@@LocksVid i had the same feeling with the introduction of oxygen OS 12 but it has improved immensely. Trust me current oxygen OS is damn smooth, clean and far better
Thanks for another objective review Matt. $799US is also the price for the base iPhone 15 but for those who aren't into the Apple ecosystem (like I am) the OnePlus 12 looks like it may be a viable option.
Yes, apart from the flat display of the S24+, the OnePlus 12 is the better choice. It has faster charging; wired and wireless, 16GB/512GB for £100 less than S24+, a larger battery, brighter display, infra-red, charger and case in the box, better camera hardware, etc. Probably the best mid-tier flagship (£800-£1000) of 2024.
Are you sure there is a phone case in the box? I have ordered an OnePlus 12 yesterday but the aramid fiber bumper I wanted to order was out of stock. I haven't seen any phone case in the box in many unboxing reviews, I have received one with my OnePlus 10 tho. 😊
When I read, hear and see people comparing the OnePlus 12 to the S24 Ultra or calling it a "Galaxy S24 Ultra killer", it really makes me laugh. Why not Oppo Find X7 Ultra killer, or Vivo X100 Pro killer, Xiaomi 14 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max killer 🤔 Just because the OnePlus 12 doesn't play in the same category as the iPhones 15 Pro Max, S24 Ultra and other Vivo X100 Pro, the OnePlus 12 competes more with smartphones like the Xiaomi 14, iQoo 12, S24/S24+, iPhone 15 / 15 Plus... It's a very good smartphone, a very good deal under certain conditions, but it's not at the level of the Ultra High-End. 🙏🏽 Ps: it's only on paper that the OnePlus 12 has a brighter display than those of the iPhones 15 Pro and S24s, and realistically, with the offers and other discounts, in many markets, the OnePlus 12 is not cheaper than the S24 Plus and even the S24 Ultra.
The battery and camera portions of this video really helped me decide not to upgrade from my OP11 to the OP12. The zoom capabilities and wireless charging aren't enough to justify it.
It's a big update. First the hardware, camera n charging then the software and performance has a huge difference too mann. I've myself upgraded it from 11 marble odyssey edition even tho i bought it with so much hopes.
upgrading phones like that is absolutely unnecessary in my opinion. i still have my oneplus 5 and i dont need to upgrade it (even tho the battery is doing really bad lately, like 4 hours at most)
i dont get why flat screen is more favorable to people. i like little curve at edges of the phone because i use swiping a lot and it feels awesome on curved screens and i use the case that my phone arrived with so no touching screen by mistake. also i like curved sides of the phone because the phone fits better in the hand (and thanks to htc one m7 it got popular). so as some one who holds the phone and swipes from sides (to go back) having a comfortable curved edge phone is way better than holding a brick with sharp edges and beautiful back behind its case. by the way i had a nokia 5 (first gen) for long time and it was one of the best phones to hold in hand.
I got the OP11 and ya im not jumping to upgrade but the 11 and 12 show Oneplus is finally back. They are incredible good value and unique. Was boring only picking between Samsung and Google in NA. Competition is good to see
@@yensteel id definitely get the 12, Samsung design language is very boring for the s24. And performance/camera is so close with both of these. Screen and battery and charging better on OnePlus
Using OP 11 for almost 10 months now pretty much satisfied, impressive battery charging speed helps a lot especially when you are busy busy which everyone is these days and no one would like to wait hours to charge phone like my wife has an I phone 13 and it literally takes lot of time to charge while I just need 20 25 minutes I phone had to wait for an hour and more
Love your reviews they always provide with the necessary details for the average user. I just got the oneplus 11 for $630 from best buy, upgrading from a 4 year old xiaomi and now I was feeling a bit jealous of the new 12 device but thanks to you I see there's not much difference and 11 is better in some ways, I will miss the IR blaster on my xiaomi and now I see the 12 has that!! but oh well.
Same here. 643$ after taxes. Are you serious. This was back in April 2023.! 643! With everything except two. I do not ever get my phone wet enough to actually need IP68 certification. And the wired charging is so fast that if I even dropped to 50. Like the 12 is capable of. It would seem slow like the S24 Plus I have. 45 watts is not fast. So I'm good.
OnePlus 11 has a fantastic camera...BUT...the software jpeg processing over brightens, as you stated, and the pictures often look washed out compared to my wifes Pixel 7 pro. Tweaking the photo in Google Photos easily solves the issue though. Usually adjusting brightness and saturation will fix the issue.
ordered this instead of the s24U. I had the 23U and now iphone 15 pro, but that oneplus 12 looks so nice and im in love with fast charging. AND it is so much cheaper than samsung and apple, Im getting the 512 gb for an 256 price, and the wireless 50watts charger for free, win win
Watching this video on my OP11 while the wife sets ups her new OP12. We love the high end specs, and ridiculous fast charging since I got the 120 watt charger.
Your review of the phone is clearly based on hatred for all parts of the phone. You will not speak a word of truth in favor of OnePlus, because in short, you paid the price from Samsung and others....
I prefer the selfie in the corner because it's less noticeable when viewing media in landscape. I'm biased though because I never use it. I cant wait for the under display tech to get good enough for the mass market.
This is how flagship should be offered. You got all around decent specs and also HAS A CHARGER INCLUDED IN THE BOX FFS, and a fast charger at that. Ridiculous how we are now used to paying 1000$+ for a phone with the most basic thing left out, and being forced to fork out another 50$ just for an ancient slow ass charger in NA.
End of video had me hurry my other reply. Bro. These are not all around decent specs. These are as good as specs get. Screen-check. Build quality e-check Hardware - check. Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. What beats that in the Android space.? QHD+ display with a peak brightness of 4500 nits. Nothing out there beats that. Display is slightly larger than S24 Ultra. 6.84 inches. I know it is IP 65. But we have seen videos that show that it is IP68. If it were not. Those phones would not survive those test. But they do. My OP 9 wasn't rated. Buy it was. It had the gaskets everywhere they should be. And then I saw the video. Dude freezes the phone in water. Turns it back on the next day. The alert slider is unique to the phone. No other phone has it. Not even the iPhone has it now. 5400 mah battery. The S24 Ultra is sitting on the 5000. The performance is second to none. The charging speeds are much faster than anyone else in the states other than Motorola. By far. The wireless is faster than wired in all cases sans Motorola. I am not able or capable of reading your comment and understanding how you come up with "decent specs". They are the best specs the United States have ever had on offer. That's not an opinion.
I disagree with the charging block. Not saying they should eliminate it totally, but they should give an option to buy a multi usb charging bloc or get discount for eliminating the block. Mandatory charging block increase e waste if you already got multiple at home
@@TheAilmami disagree, they will make as many chargwer blocks regardless wether they come in the box or not, wether you have some at home or not. The only diference is they are making you pay for them seperatly. Also they make the charger blocks USB-C instead of regular USB basicaly making all the charger blocks useless with the USB-c at both ends cable they ship the phones with and thus making even more e-waste.
I have the oneplus 9 pro and it is great. Camera is good too great, I was previously using a Huawei phone from 2017. What I got was brilliant. Sure the price was on par with phones in the premium
I just got the OP-11 yesterday upgrading from a OP-6T and now I am seeing this lol. Not much of a huge difference other than the higher storage & GB (limited promotion), slightly better camera (zoom-in and front), wireless charging and latest processing chip (SD Gen 3). Although the higher storage & 16 GB sounds nice, I never max out my storage. I do delete apps/videos/pictures as Google Play Store tells me I do not use them often, so not a big deal. The latest processing chip is mainly good for heavy phone gaming/remote play, but, I don't do much of that either. Overall, if anyone is considering the OP12 from a OP11 standpoint, it isn't worth it unless you have the oldest models (10 and below).
Oh my but do we have different tastes! I love curved screens because they feel better in the hand and they aren't so sharp to hold. I just bought two OnePlus 12's for $599 each and we are upgrading from the OnePlus 11 which I'm using right now. I love my 11 enough that I'm keeping it, not trading it in, BTW. I suspect your many opinions will lower the "likes" on this video, along with the dreadful background music but I watched it all the way through anyway. 😄
This phone looks awesome I'm really considering upgrading from my Galaxy S22 Ultra. Samsung refuses to upgrade the features I want like larger battery capacity and faster charging; I've never owned a Oneplus before though would it be a good switch?
I don't get why you always say Apple chip is better ? better in what ? you need to do Antuntu Benchmark test to find the which is better in UX, CPU , GPU etc , geekbench is only tell 1/2 of the story.
Personally, I feel the word "tacky" is inappropriate. Tacky is wearing black shoes with a brown suit. Lol. Still, I'm not overwhelmed with the pattern of the green. It kind of reminds me of kitchen tile. I really don't know what they were thinking. However, the silky black shimmers and it looks amazing. I would like to point out that the 9 and 10 Siri's phones were not terrible. They were just overpriced for what they were. I'd also like to point out that the front of the phone is victus 2 and not original victus. That is also another difference between the 11 and the 12. Once more, I have absolutely no issues with curved glass. It looks classy and very elegant. Besides, nobody in their right mind would own a glass phone and not put a case on it.
I don't like the darker shadows on OnePlus 12. I want to see more detail. They need to fix this. And while I prefer flat screens, I also prefer rounded edges on the side of the phone.
7:42 i think you mistakenly subtracted 54 from 61 instead of 51 from 64, so in reality it's %13 drop! Also, battery drops quicker from 100 if I'm not miataken so might mske it even worse for the comparison.
I ditched the Pixel 7 for the OnePlus 11 after just a few months because the Pixel was a nightmare. I've had several OP phones and never been disappointed. The 12 looks really slick but I couldn't have stayed with the Pixel a day longer. I'm surprised I tolerated it as long as I did.
Just watched the keynote. I'm curious about the Buds 3 since I already have the Pro 2. The specs seem to be the same-ish besides the battery life. Also the lack of mentioning Hanz Zimmer and Dolby Audio has me concerned that it doesn't have it. Any thoughts? Love the kid in class comment. I would have definitely found that funny
Great Comparison I live in the UK and currently here the 12 is retailing for £800 and the 11 for £520 So big Difference in Price I Currently have a Samsung A35 but My Mother wants it so I have to get another Device so was wondering will the 11 be a better buy than the A35?
Apart fromt he curved front screen, when you hold a phone with a curved back in your hand it's much nicer. The OP12 feels much smaller than even a base iphone or S24 because of the curved back, and much easier to use one handed. My iphones sharp edges have given me a noticeable bump on my little finger lol
I have oneplus 11 Jupiter edition the limited edition woth 512GB and I like it My previous phone was oneplus 9. I didn't like the camera the 9 was better than 11. I don't know why make the 12 bigger
I kinda disagree with you on the curved edges part. I feel the curved edges make the phone easy to fit in the palm unlike the sharp edges of the Galaxy Ultra and iPhones.
I've been using one plus phones for a long time and I've never had a problem with the curved edges. My 9 Pro is pretty similar the to 11 in shape and it feels perfectly fine in the hand. The majority of people seem to enjoy the curved edges which is why they keep doing it.
I used to feel that way about curved displays until i realized that i don't have the luxury of having a phone without case. The case is mostly what your going to feel
Is VoLTE not working in Canada? 3G is getting shut down in a year so without VoLTE phone calls will stop working. I wanted to see your review since you live in Canada to check this and I can tell the VoLTE icon is off. 5G is supposed to work but no official word on VoLTE yet for Canada. Can you confirm if it's not available in settings or did you turn it off? Which carrier's SIM is it?
5:59 why is this also the first thing I thought of, one time my English teacher got absolutely livid when we kept turning off the smartboard. He slammed a book on his desk and threw the door shut. Poor guy.
I have a OP 7t Pro Mclaren and a S23u as my daily and I use the Mclaren just as much and I'll probably buy another one off ebay if and when the time comes also have a 8 intergalactic and 8t purple on the side line as alternatives😂
Nice video and thanks for the comparison. For me, the decision is clear. I go for the 12. By, the way. You look like "Bushido" a really famous rapper from Germany, specially at 4:30.
I havent like OP phones since the 7 pro, and I've had EVERY iteration since the 1-7pro. Stopped after that, coz they continued to play it safe. IMHO the 7 pro was the last time they did significant Innovation. But the 12 looks AMAZING! And I'm seriously considering getting it this year
You should, I have the 11 and the 12 is even battery. Full phone cooling chamber, fastest memory and storage, latest WiFi standard (iPhone 15 doesnt), much bettery battery tech and super fast charging (faster than any other brand)
The 11 had WiFi 7. The Gen 2 from Qualcomm. QHD+ display. Same camera island basically. If it was innovation you were waiting on. You are a year late. Matte black finish. No fingerprints. My phone looks brand new 10 months later. The screen does not scratch. Pulled the 1st screen protector off when it got a tad older and began to possibly scratch me. Display looks great. Been dropped from waist height 7 times. I can't find a single scratch. Not one.!
The IP68 certification means nothing to me. I don't practice getting my phone wet because I can. Ever. The wired charging is so much faster than 50 it would go unused anyway. Bright as I need display. Seriously. What did the 7 Pro have that 11 doesn't beside a pop up selfie camera. Alot of phones went with that in 2019. Definitely a year late. Plus I payed 643$ after taxes for the 256/16. The wait was over last March.
Sir, can you please make a camera comparison video (Specially night mode video and microphone) between Oneplus 12 and Samsung S24 plus. I’m a RU-vidr. Need to upgrade my gears. I need to take a decision between these two. Thanks in advance.
been looking to replace my OnePlus 7t (which still rocks, so not in a hurry) and I would 90% go with the OnePlus 11 cause of the better price. The showstopper however is the specs I found online regarding the USB port speed, stating that OP11 is 2.0 and OP12 is 3.2. Is that really so? My 2019 OnePlus 7T has USB 3.1 and I really enjoy being able to copy so quickly photos from my Mirrorless camera's SD Card for editing and posting (wireless transfer comes nowhere near using a micro-sd card reader OTG), but if OP11 has only USB 2.0 that means a dramatic decrease in transfer speed (480Mbps vs 5Gbps+). Could somebody please confirm this? Or am I getting the specs wrong? Also the other nice thing to have about the OP12 would be the better zoom capabilities... but I would gladly give that up for half-the-price of OP12.
Using OnePlus 11 for last three months, great device it was with Oxygen Os 13.1 ,with SOT 9-10 hrs...After Updating to Oxygen Os 14,Images are soft and SOT has decreased significantly to 5-6 hrs.Oneplus should optimise it
OnePlus 11 camera is worst since it whitens up face when taking image of human subjects and in low light and indoor as well. It does not manages the white balance specially for human subject just like 1 comparison in your video as well.
And finally the inability of OnePlus phones to capture sharp detailed textures or faces of human subjects in portrait mode has been fixed. OnePlus never were able to maintain sharp crisp details on portrait shots, especially faces of human subjects. But now it is very much fixed and is capable to capture the crisp portrait shots like it's competitors. Well done. Now I want a OnePlus phone even more so. Have been using this brand for so long but was disappointed with the problem I mentioned. I can now feel confident with the portrait shots.
Bought an s9 150$ traded it for iphone15 just paid taxes now i have monthly credits (so phone is technically paid off but not paid off) ... don't want to lose the deal off I'd ditch it on the spot for this 1+ 12 (as it seems their back on track) .... i skipped s24ultra from 23ultra as to me 24ultra is a scam lol .... will wait for 1+13 if they keep on the same track if will be a great phone
OnePlus was on track to replace iPhones for me. Apple shot themselves in the foot by forcing eSIM only on the USA and leaving sim trays in the rest of the world. I love my iPhone but eSIM is no different than cdma service and I’ll not have it or be forced in to it. So Apple lost a phone customer that day. I happily fell in to OnePlus immediately, and OP was going to be my new phone home, I currently own Nord the N30 and 3 and am overly impressed with what OP did with android. 10t, Pro and 11. I have always Only bought the best available of what ever product i chose for future proofing purposes. And unfortunately OP has pulled an Apple move but in reverse but not. By making the 24gb/1tb model unavailable outside china. I’m sure I’m safe to say there are a lot and I mean a LOT of OP buyers both in the states and in other countries that are greatly disappointed with this decision. What they are offering here in the USA is a neutered version of the best they have to offer. If they ever release the 24/1 model here I’ll probably buy it. Timing will determine. If they were to release it very near the release of a OP13 with better specs then I’d probably pass on the 12 all together. OP, just like Apple lost sales this year all over the world because of a bad decision. UI Preference. I’m the opposite, I despise Samsung and Google UI and wouldn’t spend a penny on anything using them. But OxygenOS is very iOS like with improvements and being a iPhone user I really appreciate the attention to detail. OOS still has a little bit of work in making it superior to iOS, but it’s close enough to help me walk away from apple where the phone is concerned. Apple would have to make another hair brained decision to get me away from iPads. I never buy the cell capable model so I’m not sure what they could do to lose me as a customer with the normal iPad.but rest assured, Apple is a master at messing up. I’m sure they will think of something “intentionally” to lose more customers.
I've got a one plus 8T, pretty close to it's 3 year anniversary with me, dropped in a bucket of fish water and went for a swim, only problem I've had is not enough memory, starting to run low, and the power button is gone 😢 So yeah time to upgrade to 512gb model, think I'll get the 11 after seeing this, cheers 👍🏻
the 11 already felt too heavy i can't believe the 12 will be even heavier 😒...my wrists don't appreciate it...i just ordered the op 12 this morning anyways
I personally like the curves and for those that don't, you could always get a phone case, but if the phone is squared, it's harder to find a phone case that would accommodate users who prefer round edges!
5:50 fully agree. I bought a Samsung S9 back in the day and the curved screen got so annoying that I sold it and bought an iPhone 8. Curved screens are an interesting but ultimately useless gimmick. And you constantly get mis-inputs from your palm, and finger pads touching the sides while holding the phone. And while we're at it, keep the selfie camera in the corner, its much cleaner and less annoying to use when watching RU-vid or Netflix. It makes more sense to just throw it in the corner, because it's not really used for anything besides notifications or the clock. I hate the centered selfie camera. That dumb little hole punch really irritates me especially as someone who's literally never taken a selfie in my life.
oneplus 12 is new it hasn't got any major update oneplus 11 is almost a year old with stable updates....thats why camera quality sometimes is bttr i think....
