I forgot to even mention this phone literally has the best battery life I've ever had on a phone. A larger battery then even the S24 Ultra with a better processor = best battery life I've ever had!
@@akilbarboni4198 ask around. perhaps i'm wrong. i doubt it though. it's widely known high resolution screens draw more power than lower resolution screens.
Awesome review man! I bought this one from you on eBay for my brother and he's thrilled with it. We both had OnePlus 7 pros, then Google Pixel 7 pro, and upgraded him to the OnePlus 12r that we bought from you! Epic phone I'm debating on 12 vs 12r for me. It's a no-brainer!
Glad you're enjoying it! It's an amazing phone for sure. Honestly the best value out there. Even the 12 is terrific too. So you'll get a good deal either way
Get the 12 for the cameras 1+12 KILLED the game this year The cameras is killing Samsung right up there with Apple matter of fact I like them better phone of the year I just pray it does not get booted out by all these RU-vidrs cuz of brand loyalty if it does I will lose respect for MKBHD mrwhostgeboss, ext ext........
You are correct. Ignore the haters. All the haters carp about is the camera is not "flagship quality." If they want a "flagship camera," then buy a flagship and pay the additional $300-500. When one finds a comparably priced phone with a better camera, compromises have been made: less RAM, less storage, less battery power, slower charging. So, what is critical in your phone??
It has the oneplus 11 main cam which is very good too. Best speed for the money. Charging speeds. Biggest battery I've seen in a phone at this price. Very underrated
Decisions Decisions. I'm debating between getting a OnePlus 12 or OnePlus 12r. I initially started looking at a Google pixel 8 pro or a Samsung Galaxy s24 ultra but i didn't want to have to give up a kidney to get one. With OnePlus, i can get a phone that does 90- 95 % of what those other phones do for much less
Yeah and it depends on what you are looking for. No wireless charging here, OnePlus 11 main camera (a step below the 12) and no good zoom cameras. If you are good with that, this is amazing. OnePlus 12 would get you the better cameras and wireless charging. The Pixel 8 Pro has been going on sale in the US at least around $800, so no longer have to give up a kidney, but it depends mainly on if you want a zoom camera.
I went from the 12 to the 12r and I like the r better just easier to use and more compact. I do miss the camera setup on the 12 but other than that I don't feel like it's a complete downgrade at all
Good to see you again nice phone very nice I like one plus first phone I had was sandstone 3 gigs of ram 64 gigs. They came along way. Right now I have galaxy s24 alittle more money but better than 12r❤
I think I've only reviewed like two or three OnePlus devices in the entirety of my channel. I'm about to review the OnePlusPad 2 but haven't reviewed many devices. This video isn't about fanboyism. It's actually the opposite. In the US there aren't a ton of options, this has faster charging than Samsung's $1,200 phone, it has a flagship processor, faster than Google's $600 phones. And the display is basically just as good as the s23 ultra at least. So for the price it's pretty insane. I really good value. On my channel I am pretty positive about most things. I think almost every device is worth buying, the question is the price. So unlike most RU-vidrs I'll try to talk about the market, sales going on, and I'll try to let people know if a phone is a good value. The value on this phone is pretty insane
@@AndroidDigest thank you for the review. i am planning on getting one soon to replace my 3 years old Poco F3, but the cameras of the 12R were making me Hesitate a lot, and honestly i still not entirely sure of getting it instead of other competitors like: REALME GT NEO 6 - IQOO Z9 TURBO- ONEPLUS 11(it's expensive)
Just got my oldest this phone for his bday. With his old trade in value including bonus, current deal of Father's day and free shipping 😮.... It came out to less than $480 with the sandstone case.
Great video, I was on the fence about upgrading to this over my Oneplus 10 pro and still am for some reason. I see a a lot of people that love the fast charging and I am one of them. But it has been proven this type of charge speed really degrades the battery fast compared to Apple/Samsung options.
From my experience I haven't seen that these extra charge speeds degrade much of anything. Keep in mind some phones are charging like at 150 watts or more! I think OnePlus is still being pretty conservative here! I agree that those crazy 100-200watt charge speeds could make wear a little worse for the battery, but not much, I'd argue wireless charging could be just as damaging if not worse due to the extra heat. But either way, you don't have to use extra charging speed, you could save that for those situations that you are desperate. And I hear you. You are on a pro version a couple years ago comparing to a non-pro version now with a lot of perks. It's almost like a sideways move in some ways. So I get being hesitant, it depends on if you want value or something significantly better vs what you have, but this is a solid value!
I currently saving for this phine and this confirms that this is the phone i want. You complain about the cameras but you arent paying the money to get the top notch features you are paying 499 dollars wich is crazy considering as you said none of the hardware and software are slow or bad
Remember, OnePlus was offering an extra $100 off if you trade in any device. If you put a device worth a bunch of value they will take it and expect it. But if it's just some junkie flip phone or something they won't even ask for it. They will just send you an email with a recycling website. I can't guarantee that. But that's what they did with me. So I got the $100 off right away and never even had to send anything in. So that made the Price $399 for me which is great
Missing from phones by any all manufacturers at this price point is the almost total lack of printable (PDF formatted) documentation. A glaring omission, most especially for anyone just getting starting in using a smartphone over a ultra low-end flip phone. The assumption by manufacturers of great familiarity with prior smartphone ownership is risky at the very least.
I can understand your position. I get it. In my experience as a phone salesman, who would walk with customers and help them learn about smartphones, that was my biggest thing as a salesperson is to make sure people felt cared for and learned. I learned that those manuals meant very little to nothing compared to even 5 minutes with someone. A manual just can't explain these things in a good efficient way. Nowadays it's far better to just watch a "android phone for beginners" video on youtube.
I'm between this and the 13 pro max. I really want a 120hz phone. My current phone is a 80% iPhone xr, it gets hot really easily so I need an upgrade pretty quick. I'm only issue with the 12r is the camera, trade in value and since it's not the biggest brand in the world id feel as if it wouldn't last very long with heavy gaming. so might spend the extra $100 for the 13PM
It's really hard for me to say. Switching iOS to Android is a tough battle. If you've been on iPhone I would have a hard time justifying a switch to you. I'm not saying it can't be done, but only some people can do it because it takes a lot out of you.
@@AndroidDigest I like ios but not enough to never switch to android, and I do love android ui, honestly whichever phone drops down first I'll get. Thanks
One thing to look at: If you buy a OnePlus 12R from their website, if you register for their website, download their phone app if it's available (may not be on iPhone), sign up for their texting if it pops up on their website. You could get discounts for using their app, or for signing up for text messages. But a really big discount is when you are checking out and select to "recycle a device". Pick the option to recycle that doesn't even require you to pick a device. You won't have to even send in a phone. They will just send you a link to a recycling website AFTER checkout. So basically it's a free $50 off. Add that in to the extra discount from the website and you get a GREAT deal. This will have significantly faster charging, a VERY gorgeous screen, the camera is still good, just no good zoom cam. You just have to be okay with that curved display. It's a good VALUE with these discounts. In my opinion, iPhones are GREAT. Androids are GREAT. Both make fantastic tech. But if I'm going to lock myself down, it would be in Android BECAUSE iPhones have only a few options each year, and they intentionally withhold features to jack up the price. On Android you have the power of choice and competition every year, which tends to lead to sales and good deals and dropped prices. So Android will give you similar things for a better value in the long run. iPhones are great. Sometimes people are unique and can go back and forth every few years. So that's okay too if you are that person, you may be. But it is a tough switch, if you're ready to make it, there are deals available, things like what I talked about above can get you even better discounts. Good luck!
I've been debating what one I want I don't take pictures alot I don't really use it period ha but I do like storage I play a lot of games on the phone and watch movies. the big battery sounds great but Im still thinking about what one will be right for me I got the OnePlus n30 and it's been great
This phone would be tremendous for you. The main camera is still pretty good anyway. And it will definitely be better than the n30. But hey, as long as you're happy that's the important thing
As a cyber professional, I've been looking to manage several apps with a poor privacy record on a second phone. Although the 12r has a less desirable camera, weather rating, and curved screen, it makes up for it with the memory, screen brightness, and price. They also patch the flagship models monthly. 👍
Upgrated from s21, really happy with 12R. I have had small phones all my life so it takes time to get use to. I can feel the extra weight in my pocket. I also don't like the curved screen. For everything else I'm really satisfied! I bought a brand new Chinese version 12R from Aliexpress for 335€, the Chinese version has UFS 4.0 and global rom. It works perfectly. You can't get anything close to 12R here for this price. Insane value!
@StromBugSlayer In case something happens to the charging port and you still need your phone charged. I was in a tight situation on the road before and that happened. So i had to scrabble around to spend an extra $100 on a phone i didn't need just to have a phone to use.
@@keithdunn762 Umm how often do charging ports fail? And if you are worried about that, just invest in oneplus 12, its got faster wireless charging than most flagships can charge with a wire.
It's not true 4500. It's a if your reading paragraphs outside the whole screen is not 4500 really the paragraph is. It's not a full screen brightness 4500 gimmick but it's 369 on website
I love the phone but I am not getting any notifications on my 12R and it's driving me crazy. I've tried all the settings. I had the same issue with the Oneplus 10T as well. I was hoping they fixed it. I have disabled all battery optimizations and allowed foreground and background app usage. Nothing works! I don't want to send it back but I need a fix. LOL
@@AndroidDigest I was over there as well. Same issue reported by others. :) Hopefully they drop a fix for it. Interestingly enough I believe it has to do with the sleep/app optimization in Android 14 because while charging the phone, all notifications are coming in while it's locked. I may be onto something.....Great video and thumbs up!
It does have a brighter display and a bigger battery. Performance is technically a little better too. Charging speeds are way better. The cameras are going to be a little worse. That's a good summary.
You are comparing the S24 ultra with the Oneplus 12r, which is not fair at all. When you are saying negatives or downsides, like best flagship camera or lastes fllagship chipset not being there - it is not a flagship bro. There is no downsides here as a complete package. Screen, water resistance, chipset, battery - it is the best value for money.
From Mint: Essentially any 5G or 4G LTE-supported phone that accepts a physical SIM card (or supports eSIM) will work on Mint. Use our compatibility checker to see if your phone will work on Mint. The answer, yes. It will definitely work
I'm using the ace 3 pro, but the battery isn't as impressive as I expected. Any tips? Is there a way to measure the effect of WiFi usage, mobile data, screen etc? @@AndroidDigest
I don't have something to test nits with as far as the brightness goes. But it's extremely bright. I don't see anyone needing anything brighter. Once you get so high as far as nits, it's almost impossible to see a difference anyway. 350 to 800 nits is a massive gap. 1,000 to 1,600 nits is a smaller gap. Harder to see the difference. 4,500 is insane and difficult to notice anyway
OnePlus is a major spy happy company!! They have upped the ante on spyware within their phones and if you don't agree with the crap, you can't use their phone. I used to be an avid OnePlus user but I am no longer.
I don't really blame you. I didn't notice more apps. Pre-installed when compared with Samsung or other companies. And Samsung would typically ask me to agree to terms of service. So I was sort of in the same boat I felt like. But I get. I do trust Samsung more as a company. And sometimes when you pay less money, like this phone, It's a great bargain. But there's always compromises. Thanks for sharing your experiences
I wish someone would give away to me. I'm not made of money here, I really really need money right now actually, so hey, if you want to give away I'm all ears. Love from the US in all seriousness
I mean the main camera is OnePlus 11 level, which I think is good, not great. Good for the money, but yeah, secondary cameras I would say are horrible.
You're spot on my friend. Th 12R is a monster of a phone that I actually prefer over my S21 Ultra. I traded in an old 6t and received the 12R for 350.00 out the door. It has so many little customizations that makes it really special. You just can't beat it. Thanks for the great video.
Turns out the 12R is a disappointment already. Stupid discovery page you can't get rid of. Curved edges mean it isn't responsive when touching meat the edges. Finger print sensor through the screen seems a lot less reliable. There's no 2 or 3x1 clock widget anymore.
I'm trying to film my grandson shooting at the range with me and the stupid phone is using AI to blur the gun out of the videos. It even blurred the American flag on his hearing protection. WTF is up with this phone? How do I shut that off? It's bad enough that this phone crashes all the time. Now I can't film what I want to film? The makers of the phone hate guns and the American flag? Really?
Yeah I try to stay out of prices overseas. Sometimes other currencies are worth more, or maybe they make more $$ per year in US dollars, and things cost more, or sometimes tech just costs more in general and even $800 might be a good deal. I just stick to US prices and try to let people decipher that for themselves.
I agree 1+ is killing the game in each category I've said this too many times I seriously don't understand how Samsung can sell any budget or mid-range phones with OnePlus sitting next to them on the shelf it truly shows how the average consumer is not educated or informed when it comes to electronics 😢
This is probably the best deal of the year when it comes to brand new phones. Once you get used to the 80 watt charging 11 hours of screen on time it's hard to go back. I do miss the pixel recorder app in astrophotography mode but that's why I have a second phone.
If you trade in "any phone any condition", you just select you are wanting to recycle, and I'm pretty sure they don't even make you send something in. They just give $50 off and send a link to a website to recycle if you want. For $450, and cheaper with sales, this is the best value phone I've seen in awhile.
Thanks so much! Yeah I think even over the Nord this will probably crush it. Even the other phones around $500, this smokes most of them. Even the Pixel 8a, this has a better battery size, faster charging speeds, a better screen. Not saying it's better in every way vs the Pixel 8a, my point is this phone stacks up so well. I heard about the Nord 4 though, so it's interesting! May want to wait to be sure.
Upgraded from s7 edge and its awesome. Got a power brick in the box and 2 charging cable ❤ its a phone for gamers and people who dont care much about camera
Yeah this is a GREAT update from the S7 Edge. Can't believe you held onto that phone this long. Also, don't sleep on the camera. It's way better vs your edge. And it's the same main camera on the OnePlus 11, it's not that bad! Very good! People just complain because it doesn't have as good of secondary cameras, or main cameras as the LATEST OnePlus 12. But it has a very good main camera imo
@@AndroidDigest yeah ive been using s7 edge for 7 years lol still looks new since i really take care of it but i need a big upgrade. I was eyeing s23 base model but its still expensive here so i settle to op12r and not regrets
@@LessThanHandy here's a few reasons A) slow charging speeds, my one plus charges in 26 minutes B) No USB mass storage drag and drop options. Only silly airdrop and iTunes syncing options C) No multitasking, I use Canva, you cut, RU-vid studio and apple doesn't allow background processes while switching and uploading videos D) Editing videos requires the app to stay open and any interruption requires a full restart (youcut/I movie/etc E) Transferring photos and videos are nearly impossible to do unless you use storage backups that take way to much data to use especially with 4k videos. Hence USB mass storage is standard for everything else in the world (Androids can act like flash drives to move data) F) they use Sony cameras so you don't even need there phone to begin with G) overheating issues when doing more than one task that uses processing power ( my phone 15plus always lagged and overheated with basic tasks my current 500 phone excels in) H) apple videos need to be converted before brought over to PC for editing which is dumb I) there accessories like charging cables aren't even up to par with transfer speeds ( apple to Android or to PC is non existent even after a decade) J) putting music on it I is a pain with iTunes, update it already ( drag and drop on any android phone since forever) Just a few things that really slowed down progress I have more.
@@LessThanHandy the iPhone experience with apps remembering passwords and stuff is good but it's far too restrictive when it comes to editing and customization. To me at least
Better processor, way bigger battery (800 extra mAh) way faster charging speeds. All on this phone. BUT no wireless charging on the OnePlus, and the cameras are debatable, but maybe better on the Nothing phone and some people like Nothing OS better, or the quirks of the OS. There's a quick comparison for you. To be honest, that video just wouldn't have the popularity for my particular channel, but yeah I still think both phones are valid, it's a pretty close comparison, specs lean towards OnePlus, software for me and quirks (lights) lean towards Nothing.
Why even ask, the Nothing 2 is even older processor. Nothing 2 is more a midrange anyways. They call it flagship because it is the highest and fastest phone they have released. Now, if they released their next Nothing phone like when Samsung and OnePlus next processor with 8 Gen 4, then you can call it a flagship. Until then, it is midrange phone.
Personally I agree with you. I like the Pixel. But it's slower. It has far worse battery life. Slower charging. And it's a lot smaller for those people who want something larger
Pros: Love the battery. Fast. Cons: For me, when using RU-vid on landscape mode, sometimes no button work only remedied by going back to portrait mode. 2nd con is curved screen. Edges are not protected with OP case. Hopefully, Poetic case i received from Amazon will help.
if you're talking about the poetic revolution with the built in screen protector GET IT it's a GREAT case it's the ONLY case i buy and been buying since the samsung galaxy s8+
I got the phone myself and really love it but I would not call it a flagship killer. More a midrange killer because it is not better than the 12. It kills midrange phones not flagships.
Firstly, just because a phone has a larger battery doesn't mean it will last longer. Secondly, as u mentioned curved sucks and isn't for me either. Thirdly, if I'm spending $500 I better get a headphone jack option (it belows my mind that people pay more money to get less features, all thanks to Apple). Lastly, OnePlus is known for their display issues in the long run. No thanks, I would rather buy xiomie even if it doesn't have all the bands in USA.
hey. You are very entitled to your opinion. BUT in this case, it has a very efficient processor. So that equals amazing battery life. The best I've had on a phone. I forgot to even talk about it because it was so good 😭. But yeah, I get it. If you've had bad experiences, and you hate curved screens, that could be enough to sway you away. I get it. That's why I mention the cons
Btw the green line issue can happen on all amoled displays but OnePlus is the only manufacturer that provide free unlimited display replacement, even if it happens after the warrenty period. Apple, Xiaomi and Samsung (provide free replacement for few selected flagships) charge you money for replacing the display. OnePlus actually acknowledges that causing green line is their issue while the other manufacturer are not
You hate oneplus. When cares? I've owned at least 5 different oneplus phones and have never had a screen issue. I've also owned many Samsung phones and have had all kinds of different issues like my battery starting on fire. These monster companies make and sell literally millions of phones. They're bound to be have some issues. You sound like one of the many people who aren't happy unless you're pissing and moaning about something. Get a grip.
@@AndroidDigest it's not OnePlus fault to be honest. I blame Sony abandoning this particular 4k 120 fps lens. I wish they would refresh it . Which for me made the pro moniker in naming stick. The 10 pro was also ingress protected at 68. The 80 watt and 50 watt wireless charge. The 10 pro is an understatement marvel.
