I know this is an old comment, but i really can't freaking believe they made a matte black version and don't sell it in the US. The other colors are just flat out ugly. Really disappointing.
@@s0shadow Damn, I didn't know that they're not available in the US. That sucks! I'm just really thankful that I am not an American. I love my matte black OnePlus 9 Pro 🖤
Dude, no matter how much I hate them an old school guy like me started using Bluetooth earphones. I can understand why the brands keep removing that jack out. It is an old tech :/
@@fenristhegeek I tried bluetooth for like 3 months than yeeted them in the trash. Im somone who wears heaphones 24/7 and cant deal with charging them. Ive still got ptsd from the digital lady telling me that my battery was running out. Im super happy that my note 9 still got the headphone jack and after my experience with Bluetooth i will never go back.
@@fenristhegeek It's all about convenience and robbing off the people from having an option. You don't remove the staircase from a building if you have elevators (just because staircases are thousands of years old). You can have both at the same time - one option doesn't necessarily have to be removed to use another. Also, wired headphones/earbuds lasts way longer (in terms of product life) than Bluetooth counterparts, as they have a battery and anything with a battery will only last until the battery lasts. Which means that the airpods or any other "wireless" headphones/earphones will be nothing but trash after 3-4 years as their battery can't be replaced - adding more to the already large amounts of E-waste - harming more to the environment. I don't understand how people don't get this simple fact?!
@@ravirajyaguru5905 u r %100 right but here is another fact. All the brands are kinda working on the same tech and yet some of them are taking a lead and release before others by risking the overall view of the company might turn bad by users. Then, the coming years that brand is gonna be remembered with that risk which dumped it. Like Apple has removed charger kit and the other have been having fun of the company and just because the users hasn't reacted big enough to make them step back other companies followed it. This jack port should've been kept all along and yet Noone has given a shit and here we are almost no brand left to put that simple part in their phones. They just simply keep seeing how the land lies and act accordingly. And that, my friend, is the reason why nobody wants to see the facts you have just stated.
Update after the updates: Performance is nice, but still has weird jank here and there. The cameras have gotten significantly better, but processing still can result in the out of frame or missed subject in photos. The battery life is okay, but I'm also a heavy user. Constantly uploading photos, taking photos, videos and editing. Also lots of video and music related stuff. The next update for November isn't out yet, but I'll come back once it is in the case it makes a groundbreaking change for the OS.
@Tim M yeah the uncomfortable ones are the pro max. Sure wish apple would get rid of the classic feel, it’s a nice throwback and homage sure, but I would never pick lack of grip which could potentially lead to slips and ultimately damage, over design, nice to have and look at, but in the long run a lot of people are gonna be looking at damaged phones because of it, which personally, is much uglier than the other design.
Based on the shape, I would say they were Minneola tangelo's. A cross between a tangerine and a grapefruit. Very popular in the US this time of the year. I have several in my frig but as for color they are a slightly darker shade of orange than an actual orange. You can Google it if not familiar. Very juicy and good but that was a bad picture if that's what they are
Those are actually called Sumo tangerines. The best tangerines ever. In season starting in February. Cross between Satsuma tangerines and navel oranges? They peel easy and have size of an orange
@Konstantin Zaremski And they look for cost-effective ways to cross items off their launch checklist, while Marques has built a brand around his passion for videography. I'm sure there are studios out there that would create CGI that is comparable or even better to what Marques produces, but that expense obviously doesn't make sense for "smartphone launch #13". My only input is that we shouldn't be surprised that he does a better job at videography, since he doesn't work under the same restrictions that those contractors do. This is mainly a defense of the people who work on the CGI and marketing videos because they have to make the most with what they have, and probably even struggle to get paid after delivering the project.
I still use my 7pro and it works great! I won't upgrade until OnePlus makes another full screen phone. I feel like I would be downgrading getting a phone with a notch.
Notch honestly doesnt bother me but, but ive had my 7tpro Mclaren for like a year and a half almost and it works like brand new not even a scratch on it. Before that my S8 didnt hold a charge and was literally splitting in half, the back/battery from the screen and the pixel burn was the entire keyboard, icons, it was impossible to read shit.. But this phone will be good for more than a year more..and i have no issue waiting to upgrade til new chipset and their software updates with android with hasselblad develop a bit.
@@othisoaes yeah i mean theres like 1 or 2 companies that have utilized under screen cameras successfully. I dont see why one plus popup camera wasnt continued, maybe the extra drop sensor or mechanism didnt fit right with their new interior design or something idk. But it was a winner in my book. But even the new flagships dropping still have notch cameras so until in screen cameras become the new norm thats just what its gonna be. Unless you get something else niche like one of those back camera modules that flip out to the front when u wanna use selfie cam. Which im also not totally against as you get twice as good selfie camera that way using the bigger more advanced sensors, including your ultra-wide sensor, for the selfie cam which automatically makes it superior to every front mounted sensors in all phones. But again, that means a bulkier and niche design with much more intrusive moving parts than a simple notch or even a small pop+up like the OP 7t Pro. I wouldve liked to see OP put a back camera grade sensor in the pop up considering it dedicated that space and popup for just a camera. Maybe even the same sensor as the back. Would've made it just that much better. Either way i dont use any of the cameras that much on any device so its rly the last thing i care about on a device. I know its a big thing for alot of other ppl who take alot of photo/video self-media tho and even tho i don't use it much and its the least important aspect to me i still wont get a device if the camera/sensor system either isnt competitive in its class or the system gets in the way of the device, as in looks, performance, etc.
Anyone else just bored of phone news? I used to be obsessed with every new phone but now... I didn't even know this one was launching. Phones are so boring now. Only exciting progress these days are foldables, everything else will just be standard improvements.
@@jali96 no, it's for likes. This gets likes, so everyone needs to say it as soon as possible because all that matters in youtube is getting a top comment.
Love this guy! One of the most articulate, intelligent, and fully informative and interesting reviewers I’ve encountered ever, and that’s saying a LOT from me! Marques is SO smart and covers everything I need to know and more! Honestly, I’d probably watch him do anything. I am wondering, though, if this phone will charge on the charger with a cover on it, or will I always need to take the cover off to do it? That would be a game changer to me right away! Can’t be bothered to take it out of a wallet case every time!

@@colin9630 they're very similar. OxygenOS allows you to make a bunch of useful tweaks that I like better. But it's almost indistinguishable from stock.
@@colin9630 I would like to say a few things. If you want oxygen, go with something more expensive than n100 or n10 . Those are , no offense to OP not that great of a deal at the price. If you want a similar experience you could just use a custom rom on an unlocked pixel . Those have more features and some like dot os or others manage to look unique too
@@mathieul4303 i expected more from the collaboration. Apple and Samsung have their cameras on lock. I love my OnePlus 7 pro but I don't feel I'm gaining much from switching to those cameras.
The one plus 9 pros camera has come across to best from regular software updates . Consider the price & comparing it with any phone S21 ultra or the apples it's much better value . In India OP 9pro retails at 800 USD while the big boys are at 1400 USD ( base variant ) . So Op is 🤞🤞🤞
Great video. Just got 2 at TMobile...FREE if autopay 24 months. Not buy one get one....both were free, just pay sales tax. With their over 55 discount I am now saving 150 per month over ATT and have 2 new phones. Shop around people. Subscribed.
I remember how ahead of the times Oneplus seemed when they released the 7 Pro, AND it was only $669! This phone seems nice but doesn't have a price or features to stand out from a Samsung flagship anymore, which is why I'm sticking with my 7 Pro for at least another year
1. The Hasselblad collaboration also touches the sensor calibration itself according to OnePlus. The sensors are customized Sony sensors. It's not just a software/firmware color correction/balancing thing. 2. The ultrawide lens itself removes the distortion you normally get with ultrawide lenses. There's no software lens distortion compensation. It's another Hasselblad collab feature.
Great review Marques. Just ordered the 12/256 Oneplus 9 pro in Pine Green for about INR 62K ($840) here in India from Amazon. Can't wait to get my hands on it.
You know whats funny. Oneplus started initially as a value for money, packing what you need and durable relative to a reasonable price. As technology and economy advanced, people asked Oneplus more for less..which is *dumb* and the fact they are prolly the one phone company most close to its community and still pushing out phones with no gimmick(besides the chromatic thingy).....They ignored when people was asking wireless , which was slower at that time to its wired..now that it's ACTUAL FAST wireless they complain price
@@tarushgupta6616 price is not the problem its OVERpriced for a thousand dollar phone and with so many corners cut its almost unbelievable how anyone can consider this worth a grand its a 600-700 dollar tops phone - 256Gb max when others are offering 512GB (theres also the issue of 12 on the OP vs 16GB of ram on other phones but its overkill at this point) - Lack of a periscope camera - Lack of OIS on the vanilla 9 (absolutely fucking stupid when its 900 dollars) - Outdated Gorilla Glass 5 thats seen only on midrangers - cameras were, still are, and will always be dogshit compared to even their own sister company oppo lol not to mention OnePlus not having a particularly good track record with updates and security patches (samsung out of all companies are beating them lol what a time to be alive)
Yeah the fingerprint sensor is weirdly placed compared to other phones, but as a person with an iPhone with Touch ID home button, i feel like that would be natural to me - I’m used to reaching for the bottom of the phone to unlock it
@@cheemsthegreat8125 More like Apple: Our customers (and especially shareholders) don’t want chargers because they care so much about the ($$)evironment($$).

I was watching the actual One Plus event a while ago and thinking to myself, “I bet Marques already has a review of this phone waiting to be uploaded” and now here I am watching the actual review
I'm still using my 1+7pro and plan to for the foreseeable future. It's just feels like they've gone a step back in innovation with the pop up camera and full screen display and never came back from it. Hole punch is a non sale for me.
@Ishan that's some real indian sense of humour. Ha ha ha. We all had a laugh, now you can go back to scamming people over fake Microsoft tech support centers
Wish that charging speeds came to Samsung and iPhones, everyone uses the excuse that oh the battery will degrade faster though. 1) who cares your back to full in 30 minutes 2) few people keep their phones longer than 3 years still usually opting to trade them in or just buy a new phone anyways so your battery will be fine.
@@chills5814 hey man, i had it for a year and let me tell you i love. like i have some fan boy apple users as friends and let me tell you how they are surprised when i show them pics and videos and even games ( LoL, cod, genshin impact and recently pokemon unite ) they are surprised at the screen to body ratio and how clean and bright the screen is too. They say its like in 4k and what not. great for social media , no lag to switch from apps. I am a HEAVY phone user. from music, to youtube to gaming. HOURS in all of them EVERYDAY. At this point what is making me get the 9 pro or pixel 6 is that battery. What i mean by that is i feel i burned the battery super fast ( fast charging and obviously using it most of the day) and so I just want to start fresh haha. Don't get me wrong, I still get a day out of it ( like when i work and i only put music or RU-vid and casually scroll through social media. but before, i used to get a day and a half or 2.

He's not alone, oneplus is not innovating like they've been doing in the past, and the increase in price due to the Hasselblad branding doesn't justify the high cost.
@@luisfuentes4824 I don't think they're using the partnership to increase the price tag. I think that would have happened regardless if you look at how their prices have been creeping up with each new phone they release. It's clearly their business model now to place themselves amongst the other top tier flagships, for better or worse.
Thanks for the review. But at this price point, there are other better option with better cameras to choose from. I know hasselblad camera are great, but like all new collaboration it will take some time before they truly finetune the camera to compete with the big guys like Samsung or Apple.. Until it reach there, I feel they should have kept the price at reasonable level in order to built consumer confidence & get more people to try out their phone. Over hyping the camera & bad move with the price. Is not gonna help them.
You Americans are lucky. While the Google Pixel 6 is $600 over there. Here in Europe it was €800. Google really loves to rip Europeans off. While OnePlus 9 Pro is $800 in the US and also €800 in Europe. Seriously, if Google didn't rip us off like this, I would've probably bought a Google Pixel instead of a OnePlus 9 Pro that constantly crashes a couple times a week.
I definitely feel that way. I feel like they peaked with the 6 and 6+ and have been playing catch-up to to high-end flagships ever since. Honestly, the midfield-phones were dominated by Oneplus, but they've since lost a lot of that market to play with the big boys and so far, they're pricing/offering ratio just hasn't been enough to convince anyone that they're worth a serious look
It's by design. They don't want to be the "niche, flagship killer" association anymore, because there's no money in it. They want to be looked at as a big player now. They have become what they swore to destroy....
That red cable in the background is driving me nuts! I kept thinking there is something you want to highlight with it until I realized it’s just a cable...anyways...great video as always!
I laughed when he said "it's not" about the new camera system. 😂😅🤣📸 One plus and hassleblad really thought they're gonna make a game changer. But they didn't.
