and are looking to have a machine that can do both types of tires. same withthe balancer, it will also need a special motorcycle style axel to go through the wheels. happy hunting!

I spent a lifetime turning a wrench. Now I'm retired I spend too much time looking at this damn computer screen. Anyway.... about a tire machine for tube-type tires, wouldn't want to do it. Tubeless.... yeah, ok. But the only way to try to work the machine with a tube-type tire would be first: if you are removing it know that your old tube is going to get wasted. On installation of the new tire you can install the tire on the rim (on the tire machine) and then install the new tube BUT THEN YOU HAVE TO INSTALL THE BEAD ONTO THE RIM WITH TIRE TOOLS ONLY!! You'll rip the new tube trying to use the machine. Nice shop... like the fact you have bead blaster and vapor blast.

Taylor, keep up the great work! My shocks are in about the same condition as the one you showed in this one, right around min. 4:20. I was wondering if you could share the grit number you used on your grinder disk? Also, did I see you change to a "polishing" pad? Did you use any product such as Blue Magic metal polish? I am using your series of videos as a reference for my 1973 Honda CB500K2 project. I look forward to your reply! Thanks!

I don’t want to sound negative, but I am very curious as to how you can make money at this... I rebuild bikes as a hobby, but its expensive. I figure you’ll have about $3k in the bike, parts, and labor. For one week, I would think you’d need to make at least $2k on the bike to cover the cost of the shop expenses and your salary. That means you need to get at least $5K for the bike. I don’t know about there in Texas, but I can tell you that its not gonna happen here in Massachusetts. You won’t see anyone spending more than about $3K on an old Honda CB out here. The numbers just don’t add up. Your thoughts?

Hi, you asked about tyre changing tools, the one I use is a max2h evo2. The following video shows me changing the rear tyre on my V-Strom 1000, from about 5:50mins is the actual change, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rE1WoKX-GP8.html I know my sheds a lot smaller than your workshop, so this changer appealed to me because its easy to fold away. Its really is easy to use (even easier if its fixed down?!) and feels quality built, so hopefully it’ll last a lot of years. Hope this helps. Thanks for your videos, very entertaining, keep up the good work!

@jamiewebber8091 4 года назад
Yeah I'm normally not a fan of chrome. But I think these wheels, with the new tires, would look amazing with the chrome cleaned up. Pretty quickly and easily too. I've done it before on an old bicycle wheel that was covered in rust. Crumbled up aluminum foil, apple cider vinegar and a lot of elbow grease. It looked brand new, i was shocked.

You should buy a soda/glassbead blasting nossle + bottle combo so that you could blast the engine outside the garage. Soda would be best you could just clean it with water afterwards
