The S-Series motor is now available as an individual off-the-shelf part. Follow along with Austen and swap in a new motor for your GT S-Series at home. The S-Series motor is also a good upgrade for GT owners looking for more torque off-the-line and improved thermal performance. This is the first step in a future of modular-level repair. It's incredible how it took this long. Been offering replacement tires for users to install, and verified this is a non warranty voiding procedure yet never released torque specs for the bolts holding the axle to the rails. Torque specs for every board would be very appreciated

Should note that torque spec is probably only valid on fresh FM bolts. Reusing bolts or a different thread lock may require a lower torque value. Appreciate a published number. Consider tossing in fresh bolts with each tire purchase.

Yes you would lose range to gain speed. Preference though, i like long rides and i'm not trying to eat sh** either with the speed cause i know how i am 😂

Nice work, great to see this. One thing I typically do is take one rail off, it’s a lot easier to remove and install the motor connector. In my opinion, you are less likely to damage anything.

Ive waited on buying a onewheel due to the lack of serviceability, but this video alone is making me reconsider. I really hope they keep going in this direction for a product at this price point. Yes it opens the door for knockoffs, but i would rather have the OW brand board and buy OW parts knowing it's quality and OEM.

So am I correct in assuming that you say the axle bolts should be replaced every time you take them out, but they are not included in the new motor package and not suggested on the motor purchase page?

I fumble on the retainer clip, and worry that it is not tight... Would it be safe to put a dab of hot glue on the connection for security purposes?

TP45 and 45IP are the same! Just a different way of designating that it's a Torx Plus bit, at least as far as I can tell.

If you're a GT owner swapping to an S motor will give you increased torque in low speed situations, so better off the line acceleration and better thermal efficiency. Good for the big guys

They had already started selling tires separately. The motor had to come out for tire change. So swapping a motor seems like the next logical step. This is most likely upgrades only. Not warranty work.

You should NOT be using a torque wrench to Unscrew. It's a tightening tool only! Why? It's easy to deform internal components and then is no more reliable. You can not know that happened unless you compare with a fresh torque wrench or try to calibrate it. Why I know? +1B $ commission, We had to redo all torque certification on cabinets in a power station. The worst part was removing permanent marks you put on torqued bolts, washers and cabinets. Kept rack of what was To do, done, and to double check😅 Unscrew with regular wrench, tighten with a torque wrench!
