Love the video, Michael Josh! I think the specs on the 8T in the US are 12GB RAM and 256GB storage for $749. Please correct this because it's misleading. Thanks!
There's an error when comparing prices. The 749 is actually for 12G/256GB, compared to the 8's 699 for 8G/128GB. So this is actually 50 cheaper than 8 at launch. And all the other price comparison you are comparing 256 to 128 devices, thus the conclusion of " can't justify the $50 premium" you gave is invalid and it's the other way around.
I would have liked for you to show other devices being charged with the same charger, OnePlus claims that the new charher supports USB PD, and not having that feature has kept me from using OnePlus because so many of my devices are PD based. Can you confirm?
So I’ve watched a few videos of yours and I’m going to give you a subscribe. You have decent transitions, text to background colouring is good and photo quality sections have been good in this video so yes. Thank you and I’ll be looking forward to the new iPhone coverage for the mini and the pro max.
Anyone noticing heating up when using Amazon app after the os update 11.0.2.3 ?? It is getting heat up massive only when Amazon app is open/under operation
Hi Michael I am a fan of your of comments have a honest question I live in Ireland and on 4g network with Vodafone and this is my question Michael am changing my phone in the future am upgrading to 12gb/256gb phone and I look at the phone market in such a strange way Huawei has no Google/In Ireland the. Samsung phone is only available with Exynos processor/Xiaomi have no Google/am looking at one plus 8 T or 9 pro but don't know if they are reliable enough with all the comments saying they have connections problems WiFi and network problems with buying a 1000 euro phone are they safe to buy Michael they look a great phone it is a phone I did not not have before so just asking your advice cheers Michael best wishes 👍👍
@@mirajperez4902 yep sulit na yan. but for me personally i will have to wait for the 12/256 variant dahil andami kong flac files and walang sd card slot yung 8t so yeah. or i can just buy the 12/256 variant nung 8 pro hahahaha
All that anticipation and meh... Has oneplus lost their mojo? Neither this or the Nord really appeals. Not really worth it, I'd still buy the 8Pro. But the S20 FE or Xperia 5ii are probably a better bet.
Main concept of a phone is to make calls and sms. Please do review on call features. How is the call quality, call recording feature which is important. VoLTE and VoWIFI supported or not. You just make a review on hardware, camera and gamming.
You made a mistake, OnePlus 8T is 12Gb Ram and 256 Gb of storage, so of course for that it beats up the competition, and makes it much more attractable than Samsung S20 FE, the Pixel 5 and the iphone 12 mini.
As far as I understand - that totally useless monochrome camara that is only there so they can say it has 4 cameras, is actually the reason it takes so good lowlight pictures in nightmode.
I rarely trust "review videos" here in YT. I even rarely finish them when I hear a hint of bias or when it sound boring. But when I watch Michael Josh, he always sounds someone I can trust. And I've always believed that he's objective enough to do these reviews. Thank you for your videos!
Michael focused on key aspects which are upgraded from OnePlus 8. No other hands-on video mentioned these minor changes. That’s why always rely on Gadget Match for every technology review. Great video as always 👌🏼
I just ordered the 8T, love the color and does not feel cheap like the FE, the 65W charger is just what I need and of course the 120 hertz. Great video!
@@tkta69 I'm getting oneplus 8t also in few days and I'm so excited. Hardcore stock android fan and Google pixel phones, but in the middle east I'm from Egypt, pixel phones are triple the official price
Yep, i dont like phones that are this big. 6 to 6,1 inch is perfect for me. Also, i want a better camera and not useless ones like the macro or monochrome xD
ya sadly these companies just try to mush as much things as possible into the phone so on paper it looks great but when you use it more than 1 hour, not only it hurts your neck but also your wrist, only samsung, huawei and iphone has more manageable size and weight but samsung (exynos) is too warm for your hand and apple don't do proper cooling, while huawei p series is not big, it is already out of the competition
I guess you are from India, considering both of these things that you just said. Go for the 8t. Even after having the Exynos chip, Samsung is around 100 dollars costlier. Not worth it, imho.
We Indians a re much better off with a OnePlus compared to Iphones and Samsungs. Apple loves America. Samsung underestimates Indian consumers. And OnePlus values and loves the Indian consumers.
This is one of those videos that I just have to respectfully disagree with. I just purchased my OnePlus 8T a few weeks ago and I love it. Actually, I chose it over the OnePlus 9 series for a couple of reasons. First off, it only cost $600 on Amazon and the OnePlus website. Secondly, the 8 series 1 + phones feature dual SIM card ability which were whatever stupid reason one plus chose to delete from the nine series. This phone is awesome and the build quality is second to none. I have absolutely no doubt that I made the right decision.
Hope oneplus 9 is better than before. I need: 1.gimbal camera. 2.waterproof phone. 3. Metal at back like oneplus 3t 4. Flat edge screen bezelless 5. Radio without jack and internet. 6. Selfie camera under screen. 7. Less than 7 inch screen. 8. Brightness 1200 cd/m² (nit) or better. 9. 4800mah battery or above 10. Qualcomm snapdragon as standard international ram. 11. Support sd extreme card pro I dont need: 1. Phone earpiece jack 2. NFC because barcode transfer is enough and safety 3. Wireless charging to avoid static and safety 👍👍👍👍👍
I really enjoyed oneplus devices. Had the OPO then moved to the OP5T. It's worth mentioning than my 5T got a buggy Android 10 update with April security patch back in June. The update is so bad that oneplus stopped pushing it to 5T devices. So many 5Ts are still on A9 with February security patch! Huge battery drain, app crashes, signal drops, slow animation, electronic image stabilization removed, and so much more bugs. Although the phone is still in its 3 year support cycle oneplus HASN'T FIXED THE UPDATE. They admitted on the forum that the update had a major bug IN SEPTEMBER and it's their top priority to provide a fix ASAP. So far nothing. They might push an update in November to pretend they support their phones 3 years but in 2020 we received the worst support ever with 1 unusable update and no security patch updates. My next phone is definitely gona be a Samsung or Pixel to truely get timely updates for 3 years. People need to know oneplus abandon old devices, they did the same with 3/3T and even worse with the OP2! Sorry for ranting, but if you are looking for long term support stay away from oneplus devices.
I'll be upgrading from 5T to 8T. I care about, Screen size and Res, Battery size and power hold. Ram. and storage. I dont care about Camera. Wireless charging or cabled charging speed Ect ect. I care about headphone jack and maximizing lithium battery life. Thats why 8T to me is a purchase definitely. and i fkin hate curved screen.
@@SS-gw3cbbtw...one plus 8t has ip rating! If Verizon and T -MOBILE paid for ip rating ...then it has!!! I doubt that ONE PLUS made two different OnePlus 8t's ! So one plus 8t does have ip rating! One plus doesn't wanted to pay for it cause phones would cost much more!!!
Your specs for the pricing is wrong on the video. It's 12GB RAM 256GB that you get for USD 749. Unfortunately the lower spec model is not available in the US. Actually the lower spec model (8GB RAM) costs even less than $699. They're just playing around with their pricing this time around for the OnePlus 9
I think oneplus had gone overboard..the review got those nice and catchy box while the rest customer got only plain box. What does the oneplus thinking? Only appreciate the reviewer but not the customers? Where they think their profits came from? The reviewer or customers?
You are wrong about the 50 USD additional price, the 8T variant that is getting launched in US comes with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage so it is actually 50 dollars less than the launch price of 8.
So my s8 plus decided to give up on life, when the brightness is low, the screen gets weird vertical lines and flickers bright white however in high brightness it doesn't. Shld I upgrade to this
If you're in the US, the Galaxy s20 FE may be a better deal. If you care about wireless charging and water resistance, go with the FE. Personally, I went with the OnePlus 8T coming from Samsung due to the superior software experience and the 65 watt fast charging. That warp charging comes in CLUTCH
i don’t quite get the fascination of android oems to put curved edges on their phones. there’s a lot of key areas on their phone needed to be improved yet they are giving their users something doesn’t make sense/unusable
Can't stand Samsung but OnePlus isn't making a convincing argument. Another feature Samsung has over the 8t, SD storage. Seems the 8t is overpriced big time for what you get. Fast charging sucks when your battery doesn't last a year plus dual batteries degrade faster. $750 no thanks and no I wouldn't buy the FE either. Samsung sucks but here... They have more features and better pricing. Not to mention no HDMI output...
But the launch price and statistics at 13:51 isn't correct. There is no 128gb/6gb 8T at $749. That's the 256gb/12gb for $749, and in other places of the world it's around $649 for the 128gb/8gb version.
I like your review but you messed up one detail here: the $750 price point gets you 256gb of storage and 12gb of RAM in north America. The 6gb/128gb variant is cheaper. So that is a consideration for value
Right now, especially with OP's commitment to 3 OS upgrades and 3 years of security patches, the 8T, even a year later, is looking like a strong value right now at Best Buy for $495.00. The intro price of $499 just ended for the Moto Edge 2021. It's now on sale at Best Buy for full retail of $699, and, except for the battery size, its spec sheet doesn't hold a candle to the OP 8T. I might return my Edge 2021 after seeing this video.
The 8T is a better deal in Europe. That being said, it's clear that both the 8T and 20FE are intentionally gimped so they don't steal the spotlight from their more premium siblings. The camera on the 8T, while it performs better in a few scenarios, seems inferior compared to the regular Oneplus 8 (a lot of the shots from the 8T were noisy with loss of detail). The 8T is a bit disappointing. At this point I think I'd rather wait for the Oneplus 9 which hopefully will also have a flat display.
I don't where you got the discount price of $599 US, I just dropped $820 US at a Verizon retailer for an out the door prepaid OP 8 5G UW.. VZ does not sell the 8T much to my dismay, only T-Mobile sells the 8T which would mean switching carriers. After a disaster for trying to set up the free 30 day trial with T-Mo hotspot, I was not at all willing to make that leap.
Contemplating between this and the Asus Zenfone 7 Pro... ... the scarcity and high price tag of the Asus device is slowly pushing me to this "wonder"! Kinda feeling this device Oh! The review music s dope! Looking into the artist... Great work as usual!
T-mobile jump on demand. Just use the phone as a place holder until the 875 chips are released and the bugs worked out. 5G is going to change so much over the next few years that it is best to use the Jump on Demand program until all of 5G is fully rolled out.
f op 8t would have got a telephoto lens like mi 10t ultra zoom capability ....it would have been such a big hit. crappie op dont know where are they going, launched the same set of cameras as in op 7 even in 8t.
This was my first #oneplus phone, So I cannot compare to previous models. Getting it a year later at a reduced price was a great value. Great review. Thanks.
The camera in the 8T is really bad. I have the 8T now, I compared it to my old oneplus 3 and my old phone taking way more detailed photos with better colors (same results with gcam).
I just took advantage of the buy one plus 8T get one half off for my wife and I. So $563 per phone.... Hopefully it lasts me 2+ trouble free years if had with the 6T...
I think the reason for the price difference was due to the fact that US only has the 256 GB storage , 12 GB ram model, else the 128 GB variant should come in at the same price of USD 699, when comparing their EU pricing for both variants.
But if your not from the USA tahn there is no point getting the more expensive option. Your not gonna need that extra 4 ram and 120gb of storage space is all you need. In the UK I can get it for £550
@@gadmcewen1907 That is true, but unfortunately, the reseller in Singapore is sorting the phones by colors - Aquamarine is the 128 GB and the silver is 256 GB... :S I wanted that Silver model though T.T
