Kyle, I’m going to open up to you and your community just a touch. I’ve been a guitar player since I was 7 years oldI am 44 years old now. I graduated high school and had plenty of friends. I joined the Army and that’s when my life changed for the good and bad. Long story short… I know isolation all to well. I’m a 100 percent disabled veteran of Afghanistan. I no longer enjoy being around people like I did. Some days I even struggle to bring myself to play. Music was always a huge part of my life. My struggle and issues are very real but I truly try each day to leave a positive mark. What I’m saying to you and hoping you grab on to and roll with it is… be you,do what you do and find YOU! In the end if you are happy it will shine through to everyone else around you and us who follow your channel. I’m a newbie to your channel via an NK guitar and I’m glad that I found your channel. Always take care of you!

Steven, I too am a 100% disabled combat veteran. From the Gulf War. I did spend a few years with Lockheed Martin as a civilian contractor in Iraq and Afghanistan. Ali Al Saleem can suck my ass! And I agree, Isolation is tough thing when we try to bring ourselves out of it and to actually connect with the word around us. Thank you for you service Brother. Much love! BTW...I am 55.

Of all the guitar and gear channels out there, yours is one of my favorites. I think it’s exactly because you come across as, and ARE just one of us. Just a regular guy. I don’t want it to sound corny, but just a guy that’s a friend that you have a great time just hanging out with talking about two of the coolest things in the world. Guitars and amps. Okay, so it did sound corny, but I don’t care. 😎👍🏻

I’m stoked to see everything you’ve accomplished my dude! I was watching Ryan Bruce’s interview on Finn McKenty’s channel from awhile back, and he shouted you out as someone who was doing it right. High praise, considering how long he’s been grinding it out, and he’s pretty successful by all outward appearances. Keep it up, and I’ll keep watching! 🤙

I remember looking up videos about high gain amps around 7-8 years ago and being surprised at how few high quality reviews there were. You definitely have filled a niche on RU-vid. I'm not really in the market for a high-gain amp anymore nor do I really care about he nuances between these amps. That said I've watched a lot of your videos because you make them fun to watch.

Kyle, your attitude towards your followers and dedication is absolutely awesome. The fact that you never rebounded from burn out by dropping completely off the radar is impressive. You made a very mature move to step back and catch your breath, it’s very admirable. The fact that you are going forward leaning into quality and inspiration as opposed to volume bodes very well for your longevity and growth. Thank you for your honesty and effort, sir. You owe none of us a damn thing and yet you show us respect. Thank you.

Hey Kyle, just wanted to say that I really enjoy your channel and am glad you do it. I think my first video of yours that I saw had your normal introduction and when you said "thanks" you were upside down. I thought to myself, "this should be fun. " and have been watching most of your videos since. In general for heavy music, your splawn quickrod boosted with a clean OD tone and the like, is generally where my heart/ears lean. It's mean crunchy, slices through a mix and just means business. Love that you keep your Amp demos raw and simple and generally have a good time listening to them. I love when you're really digging a tone and can't help but smile and end up saying "woooo!" It's pretty genuine and the positive energy is infectious. We all have slumps with the things we love, and sometimes taking a break makes the heart grow fonder. Fret not need not good sir, you're videos are good, you're a good guy, and people enjoy you. All will work out and be just fine. Obviously this channel is based around the thrash and hard-core tones, and I don't want to encourage you to change that. But by any chance do you enjoy other styles as well? Progressive, stoner, maybe something that's not heavy? Maybe doing demos of other tones and gear on a separate channel might slow down the burn out rate? Personally I play in two bands, one is more aggressive and one, while far from soft, just has more groove and swing. Overall I'm always more personally satisfied when I have more than one style as an outlet. Anywho, sorry for babble, just wanted to put it out there. I hope you're having a great day, and look, if you're ever getting stir crazy or feeling isolated or just need someone to talk to you can shoot me an email anytime bud.

Thanks for all the videos Kyle! Your amp demos have helped me figure out which amp was right for me. Ironically it's one that I've never seen you demo, but I did compare it to some of the ones you demo'd based on your videos. I went with the Boogie Mark V:35. The versatility, great crunch and gain tones, plus the nice size & weight with plenty of volume made it the clear choice for my prog rock/metal gigging needs. I can understand the burnout factor and as a filmmaker I know how much work it is to produce these videos, so props to you for all the great videos and great attitude. Keep 'em coming!

Hey kyle. I gotta say thank you for the content you've created. I had no idea I could enjoy videos like yours the same way I like my favorite TV shows until I found this channel. But more than that, these videos are out there and as long as you don't delete them, they will always be out there and they will be viewed for decades beyond now. You've done more than entertain. You're a teacher. You're documenting things that are important to musicians. These videos will literally be useful for many years. I cant wait to run across one of your videos 20 years from now and stop to recall being here when the channel was a baby. Hell your content is so good, I'm proud just to be a viewer. I understand you struggle with the feeling of making content good enough for viewers. Bro just be you. You're plentiful with entertainment. When you fuck up on camera and leave it in its hilarious. You have all the ability in the world to take the outtakes out but you leave them. At least some of them. And that makes your content fun. Its humanized just enough that you're not "larger than life" yeah I see a dude just like everyone else. But that dude is striving for something more than most. And what you're working towards in the long run is bigger than you. Kyle seriously, you could die tomorrow and your videos will help guitarist and recording engineers make educated purchases for decades to come. Probably don't die tomorrow tho. Please. Point being, you're doing something special here. Sure there's other channels out there that do this. But this channel.. this one is the bees knees. If you're looking for video ideas, maybe you could adopt fluffs rate or roast my rig and make it into your own special thing. Maybe do giveaways or something if sponsors would get on board. I know id love a chance to own a deadwell duality ;) Regardless, keep up the amazing work bro! You're truly making a difference!

Man your work experience hits way too close to home. I was in a similar situation in a big company and had verbally abusive manager. He crossed a line one day and I clapped back professionally and was almost immediately shown the door. I almost went into woodworking after that. I was ready to be done with the entire industry I work in and start over completely and my wife (who thankfully has a great job and could sustain us and the kids) was not opposed to the idea. She just wants me to be happy. Someone needing help in my profession (IT work) reached out of the blue and I'm glad I gave it one last shot because the company I'm at now is awesome with great leadership, respectful owner and just a genuine appreciation of my work and efforts. I don't know if I could have done this youtube thing for real. It's always been nice and low stress leaving my channel un-monetized, free from copyright shutdown, etc. You guys who took this to the next level are doing great work because it's really hard to REALLY know if an amp is going to be a good pick and with how much these things cost (now more than ever) it really helps to hear as many different takes on an amp as possible instead of just hearing one recording of it in a full mix. Like... yeah you can make a mediocre amp sound decent with good EQ'ing buried in a mix with other guitar layers but when I'm on stage, it's JUST me and that's where the men are separated from the boys and amps that sound ok in a mix fall to pieces on stage. BTW, thanks for the Runt 50 content. I (hopefully) have one arriving today. My Jubilee may be on borrowed time.

A thoroughly honest, heartfelt, and most meaningful discussion by you. Infinite thank you! Having lived in Pittsburgh for many years, I more than understand the gross isolation of winter months. It was probably the main reason I left. Add that to the isolation of working exclusively at home, even if it is for something that you love, and it can be quite the downer. I don’t know how to quite put it another way, but I would be careful about pushing yourself too hard when that’s likely to lead to more isolation still. Winter in Erie absolutely blows but trying to be outside and preferably around some people for a few hours each day will really help. By no means to be pedantic or proselytize, but having been through it myself many times over, I wouldn’t hesitate to seek out help for any level of depression you have. Family genetics are complicated things and add that to all social factors, it can be quite the killer. Depression is nothing to fuck around with. And I could be wrong, but I don’t think that any of us out here in viewing land expect you to have a certain rate of productivity. Whatever and whenever you decide to post is just fine in my books. It’s all great stuff. So, take care of yourself, dude. In all dimensions.

I can relate. I am a custom airbrush artist in Canada. Been doing it for 12 years fulltime and I love it however working alone all day, everyday, gets to you. It took me a long time to find balance and even though I have set hours now instead of working 24/7, burnout, depression and isolation is still a thing. Kyle I think this is the best and most important video you've ever put out. As good as any blues lick, song, guitar solo you've bared your soul. And in doing so you've touched other souls. Thank you.

Cool videos, man. I too love gear and I recently learned how to build an amp out of frustration with gear and crazy prices. You talk about guitar tone in a very knowledgeable way, especially in discussion about waveforms and clipping. Great Job! Would eventually love to send you an amp to have you make a video on. Cheers, Dave.

Just subbed, not sure why I havent before as I've watched plenty of your vids. Keep it up you have a good channel. I definitely feel you on the isolation, I went from a crazy party dude in a decent metal band in the late 90s to moving across the country and not making any friends to working at home since covid and now single. Isolation is real my dude, I just play my guitar and got addicted to gear forums and internet to occupy my time. Got to the point where I hated playing and missed out on a few years but I got back into it somewhat.

Usually don’t comment on videos much, but just wanted to show support and say keep up the good work Kyle! Your videos are awesome and you come across as a down to earth and honest person. Try to make sure you take care of yourself and get some enjoyment out of the content creation too!

Respect. Even running a smaller channel, I feel the pressure to get videos out regularly, and I often spend as much time making videos as I do working and running a business which can be a lot. It's easy for it to consume your whole life and turn your passion into something you can get burnt out on. As you said, variety is key for keeping your interest up. Since I'm not at a point where I'm worried about youtube being my job, I have the freedom to just do whatever interests me in music, and I learn so much that way and it really expands my passion for it. So keep doing what you're doing, and don't be afraid to try new video ideas! It's also good to see the human behind it, and not just be a gear demo machine haha

I love your honesty and your channel really rocks!! I admire every effort you have made here and am a fan! I would love to see an episode where you asked where us musicians are practicing playing guitar with our gear! That would be so fun! I’m sure you will get many, many variety of answers!!

The tones and riffing on this channel have definitely helped me to get better but now I just like to freestyle riffs all the time and never really remember them lol. But being new to tube amps a year ago and being kinda stuck between wanting a modern metal tone and a thrash tone watching you dial in these amps has been super dope and helpful.

Kyle, I know this is an older video but I had to rewatch it cause it touched me. I have recently started making guitar videos for my own RU-vid channel, and you are some of the inspiration for that. I love music, I love gear and I love the idea of being able to help someone out there that might need it. Thank you for all the awesome videos, for the inspiration, and for just being yourself. I hope one day I can reach people the way that you do, but if I can’t, then I’m gonna have a good time trying. Much love man!

You're one of the most honest gear reviewer on the platform my man and I think a lot of people can relate to your story, in one way or another. Keep up the great work! I 100% feel you about the procrastination because you're afraid of screwing things up. I have a hard time recording guitar for our album at home when I'm alone because first of all, I personally hate recording...always did haha And second, I've always been a ''live'' guy. I can be a pretty tight guitar player, but for some stupid reasons, when I know I have to record and be 100% ''on'', I still have a tendency to make mistakes because I'm stressed and I hate starting over and over again, to the point where I just push back the recording until I have no other choices to do it because I'm pissed haha I'm working on that, but it's hard.

You do a great job Kyle, I watch this channel because I love music but also because you truly do seem like a genuine human being and I appreciate the sacrifice it takes to achieve what content creators achieve. I wanted to do music full time but as the sole bread winner with a family I work full time in a similar setup to what you explained and I escape to playing music and recording songs and ideas whenever I can. If you can, keep doing what you are doing because you are doing a great job and you bring others joy and hopefully yourself, look after yourself and make sure it’s putting a smile on your face as that will reflect in the rest of your life. Thank you for everything.

Kyle, firstly I wanna say thank you for your honesty with all that you said. It's hard to remember that these content creators that we watch on the regular are real people with real lives. I definitely feel for you in terms of the whole work thing. I recently took a job that on paper is one of the best opportunities I will ever have especially for my experience and education level, but it's single handedly the most stressful position I've come across and it's reduced my quality of life. I've been seriously contemplating on leaving it. From the outside it seems like a stupid decision but I feel like quality of life and true happiness should always be top priority for us all As for your RU-vid burnout, I've been there as well. I started taking my channel more seriously last summer actually. It hasn't blown up like yours but I did get some traction, and even had a company send me some stuff to do gear reviews. It's fun because it's our passion but when it becomes something we have to do instead of something we want to do, it eats away at us. Everything you've said is totally spot on and I respect you even more now for even admitting it, as many people are too prideful to admit shortcomings and such. I'm really happy that I found your channel and besides the very helpful gear demos, I really appreciate the human element in your channel. It makes everything more authentic and relatable. Good luck with everything man, and never stop trying to find your happiness. You deserve it

Thank you even for providing the amateur guitar players a place to go and feel enriched with wonderful gear. Good work on the channel, me and my buddy’s always have great things to say when brought up in conversation. THANKS! Haha

Kyle, I hope that you know just how much your viewers love you: not just because you share a commonality in life, but because you’re real, and you’re a fellow person, a brother. You may never get to meet most of us, which is unfortunate, but please know that your value isn’t found in what you’re able to create; it’s who you are. You are inherently and intrinsically valuable, and I think we all understand that. I believe that this video that you shared with us is a very necessary window into your world, a world most of is do not know. Thank you for being real with us, brother. I pray that God blesses you in your life and that you know Him more and more.

Thanks for sharing this dude .. I’ve made some videos of my own just tracking and recording myself playing and it is very time consuming and tedious work. It’s fun but I totally understand how you could get burned out on it. Especially when you’re cooped up in the house for extended periods of time. I’ve gotten overwhelmed with work and the grind of daily life and have been trying to ignite my desire to play and write music but It’s difficult at times. I think it sucks that the dream of being a professional musician in heavy music is virtually not an option for most metal bands. I got off the subject but I wanted to let you know that I enjoy your channel, there are few channels I watch these days. Ola, fluff, Rabea, stay metal ray and your channel are pretty much the only ones I pay attention to anymore. And your channel has been my number 1 for a while now. Just wanted to share that, don’t apologize for needing a break. Do what is best for you personally and the content will feel more enjoyable ! Thanks for what you do !
