That was a very upfront and enlightening discussion Guys, thanks for that. I can understand people asking those questions, as you're both seemingly relaxed about what you do, which portrays the feeling that you have confidence, organisational abilities, and a good understanding of your lifestyle. You both look healthy and happy, so it's certainly agreeing with you. Take care on your travels and stay safe, Cheers.

On relationships, seems like you two have the basics of lots of communication. From following others in VanLife vids, it seems like when you move to the next chapter you just need to both be open about it. Several couples seem to have fractured at that point. On the time, don't quit too early, once you get land, a job etc it seems to eat your time in a different way. It's not bad, just different. And there will be another life transition when that happens. It is worth planning for in your head that you will have issues when it happens and it's ok. BTW, I really appreciate your openness and willingness to talk openly about everything. You both are a joy to watch and listen to. PS If you run into financial trouble set up a go-fund-me I'm pretty sure that all your viewers would be glad to help you out of whatever happens.

Thanks folks...that was an interesting chat. Having been following you for a while now, it is great to see the relationship you two have.I enjoy following a number of young couples both here in Australia and overseas, and the way they are creating such interesting lives as they travel to so many amazing places. Makes me wish I was in my 20's again..ha ha . You will love WA...and I was pleased to hear you indicate you plan to spend a lot of time there, because there is so much to see and enjoy. Looking forward to your ongoing journeys. Thanks. Stay safe and well.

I see lots of people on Instagram using your photos and I finally found your Instagram account and then followed that to RU-vid and subscribed. Makes me sound like a stalker 🤣. I drove a pop-top van across Australia back in 92-93 (so long ago) I visited a lot of places I see in your videos. Australia has changed a lot. Looking forward to your new adventures.

@@dk5245 That'll be awesome for you! Glad to have inspired a little bit. It's a beautiful part of the country when there at the right time of year. Try and get up north at the fringe of the wet and dry season (May/June) as you want to make sure the swimming holes and waterfall still have water on them. You may get a couple of we days but you'll get to see it when it's a little quieter and hopefully properly flowing :)

One thing to consider, is that with these old vans, the air cooled engines seem to last about 120,000 miles to 160,000 before the third cylinder rings fail and the engine needs to be rebuilt. I'm on my third one so something to watch. BTW when the engine went I was able to drive home even with the engine working poorly. So I wasn't stranded. I think the external oil cooler helps extend the life but they are not Honda or Subuaru engines which can go 200K miles.
@KendallandGlenn
@KendallandGlenn 3 года назад
Thanks for the advice Gary! We've had a rebuild at the start of our trip and are keeping on top of vehicle maintenance pretty well I think :)

Love your videos! We are about to fit out a 2005 Kia Pregio and you van build ideas have given me heaps of ideas for ours. Just out of curiosity, what size is your bed? The internal dimensions of the Pregio are similar to what Vance would be (minus the poptop and the rear engine bay) so we are trying to figure out what width we might be willing to go with and still have a little side storage/shelf similar to what you have. Keep enjoying the travel, you'll love WA, need to get the hubby over there one day!
@KendallandGlenn
@KendallandGlenn 3 года назад
Thats awesome, and thank you! Our bed is a little bit smaller than a double bed, both in length and width and we still manage nicely! Hope that helps :)

Two together 24/7 works, but when a 3rd person is introduced that one of the two fancies, or , the other suspects that the other fancies, then the shit starts to hit the fan.

Hey Guys! Love the video! Also, how do you secure your boards on the roof, so they dont get stolen? I'm about to buy my first board and can't fit it inside my van but Im worried someone will steal it if I have it on the roof. Thanks, Jess
@KendallandGlenn
@KendallandGlenn 3 года назад
Thanks Jess! We use 'kanulok' lockable tie downs with wire within them. Technically people could still use bolt cutters to get them off but it would make quite a scene. Particularly as it's very hard to actually reach the boards without it being open and without something to stand on. Hope that helps :)

Oh, one other resource for overnight help in a small town, is to look for a local church and talk to the minister. These are people who are hard wired to help others. So asking for a safe place to park should be easy for them. The sign board in front of many churches will have the minister's name on it. And all the close neighbors will know where they live. Don't ask anyone but the minister for help. "Church ladies" are by inclination do not want to help or let you bother the minister and are gate keepers. Ask them only where the minister is.
