@@tirthgajera606 Donut and chair tutorial by Blender Guru and after that I started doing my own thing. But I watch a lot of tutorials all the time, some of my favs are from Default Cube/CGMatter, Bad Normals and Kristof Dedene!
Your first character is like my one millionth character(probably not even that). Your work is very high quality. I cannot imagine what 2 years of blender is going to look like. Already looking forward to that.
@@KingdomCre8tive actually you can be this good in a year, maybe less, but you need a pretty good PC in order to make the animations and a lot of time to learn.
I’m starting with Blender but I was doing a bedroom it took me 4 days to finished and I put a lot of time into but in the end it was all worth it and now I’m learning new stuff it is so fun now that I can’t stop. Keep up the good work.
Although not a native blender user but disciplined in many other 3d packages, I also started there. Been doing it for 16 years now, and at a point it becomes muscle memory. The things I can create in a day now would have taken me weeks if not months a few years ago.
I am a new blender user, learning from books for 2 months. and after that, I was confused, because I didn't know where my style was. for example, whether in game characters or assets or the like.
I'm starting learning to use Blender today, and your video definitely made me even more excited ! that is crazy the evolution you've been through in only 1 year ! really impressive, keep it up 😁
That's because it is and he prolly has 10 years put in. He's trolling everyone who thinks he had zero experience. Such bull crap. It's like a software programmer saying they coded the front end and backend of a large website in 1 year.
Wow! Congrats on your progress brother. I started working with Blender about 2 years ago, but at same time wanted to learn 2d drawing, animation and video-editing so i feel my progress has not gone so quick and impressive as yours but i'm making some progress too lol. Keep up the amazing work!
Thanks Marco (yes, I may have had a look at your videos ;)! Big fan of the animated 2D card into 3D, I've always wanted to try do something similar and I think you smashed it honestly! And yeah, I was lucky to already have video editing under my belt so I could just focus solely on the 3D stuff! Also funnily enough, I can't draw at all so rn I'm actually using blender to create art that looks 2D (an example would be my latest Shorts video on my channel) haha
@@TheAimDown thanks a lot for your compliment brother, really appreciate it!🙏🏼 Gonna check your shorts straightforward and you just got yourself a new subscriber as a way to support 💪🏼😁
I really like this comment a ton since I'm starting to learn blender and also 2d drawing for animation. I want my work to be like ufotable because the way they incorporate cgi with 2d is incredible. Do you have any tips for balancing the improvement with blender, drawing, and animation?
@@azpectral8500 hey bro, the only tips i can give you is this: when you start feeling frustrated working with Blender/video editing because of the complexity of the scenario you might encounter, don't be too stubburn and bask in frustration. Instead move to drawing and the study of 2d illustrations which can still be a challenge, but far more relaxing and definitely less frustrating 💪🏼😅 and of course never give up, as eventually with commitment you'll get there. We're all on the same path brother 🤗
I'm a gamer by nature. Love logic and building stuff. I have been aware of blender for years, but recently as a joke to my boss, i thought wouldn't it be cool to have a metaverse type place for the restaurants that we work at in South africa. So i started playing around with building a mesh model of one of our shops and the bug for using blender bit me hard. It's always been a fascination of mine to combine internet shopping, 3d internet places for the next gen of the metaverse. Step 1 has been taken. Thank you for sharing your journey.
I just watched this in early 2024. I appreciate how you took your love for Pokémon and used it as a seed for your creative endeavors. Pokémon isn't my thing, mind you, but I can still appreciate the spark it gave you to push forward from project to project.
its always amazing to see these one year progression videos, People make the things they like the most and its wholesome to see that. meanwhile i am over here learning sculpting for almost 6 months and made 0 new renders, i might just take a break of a month or 2 and then hop back in. Keep up the good work Edit: i am learning Sculpting mainly because i have made myself i guess a "rule" to not use someone else's work at all like using their 3D models in my render, no matter how minor of a detail it is i try to do it all myself. not that there is anything wrong with it. Beside for texture and while doing animations i use some 3D models that i find online since the main focus of that is animation. but rn i am at a point where i lost all motivation so i am going to take a break
I think having a rule like that is great when making your own renders. I had a rule just like that in one of the renders in this video (the city corner one, with the bridge). While it wouldn't be appreciated as much in a work environment, I definitely feel like it helped me improve quicker as I was forced to model everything myself!
@@TheAimDown It helps a lot with learning and you get to appreciate the art more. These types of videos actually give me more motivation to continue doing 3D. i am most likely gonna learn Geometry nodes to do environment/Landscape type renders since doing all of it by hand is kind of hard. Best of luck with your work, maybe soon i'll upload my own blender progression video.
@@samyanide as someone who works as a 3d artist in the industry. I would say your approach is only useful if your goal is to be a generalist, which is a harder role to acquire. If you want to be an animator for example. Do not waste your time learning to sculpt. You’d want to spend time learning solely animation, then rigging as it compliments the role nicely. The same goes for other areas. You should practice 3d with a clear path towards your end goal, and learn the skills that compliment it.
thank you so much man, I really appreciate it! Keep it up and you'll get there, there's no doubt in my mind! and yooo, honestly, creating pokemon stuff in 3D has helped me a ton, I feel like. It's hugely nostalgic to me and being passionate about what you create is definitely the key to success. Shameless plug but if you liked my entries in pwnishers challenges then feel free to have a look at instagram.com/ricksartd/. It's what I'm currently working on when it comes to 3D and it's still pokemon related lol
I hope to be this good some day. Currently it's like pulling teeth with my donut tutorial, but I'm not giving up on it! My pc will always be there when I need a break
Bro honestly i have been slacking 8n blender thinking i cant do it but for some reasons i am really hooked by watching your video. Thank yiu so much i hope to become like you
The walking loop could have easily fit into 1980's tech on TV. Once you got to the ocean though, I got the sense that you really saw the possibilities. The Gameboy Ad though was the cleanest. Well done.
Thank you! Yeah, it's all youtube tbh. Tutorials from Blender Guru, CGMatter/Default Cube, Bad Normals, Polyfjord, Kristof Dedene, Pierrick Picaut for the most part!
I can just imagine how much better i could be if i didnt have the worst computer ever to work with. Blender for me when i animate goes at 4 frames per second at worst and 10 at best. It destroys my motivation to animate at all sometimes. I just hope 1 day i can afford something better so i can really show my passion. Beautiful video, your work is inspiring!
@@Kaaos_ no. I use CATS for animation and the poly count and bones aren't alot. Ive tried animating an official resident evil model once and they had a ridiculous amount of poly's. The models i use are fairly simple. Its when i add another simple model that it starts to drop in frames. Or if i add a scene
The milk carton one I didn't use a tutorial for but the tutorial for the ocean can be found here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-n8PSS5HqC-Q.html :)
I quit Blender after failing to make a donut ;-; but I've still always wanted to learn 3D art. Right now I'm learning Godot and 2D art, but after watching this video, I'm gonna try to learn Blender again
I'm glad to hear you're gonna give Blender another try! Everyone learns at a different pace so just keep at it and you'll see improvement, I promise you. Funnily enough I am currently using Blender to create 2D (I guess 2.5D?) art! Good luck in your future 3D endeavours!! If you ever feel stuck again then feel free to contact me and maybe I can be of help. Easiest would be on instagram ( instagram.com/ricksartd/ ) I think.
The Donut tutorial made me quit at first too. But since I use Blender only for making game assets, I think the infamous donut tutorial is waaaay too much for that. I recommend you the game assets tutorials from Grant Abbit. He has some very nice tutorials on creating game assets with handpainted materials. This made me fall in love with blender and my imporvements skyrocketed ever since :) Maybe this will kindle your interest too.
@@TheAimDown I'm sorry for the late response, but thank you! I wanna combine 2D pixel art with 3D art! I think there's a name for it but I can't remember... I really wouldn't wanna bother you but if you really don't mind, I'll try coming to you if I even get stuck with something. Thank for not only replying but offering help when I need it, that's very kind!
@@TheAimDown brother plz tell me about 3d modelling. Is this skill have alot scope and how much average time should it take to learn it properly for earning
Even if you already had 10 years of experience and this isnt a legit beginner to end type of video, oh well. Its still amazing what people can do in any capacity. I just downloaded blender last night and started on watching the donut tutorial, but havent gotten through it yet. Id love to be able to quit my current job and start making animations
Inspirational 🥺 Was feeling less motivated since I am only starting but after seeing your video I got motivated again. thanks for the video and I will make one year progress video like you Any tips for beginners
Bruh! one word : Inspired! Blender has just been collecting dust on my computer forever, had no more interest until about 30 seconds into this video ... Now im gonna binge tutorials. Thx !
hey im watching this to get myself more motivated in blender, i started a couple of days ago just roaming around lost in the ui but i really want to make so many projects just like you
Thats anazing. My first MONTH of blender was just wondering what the hell blender is, gave up for two years, then re-tried, managed to get some trashy looking blocks bunched together, gave up again for twi months, got back in and found a really useful video that taught me so much a few days ago, though I still don’t think I can get to the doughnut
Awesome! The one thing id say is ive seen a few of these types of videos and they all are mainly just people making copies of stuff that exists. I want to see one where its all original ideas. Like the milk guy and the looping video was unique.
Wow, that's amazing! If I were to make a progression video I'd show that I made half a donut in 2020, and then made half a donut again in 2023 as though I had never even seen Blender before
I clicked on this video to see the Halo content then 20 seconds in I completely forgot because I was distracted by all the other stuff ya did XD good job!!!
Im starting mine. I just downloaded like 2 days ago and going to make my donut soon. Its all very new to me but I am so excited. Ive always wanted to do stuff like this. Awesome vid! Inspiring!!!
I got it today and just finished making some notes on features I'll probably need in future projects and the hotkeys. Bout to start my donut journey tomorrow
