You're the only channel like it. Keep up the incredible work. Extremely informative, and make us all understand the nitty gritty of fixing your bike. And, you make things so much less daunting. Huge fan of your channel, your amazon, and site. I have a Yamaha Xs650, but I watch every one of your Honda + Kawasaki builds with pleasure. Can't wait for you to hit 100k, cause you deserve it.

Fantastic series! Watching a bike come apart, and go back together in such a short viewing time really showcases how attainable a build like this can be. I vividly remember the day I brought my 550 home, feeling overwhelmed and not sure where to start in the restoration process. At the time, a series like this would have saved my day! As per your request about video length and content, I for one use lots of your videos as how-to's before I tackle the same project on my own bike. Talking through every process is (to me) the most useful part of your channel. I find it very entertaining and informative watching you build all these Honda's because I am one of the people who cannot afford to do what you do. The sharing of knowledge is extremely helpful, and learning from each of your build's what works and what does not (mechanically and esthetically) fuels the collective inspiration for my very own bike.

To me at least it looks as if you made the right choice going full time; hope it's working out financially for you. As to content, and for what my input's worth, I believe you have it right on the mix between fast forward / time lapse and real time work; there are channels that spend many tedious episodes in which each panel is sanded and re-sanded and each wire is threaded and cut so these are available for detail lovers - your pace retains focus and interest of viewers whilst still covering key issues.

I'm hooked too. I've been an auto mechanic, worked in Auto Parts, rebuilt engines and pretty much done everything but build my own race car. My last job in Auto Parts was when I worked for Federal Mogul, which owned TRW, Sealed Power, Bower, BCA and National oil seals along with Carter carbs and fuel pumps. I worked the 1-800 tach assistance line, and that was a lot of fun. But the EPA took a heavy toll on the industry and the DIY market almost went extinct, so I went back to school and started a second career. But I miss the mechanical side of things after working as a engineering technician for Intel. So I stumbled on this site and watching your work has been like a third education. Thanks! For your battery, try it first. You can always wire a second one in parallel to get more amperage to start the bike. Keeping the battery box open and having air flow thru it will help the battery last longer too!

I bought my fifth and sixth Honda CB today, a crap cb550f (1978), together with a nice CB500K(1977) that is going to be restored. Maybe i turn the crap cb550 into a similar caferacer.

Hi Taylor. Love your films. My thoughts on style of content... you've way too much skill to timelapse over the good bits. I'd be happy for 30 min films that took time to hear your thinking, to hear you explain your processes. Learning a lot from your stuff, plus your gret on camera. take time to talk, makes the films even more engaging. I for one would love to know where you got your skills from given you were an app developer. Must have taken some balls to jump from that job to this... tell us more about it as you put that bike back together. Its inspiring stuff! Best wishes from London UK

Just found your channel today and love it bro! I was born in 1965 and grew up in the era of the Honda CB Superbike. I own a red Honda CB750 K and love it. I also own a 2019 Triumph Speed Twin that is also red, so they look great together. I definitely enjoy you taking time to do the walk through and explaining instead of time lapse. I look forward to watching you grow your channel and following you as you build bikes. I'm definitely jealous of you being able to do this as much as you get to. Thanks again and God bless you!

the kawasaki is prolly my fave as well. i'm trying to do something similar with a honda gl1100. i had a triumph 650 with a chrome hardtail frame, and a 6' springer front end 30 years ago. it was cool looking, but kind of a pain to ride though, mostly in in my back. the day i sold it was one of the worst/best days of my life. edit; you might try adding a capacitor bank to your starter circuit if the small battery isn't enough to start the bike. won't take up much space, and will add a lot of juice to your cranking. hybrid super cap/ li-ion batteries are the future of starting batteries, check them out. i refurbish/rebuild li-ion tool batteries as a side gig.

Just a suggestion, I would consider placing the R/R on the bottom side of the electrical box, this way it would get the benefit of airflow. This would significantly increase its service life. I’ve done this on my last two builds and don’t regret it.

This 7 day build series is really nice idea ;) it's very interesting to see your progress on the bike everyday, especially when you've been through those step many times yourself on some builds ^^ Anyway, you should probably invest in a 3D printer, there are fairly cheap one now and they can be very useful on builds. I always 3D print part like speedometer mounts, ignition key mount, turn signals, etc. and it is way easier than fabricating a metal tab, usually cleaner and strong enough for those small parts ;)

Congratulations on 40k subs!!!!!!!!! Can you still some holes in the back of the battery box (toward the wingnuts for the seat) to give the regulator/rectifier even more air flow? Now that I'm thinking about it, oil or anything else on the road may get flung up into those holes. That might not be the best. Loving the design of the bike. I'm building a 90 Kawasaki Zr550 cafe racer right now with the same design. Colors and almost everything.

Hey man great video that is looking so good. I need some advice, I’m trying to minimize my wiring on my 84 virago xv700 but I have no idea what I can loose and have to keep? There is sooooo much wires and a lot weren’t even connected when I got the bike. Took forever getting them out of the headlight on the little rip down I’ve done. I was wondering if you had an idea? It’s mostly all original wiring and parts as far as I can tell so far.

Why don’t you create some templates for your battery boxes so you don’t have to recreate them every time from scratch? I think if you had a solid template for stock ish 550s and 750s you could do the same over and over. Could be something you could sell either the template or start producing them? Maybe make one generic enough to fit universally.

Loving this build! Its so hard to find quality CB550 builds, the 750's seem get more love. So far the only differences to what I have planned for my '75 CB550 is Clubman vs. Clip-ons, I like the black engine but i want to have silver fin tops, and I also plan to get a motogadget m-Unit Blue and modogadget switches to simplify my re-wiring. I've seen a Big Bore Kit by Forseti on japbikespares.com that I'm debating since my engine will most likely need a rebuild anyways since it has been sitting for 10 years while I've been back in school but I'm still a year away from being able to restart my project. Thanks for doing these videos, they keep me going when i get bored studying for National Board Exams.

I purchased those exact controls from 4into1. I was able to use the throttle body, but the clutch side I wasn't because there is no cutout on the bottom half of the controls body, so that bundle of wires is in the way and you can't get controls body to close flush all the way. Not sure why they did this, maybe they assume you're going inside the bars? No clue, but that bundle of wires pretty much rendered the clutch control useless on my build... $40 or something like that.

I'd love to get a new wiring harness for my CB750 but that's such a time consuming process and the old one is currently working fine despite being 45 year old wires and connectors. I just replaced the ignition coils and put a Dyna electronic ignition in it. Are there any other electrical parts you'd recommend swapping out to help with overall performance? The new Dynatek coils have made a big difference, I'm getting a much better spark and the bike is no longer running on the rich side. If anything it's now running a little lean. I'm hoping to sort that out with some carb air screw adjustments.
