My interactions with this particular brand of Christianity are identical to my interactions with militant vegans and political extremists (left AND right). What gets me is the condescension and the absolute belief that they -- and only they -- are right. The thought that they could be wrong or mislead seemingly never crosses their minds. They beat you with their righteousness and expect you to thank them for the bruises. So the fact that this commenter reflected on the interaction and apologized feels like a miracle all on its own. She's an example we all should follow; we don't always get things right on the first try, and it's OKAY to admit to a misstep. Your offering her grace is a further example of how we should treat each other. I'm so, so sorry about Brandy, and I hope your memories of her will be a blessing as you grieve.
I may be a Christian, but I would never impose my thoughts and beliefs upon another person. My relationship with God is between Him and myself. It even makes me uncomfortable to talk to someone that, with every single sentence, how the Lord loves this or that and I pray this and that, etc... My relationship with Him is a private affair. You do you! I respect your ideals. We are all equal in life's adventures. You do have a super human's life experience that you have chosen to share. It speaks of bravery, grit, tenacity, beating insurmountable odds, strength of character, and I could go on and on. These days with keyboard warriors is insane. They don't have to say anything to your face and risk getting their teeth knocked out. Lol. I'm glad that poster reigned herself in, realized that the imposition of faith was not helping you, rather hurting you. You shouldn't have to defend your position on life. Hugs from me.
@@littletraumamama I grew up in a Roman Catholic household, and the only thing I really disliked was having to stand in church because it was overcrowded and I could never find a seat resulting in me passing out a couple times. Then in my teenage years I started questioning the existence of the supernatural and became an atheist. Then as I grew older I realised the importance and impact that Christian values had on the world and became an atheist Christian. I don't believe in the supernatural but I believe in Christian values and would give my life to defend them. S|avery and taking advantage of those more vulnerable than yourself was seen as normal all around the globe before the British Christians came along fighting tooth and nail to end it. Humans are not naturally good. Humans have an equal amount of good and bad in them, Jesus just brings out the good in them, where they might otherwise choose to do something bad.

I think the best way to deal with trolls, religious or not, is to ignore them. I feel like they are like a little sibling who knows they got under your skin and will go harder to perturb. I'm sorry this happened and happens to you. Thinking of you and your TBI, emotional stuff can be so exacerbated by the things we usually can gloss over normally. Between another death, yourTBI (and dreaded doctor visits), getting Covid and needing to not receive proselytizing, yeah, you get to cry (as much as you need to even though you don’t like to). I know where they’re coming from because I used to think the exact same way, but it’s just so frustrating when you can’t make people understand the harm they are causing. But my daughter went to Auburn and majored in Agriculture. My husband and other two kids went to the University of Texas. Being from Louisiana, most of my family are LSU fans. It will be a wild time in the SEC as we are all big sports fans. I found your channel when I saw the “decapitation” and I had to see what the hell that was. I love my AL relatives, so you sucked me in. I have a cousin with a child with AT and I’ve been to UAB with them. Love that place. I was raised Catholic and baptized my children Methodist and went to church when they were young. I haven’t attended church in many years, but I’m still a Christian. But to each their own. Living in the Baptist Bible Belt of north Louisiana, I was an outcast Catholic. I refuse to do business with companies that advertise their Christianity in the ads. Thank you. I actually was always an Auburn fan until Lee and I got together. His whole family are big Alabama fans and I was always the lone Auburn fan lol. Now instead of saying in an Alabama or Auburn fan, I just pull for the SEC and want to see either one of them come out on top, so really, whoever is doing better (Alabama for the last, what? 10+ years!?) No one in my family has attended either university, so I don't really get into the rivalry anymore.
I'm sorry for your friend but thanks for this video. It's important to remember that NOT everyone thinks of the god as some good force that may or not exist. For some people the image of a god is an image of a bad person even if you portray the god as someone good.

Hi Christy! We never know what someone is going through. Sometimes we come across mean or rude when we're going through something that is tragic or we're really sick and don't mean to. I'm guilty of that. Since my mom died on June 22nd my emotions are all over the place and I can be snappy with people. I'm so sorry that you lost your friend Brandy and that you're sick. I hope you can find comfort. I have a question. Do you have "Survivors Guilt?" When you were talking about feeling guilty that people who died when they had an accident like yours or when a little girl died from cancer? None of this is your fault. I hope you can come to terms with that and not blame yourself anymore. I hope you can get well soon.
That's a really good question that I've never got to really share exactly how I feel about 'survivor's guilt'. In a world where people keep religion private, no, I don't have survivor's guilt because I KNOW that it was 100% out of my control; some people live and some people die. The problem starts when they start proselytizing to me saying things like "god saved you for a reason," "why aren't you thanking god?" "He saved you, so you can share your testimony"... things like that because it's like why would you think that god saved me {someone he knows (if he's real) will never come back into the fold}, but let kids suffer and die of cancer? Or letting a mom of 3 die at 39 years old in a car crash? It's when they put THEIR burden on me that it f*cks me up because deep down I know that some (because it's been said) that I'm a "waste of a miracle" for not converting back to Christianity. I hope that made sense.

That doesn't solve anything. Whoever said that you're a "waste of a Miracle" is being judgemental and they're flat out wrong! Who are they to judge you?! They haven't walked a mile in your moccasins! first, i am glad you managed survival. that is our biggest challenge sometimes and and too often, nope. the testament is to modern science and medicine, good people, and your will. for my part, i wont burden you with my story, but i get it. many of us have tried to avoid being a part of social media, only to be dragged into it, through the use of our mighty modern tool, this hand computer. i hate it, and try every day to leave it for good. i think we all need to. this will be another example for me. i appreciate that she got over it, but the damage was disgusting. good luck!

I never thought that I would live to see my children get married or see any grandchildren. Here I am 15 years and 2 rare cancers later. I don’t understand the why?? My daughter lost one of her best friends from Auburn. She died in a one car accident in Montgomery, AL. The driver lived and Ashley died and they delivered her baby that also passed away. A freak roll over accident with no bad weather or alcohol involved, and they were wearing seatbelts. I’m sorry about your friend. Hang in there.
That's awful! There's just no rhyme or reason when it comes to tragedy, and life can be unbelievably cruel to some, and unbelievably wonderful to others.
I respect everyone and their religion or beliefs/non beliefs, I don't understand how others can't. I grew up being told what to believe, doubting and questioning it was wrong, but when there are so many things that not only my mind doesn't understand but also my heart and soul do not understand or agree with then how can it be a good thing? or how can it be right for me? I can't blindly believe in something, especially when it was a belief forced upon many cultures during colonisation. Beliefs they never would have adopted if not being forced to. I feel the same when people say "things happen for a reason"... like there a so many effed up things that happen in this world and ur telling me its ok coz there's a reason for it??? because something or someone we are told to believe knows and does what's best??? Although these things don't make sense in my mind they may in someone else's, I understand that but don't try and tell me i'm wrong for what i feel. I won't tell u ur wrong for what u feel.

@@littletraumamama let’s take Jesus at his word when they called him the son of god. His response over and over is that we are all the same, we are sons and daughters and I would add “others” to the great bigness that is more than just one of us. He also knew that his life was not going to make everything “right” in our world, in fact that would be abhorrent to him - imo. His words (I have to offer a caveat that we may not really know his words), is that while knowing that he was not the savior, there were “greater things ye shall do”. Until we are doing these greater things, we don’t need to be talking about what we believe. And when we have done greater things, we won’t lamely refer to “beliefs”, which are all transient. I’m on to sing in the shower and send all of those suffering a gentle reminder that the harm is coming to an end and those of us who are fortunate to choose it, are changing it.
I would like to say something. If you don't have anything nice to say about Christy, don't say it at all. It is a miracle that she is still here to tell her story. I constantly see comments that are unnecessary. I don't want her to constantly have to tell people to stop. Here is one thing to think about, would you like that said to you and constantly feel defeated? She probably finds doing videos as a part of her mental therapy. You never know what another person is going through. Everyone has their own story and this is the way she wants to share it.
I mean, part of being on the internet so publicly is that people are going to tell you what they think and that's just part of the deal. It's the ones that just won't stop that just frustrate you to your core.
