I have the same muffler on the same quad, take out the spark arrestor, drill 8 5/8" holes through the baffle and reinstall the spark arrestor. It gets rid of that raspy metallic noise and gives it a nice tone. Not too loud either. Nice quad, love the build!
I bought a 2017 450 in 2018 and got a good deal. Yeah with my buddies all getting machines after me I get some grief (I sent them your video and told them to watch the first minute and a half because I'm a gluten for punishment). I'm totally fine with it. In snow I really like the big power (I have an 800 and waiting for the new 850 I snow checked). If I were to get a new one I'd probably go with a bigger machine but I'm not going to upgrade to shut up my friends either lol. Its fine. One big complaint I have about the 450 is the inadequate lighting. I ride in the dark a lot so I did the headlight mod to allow all three bulbs to come on but that challenged the stator. I was draining battery at idle. I got some LEDs and it was such an improvement in draw that I could get grip and thumb warmers which are important in my climate.
I bought mine around the same time you got yours as an entry level machine and I gotta say, it’s very capable! I mean I beat the living crap out of mine and she takes it like a champ. I do plan on getting something a little bigger in the future. But I have no plans on getting rid of my 450. It’s a great machine for trail riding, goes plenty fast on stock wheels and tires (60mph), and they take a lickin’ and keep on tickin’. People underestimate what 500cc’s can do but I honestly think it was one of the best purchases I’ve ever made.
I loved my 450 and yes the muffler, shifter, and rear storage were the only down sides to it but it never got me stuck with them 28 inch mega mayhems ....and for some other ideas look up interco black mambas lite there not to bad and they can fit the stock rim .... also look into fsi fab on Facebook for some rear arched a arms ....keep up the awesome content
thanks for the update. I just had mine this weekend shut off under water with stock exhaust. i was wondering what the heck, no water in the intake, flip it up and turn it on and all is good. again thanks.
Mine did the same and drained the airbox and flipped it on its ass and no water came out of the exhaust or airbox and mines having a weak start/ idle and it dies when I hit the throttle
Planning on getting one of these if I could get a good price that’s all I need. I’ve been trying to debate about what I should do. My main concern is reliability because I really don’t know crap about 4 wheelers maintenance wise. I could probably change my own oil but that’s about it. I need something I knows not gonna break down easily. I won’t be doing things like you do I’ll mostly just be hitting trails and a little mud haha I’ve never took one deep so I’m thinking this will be a great machine. In its range and price point I think it looks the best. Top speed of the 450 looks great, I just want something for fun. I’m starting to save and I wanna buy one for Christmas.
Does your 450 have the top end rattle? I have heard a number of videos where you can hear it. I've read that it is common. I don't hear it on yours, but you are mostly mud riding at higher rpm so hard to tell. Mine does it - around 3500 to 4000 rpm at light throttle mostly. Sounds like valves, but I suspect it may be the decompression system rattling (I think they have one). Thanks.
@@garageforty2 Here is a better video for comparison. Mechanic told him it was the oil pump. Sounds more like top end noise to me, but others chime in on the video and say it is normal regardless. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fn5xczzs7Zs.html
I love mine but hear recto snorkeled it and I cannot for my life keep that thing sealed I watched ur snorkeling video and didn’t almost the same thing just added a lot more silicone and when I get over the air box it runs fine but I’ll pull it out and there will be a lot of water come out
Great job on the build and keep the video's coming 👍👍 I have a 19 450 and love it. Have you had any issues with getting water in the crankcase vent that runs to the air box?
So I have a all stock 2020 450 ho epi eps and I went under water about over the exhaust and it stalled and now it’s having a weak start / idle and I hit the throttle somtimes and it stalls would you know why that is ? What do I need to fix ?
@@garageforty2 oh there was I drained it only a little came out my uni air filter was a little wet my stock air filters have also been wet before but it’s never done this before like have a weak start/idel and stall when I hit the throttle
Maybe just check your gas, if there’s any possibility water is in the fuel that could do it. Other than that it sounds like an air restriction either in or out.
@@garageforty2 a lot of people tell me there’s no way water could have gotten in but I also think water got in. I haven’t tried to drain it but we shall see whwt the dealer says
I love the 450, but I know a lot of people do prefer not having to worry about belt drive so they go Honda. That and Honda still holds best reliability. My decision was based on price mostly lol, Polaris has the better 4wd system and comfort in my opinion though.
