In my case the problem started while I visited Turkey in my holiday. It was a warm day and when I wanted to check my phone, it acted real weird. Back in the Netherlands, still having this problem, I did some research and landed here. So it seems to be warmth and hardware related indeed.
Thank you for the video! Very detailed and I do agree with you. My friend and I bought oneplus (6 total) and all 6 had this issue. We all sold the phone as oneplus didn't RMA any device. I tried for couple of months from sending them videos, waiting for replies, not replying, they also closed my ticket and told them to open it so we can continue but they said to open a a new ticket and start all. Over again then more videos and flashing it my self again. At the end they made an appointment to enter my computer and control it to flash it them self. He didn't show up. Ticket closed again because I didn't reply in 3 days (it took them 2+3 weeks to reply for each message). Eventually I sold the phone since I can't RMA it.
Fawzi Breidi Support is crap. I don't know. I wanted to sell it and get a new one, but all OPOs are affected. Considering buying the Nexus 6, but I want an LED :/
ironicly i bought another OPO 2 months ago and it doesnt have the problem. it overheated once like crazy for a whole night after messing around with root. the screen is still responsive. so why i bought it again? i got the lg g3 and i didnt like the screen at all. very bad quality panel and sharpening everything with low contrast and very low brightness made me appreciate oneplus more.i know i wont have support or rma if anything happen.
***** sorry for the very late reply and i assume you already made your decision. let me give you 3 solid choices. Asus Zenphone 2 (for budget) S6 Active (if you dont mind the style this should be your ONLY choice) LG G4 (if you care about the style) The S6 active dominates everything in the market with a huge battery. G4 should be your second choice. if you are under a budget, get zenphone 2. i tried it for couple of months and this phone flies. Faster than any phone i ever encountered.
Thank you very much for this video, i'm experiencing the exact same problem with my OnePlus One since a couple days bag when it was quite warm outside. Since then I got touchscreen issues also at normal room temperatures. I'm filling in the RMA request right now and send a link to this video to OnePlus, I hope they can repair my device.
This is a very detailed investigation thanks. I've had my opo since about 1 month and I haven't experienced any such problems yet even though I live in India and it's probably the hottest summer we've had. I really hope this problem doesn't occur and ruin this phone for me. I do hope oneplus saves their reputation and lives up to their honor. But judging from their responses so far they seem to be blaming it on the consumers. They've screwed up big time and we're the ones paying for it. I hope they issue an official statement and do the right thing
Same problem here in Germany. Got my device in October 2014. First issues occurred on April 2015 on CM11. Now on CM12 now difference. Issued Ticket a few days ago. Today it will be 35°C outside. Let's see what my phone will do :D
They have sent me a patch to install. Problem is, it would clear all data and settings on the phone. I have a problem with that and asked if there is something I can do as an OTA-update.
Makes sense to me. I went to southern California and the issue started, put it in the AC vent and it helped. I've had mine 6 months and it's been perfect until now
Du battery saver app watches temp app that are rising the temp in the backgound saver your battery by optimizing the phones process that may be run with out you knowing it. Give it a try it's free.
i'm in NY. No issues like this until now. Device is about 3 years old. Issue started last night. We're in Mid Fall, so its not the weather. Feels like a software bug. Error message - launcher isn't responding. No respond to touch at all except double tap to wake. Can device be factory reset from recovery? Wiping cache didn't solve the problem. HELP!!!
Very good video and really informative. I don't have that issue with mine but now I'm going to keep this in mind going forward. I only wish I would have known about all the issues with this phone before I purchased one. I had a charging issue a week after i received mine and One Plus replaced the phone for me. I don't recall having any issues with my Galaxy Note 2 and it is still going strong. I guess the saying that "you get what you pay for" is true after all.
definitely agree it's a heat issue. Went out of the country and it was in the high 90's with humidity. Phone did not like the weather what so ever. constantly having ghost swiping and lag. Came back to the So Cal...still was having that problem but not as often. Heat is causing the Hardware to fail. Going to switch to my backup phone for now. dont like all the random messages being sent out thanks to ghost swiping .
This phone always had problems since begining. i was early adopter of this phone but its software always dissapoints. My first OPO had lockreen infinite loop problem, then OPO2 had texting problem and now this..
I think your right about the weather.I have the same issue. I contacted OnePlus and they forced me to make a video proving that I am having an issue. I sent the video today and am waiting to hear back. Where did you hear that it takes a month to get your replacement?
Hey I looked into your vid and first of all: thanks for the advice as I'm considering buying one (as I see this video probably the upcoming OP Two). I do have a questions which could solve the puzzle: If the grounding cable comes in contact with the metal part of the case causing trouble, would it solve the problem to simply buy a case which prevents you from touching the metal part? Cheers
This problem still exists or is it fixed? is the phone worth to buy? im about to buy my first Smart phone and i got around 300 Euros and i cannot Decide which one to choose from... Thanks for your time.
Describes the issues that I'm having here in southeast Canada (yeah there are different temperatures in Canada... it's a big country). Got the phone in October 2014, and running CM12
Hi, I have the same problem with my OpO. Since two month I follow all the procedure to repair it. They have made an appointment to enter my computer too this sunday. But I think this is not a processor problem but really a material problem.
i dont think its because of the weather. i stay in malaysia which is pretty much summer all year and it doesnt happen until 3 days ago!! They say there is a new nightly built for OPO just wondering if you have tried it before?
Played music from this phone in the shade for a few hours. Typing is impossible afterward. Will this company actually address the problem? I don't want to send it for warranty just to get the same problem.
I live in Florida where it's always hot, and since I got the phone in November, I haven't had any issues until now, in late May after recently rooting on cm12. I don't feel like messing with RMA because of the horror stories I've heard. What's the next best phone I can get off contract? Xiaomi?
now im 100% sure that the hot weather is the reason, because my touchscreen problem started when i sat in the sun with my phone in my hand, I live in the Netherlands and it was around april.. it was the first hot day... the sun was shining very hard, and at that moment.... my touchscreen didnt work as good as before. Sow for the people who are waiting for an udpate.. i think an update is not going to fix the problem. Only thing you can do is send your One back to Oneplus i think.. :/
i live on india and its quiet hot in here at above 35°C and i face some different issue, touchscreen recognises the touches but sometimes a grab releases and i have to do the action again, i thought that its a issue on my device because of the tempered glass i have installed as no REVIEWER actualy mentioned it.
i think you are absolutly right, thease issues started more recently as i was running MKX on my phone and it became very hot. This is some major bullshit and i fucking hate the phone now. Fucking piece of shit
Macusercom1 for me this issue was fixed after i started using a flip cover i know flip covers are ugly and increase your phone size but this issue was fixed permanently
Same problem here, also with cyanogen on the back, friends of mine does not have cyanogen on the back and they don't have the problem. I also have a darker white color on my display when everything is the same of settings and brightness. So weird.
