I think for smartphones we've reached a point where it's all about preference now. The camera, the hardware, the software it's all at peak now with some minor tweaks here and there according to the brand's taste.
@sidersproductions941
@sidersproductions941 9 месяцев назад
That's very true and there are minor hardware advantages here and there like the 1" type sensor and 10x periscope telephoto lenses and software like Sonys 4k120 video recording that One Plus has st one point. Waiting to see if it returns with the OnePlus 12 cause that's a game changer for me.

It’s all mostly UI. Go use a Samsung from 2 years ago and a pixel from 2 years ago. The Samsung will feel like shit and be sluggish while the pixel will preform as if it’s new.

Ivd had all the foldables from Samsung and the pixel fold. Ended up getting rid of all of them after a week I've had the Open for a couple weeks now and absolutely love it. I do not feel like I'm sacrificing anything, other than magsafe due to no wireless charging. But it doesn't matter because I don't need it. It charges so fast I can plug it in for 10 minutes if in a hurry and get all the battery life I need to be on the go thanks to the super fast charging

Got it a day and a half ago. Gotta say...they kinda put their whole leg into this one...I've used the fold 5 and pixel fold which I still have and...this foldable gets so much right. The fold 5 is too skinny and its cameras are cool, the pixel fold has good cameras but gets some foldable fundamentals wrong...this is genuinely the Goldilocks foldable. It gets WAAAAY more right than it does wrong and almost all the things I find wrong can be fixed with software updates. Solid review as always and thanks for the history lessons...New York is where I was born and raised and it's always good to learn something new about home.

I've had the Open for 3 weeks now. It is a beast and totally worth the price. I've used the multitasking quite a few times and it really does come in handy. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 was meant to be opened and the inner screen used more. The pixel Fold was meant to be kept closed and the outer screen used more. The Oneplus Open was meant to be either, the outer screen for normal texting and calling, etc and the inner screen for multitasking, watching videos etc. You hardly see the crease as well which was the final point for me to buy it. I wasn't going to buy a foldable until there was either no crease or one that was minimal. The Open is the only foldable in America that fills that spot.

The Open's camera results are inconsistent. One thing I've noticed is it does not seem to handle sunlight well. I thought it was just on photos but some of the video of you sitting in the park looks red. The Open's camera has the hardware, but the results I've seen have not shown a definitive edge over the Z5 in the comparisons. I think they just released an update. Maybe that will change things.

Anyways I have tried the new folds in store and I just don’t like the hinge compared to the older z fold 2. Because they’re all like spring loaded now. The wireless charging complaint is so ridiculous on a OnePlus device when they give you ACTUAL fast charging AND the CHARGER IN THE BOX. Wireless charging is far less efficient and more damaging to long term battery health. RU-vid reviewers make the same complaints all the time about OnePlus but don’t complain that Apple, Samsung and Google took chargers out of the box and didn’t complain when Apple took away the headphone jack. Wha about those folks who bought nice wired headphones or earbuds? Please keep the same energy for these other OEMs that everyone always seems to have for OnePlus. Other than that, good review. But the wireless charging thing is so irrelevant given everything else that OnePlus has on offer here
@magicman322
@magicman322 9 месяцев назад
Yeah I disagree completely on this. Using a slower charger for wireless charging charger does zero damage to the battery and it's fine in a downtime, top-up situation. It's just a false choice. We should have both. Unequivocally. Just a bad call by OnePlus and very annoying. I have enough chargers, don't need more junk lying around. I applaud no more charging bricks. Just get rid of the IR blaster and give me something useful, like wireless charging. As for the headphones that's a false equivalent too. Buy a very cheap adapter, stick it on your wired headphones and you never think about it again. I know, I've done it with my Sennheiser headphones and it's a completely fixable non-issue. Unlike missing wireless charging.
