Thanks for the video! Very educational. Arm swing is certainly overlooked a lot and should not be ignored. Understanding the role arms play in running can help with efficiency and overall running economy. Also, that background though! 😮

+Skye Good point. Now I'm wondering if it is possible to move your arms twice as fast or maybe three times as fast as your legs while running, thereby trying to disconnect them from the legs??? Or maybe move them half as fast as the legs???

great videos, trying to trail run here in CO on the front range and looking for a shoe that can handle our hard pack with gravel trails (kitty litter on concrete? Can you do a video on some trail running shoes that may help? Love both yours and Running Wild video (maybe it is the CO connection and simple explanations)

As for the heel strike: What is it supposed to feel like when you land correctly with each step? I have been trying to improve my form after learning about heel strike recently, but unsure of what it’s supposed to feel like. Thanks for the videos! I just found your channel and I am learning a ton!

can you help me ? im always getting neck pain in longer runs... i cant look at my feet from pain.. i tryed everything something im doing wrong :/

+mark Check your posture. Do you have a forward leaning head as many if not most people do? That puts more strain on your neck. Do you look at your feet or the ground right in front of your feet while you run? That means that you are not looking ahead. And probably bending your neck forward too in addition to the forward head lean. I want to correct my forward head lean but it takes time and exercises specifically for it and you need to remove the flat desks and reading books on flat desks and writing on flat desks...in other words, remove the things that cause the forward head lean...

"It's really about throwing around your bodyweight..." at 1:28-1:29 Bullwinkle. Okay, Bullwinkle so if you have more bodyweight then you can throw it around more??? So put on some more weight Bullwinkle! And you'll win more ultras because then you have more bodyweight to throw around??? For my running, I have not been focusing on the arm swing. Maybe if I focus on it then I will run faster than Bullwinkle...and have more running economy and OTQ...

Interesting thought about where your foot lands while running compared to where your arms are positioned in the running form stance. Though consider that your arms actually make part of the calculation of where your center of mass is located though, so if your arms are more forward then your center of mass may slightly, and the key word here is slightly, move forward too. Point taken though, as it is better form to keep your shoulders back and have good posture rather than leaning your arms in. It is good to make a check on your shoulder position and keep them back. I have been focusing a bit on that on some of my runs. It also helps to keep your lungs open more. Though I still prefer to move my arms past my centerline. Which many say not to do...including Rocky...

Okay...just realized that I really need to make more of an effort to get my gym workouts in. Since I feel like I've been getting too skinny with all the running that I've been doing the last few months. Too many skipped gym workouts. Actually, not even in the schedule. Got to keep the muscle on, and keep the bodyweight up, so that I have more bodyweight to throw around and run faster than Bullwinkle...got to up the calories too. But last three weeks with no dairy has really hurt my protein intake and calories...no wonder I feel so skinny now...
