David Resendes I completely agree! I don’t think anything can compete with this song. Granted there are a lot of great writers, but this was definitely a beautiful creation!
Heidiinphilly the high notes are sung in falsetto, most trained singers can sing high in falsetto. His chest range is pretty good too, but not that extraordinary.
Pamela Lindsey I never said he couldn’t. This is a really great performance, my point was just that falsetto singing is not a good metric for vocal range, because even singers with limited range can do it.

I mean even though we know Ryan has that all too rare ability to reach into our soul with his musical talents, not everyone is going to agree! And that's is so ok otherwise what a boring world we would be living in!!
I dont know why, in live version it's much better from studio version, maybe I can feeling all the stories from the song while seen Ryan sing the song live. I love 1R forever
What it's interesting about live performances of this song is that he seems to sing the chorus with mixed voice while in the studio version he sings it with falsetto.
This is the reason why I love OneRepublic. Whenever I hear Ryan voice I got goosebumb bcoz his voice is just phenomenal and when he sing he sing with his heart and he always amaze me. Love you Ryan.
I'm obsessed with this song. I watched the show and development of it. It's incredible. The songwriter has real talent. Happy 1 Rep got a hold of this song. Totally awesome.
I love the ppl OneRepublic and Imagine Dragons attracts! I will always be more partial to ID bc they do so much more to bring their message to life, but Ryan Tedder has an equally beautiful heart and I had one of the best nights of my life at 1R concert! ID is high energy and passion and that's just tough for anyone to beat!!
Ryan is a great singer and it doesnt take a genius to see that this song meant some thing to him , for some reason I believe that he went through THAT episode in his life personally....
I absolutely love that Ryan/OneRepublic is one of the few, if not the only, singer/group that sounds just as amazing live as they do in the studio. Mad love and respect to their art.
I was at this show and somehow only saw this video now. The feeling of being of that show was surreal. Was there on vacation from Canada and being surrounded by palm trees, as the sun was going down during one republics set was a surreal feeling.

This song sounds better in live concert. I don't like its studio version :( I hope there will be live versions of the songs on the album. They always sound better.
I do like the studio version, but I love live better. Until today, I thought the professional Red Rocks version was best, but I absolutely LOVE this version - I love the cello which was lost in Red Rocks because of the orchestra violins. This version is absolutely awesome! It’s an amazingly haunting song. Ryan Tedder has an amazing voice. I love OneRepublic. My favorite band for a long time now. Had the opportunity to see them in Canada this past summer. Third row center stage floor. I was in heaven! 💞💝💗💘
