Wow. What a fabulous video Justine. I started card making when I retired as a theatre nurse. I had two friends who made cards and watching them, I realized I had always enjoyed colouring and creating, so I gave it a go. Of course, now I am down that rabbit hole and I have improved tenfold from those early 10 years ago. You are an inspiration. Thank you, from Australia.
I started scrapbooking with Creative Memories and became a consultant. I am a huge fan of Cathy Z and followed her into card making, which opened my world to all of you!
I love this video. Full of great ideas. I too started as a scrapbooked. I then decided to make my friends wedding invitations. After that I was hooked. I now make cards for a nursing home and one off orders.
I've been scrapbooking for 18 years but over the last few years I have been making cards too. I now love to combine my scrapbooking with stamping layered flowers to use on my layouts
This proves the statement, LESS IS MORE! Thank you for giving time to simple creative time....and doing in steps so when you have time to be more creative you are ready...love this video and idea...Thanks for sharing.
I started as a stamper in the early 90s, then went into scrapbooking in the early 2000s, now back to stamping with a little scrapbooking. Always enjoy your videos, always learn something new, 😀. Thank you for sharing!🤗🙏
I bought a Silhouette and decided to make a card for my daughter, it is very primitive compared to what I make now but it turned out I loved making cards. I started watching card videos and now I have a very large craft room filled to the brim with stamps, inks, dies, paper and envelopes!!
Thank you Justine. I appreciate the detail you go to and your presentation style. I thought when I retired I would go into scrapbooking but card making beckoned me because of the quicker accomplishment feeling. You rock!
Brilliant! Making tags to use later is brilliant, excellent use of time for when you have no time to make a card start to finish. I also have to say the the way you use the large stamped image and pasted on the tags, also brilliant! Love your videos! I was always a crafter, since a young child. Did almost every craft there is, and for the past 6 years it’s card making - love paper, stamps and ink!
Why yes, I did star in scrapbooking. While watching a youtube video, I discovered dry embossing. My husband gave me a Cuttlebug for Christmas, and it all began. That was about five years ago. I first followed Gina k and still use her inks and paper and have dozens of her stamp sets. However, I branched out as I became more proficient. I recently discovered Altenew and am in love with their inks and layering stamps. I have been following you for a couple of years and always enjoy your cheery videos. I love your tags and the resulting cards. Thank you for sharing!
I started out in card making 20+ years ago. Never did get into scrapbooking. I honestly don't remember how I got started. Thank you for sharing your cards
I started card making about 20 years ago and then did some scrap booking but found more interest in card making and other paper crafts! Your tips/tricks for mass producing tags and then incorporating them into your cards is absolutely BRILLIANT! I am in love...
Your tags are amazing -- my favorites are the black and white ones. My journey was much like yours. I started out scrapbooking; first when we took trips, then when grandchildren came along. We're old now and don't travel anymore and the grandchildren are older, but I loved paper crafting. Card making was the answer. I could go to my craft room and "play" for a couple of hours, mostly inspired by artists like you. It's very satisfying and, frankly, it's been a blessing filling many otherwise lonely hours during this stressful time.
I started with papercrafting when my sister became a Stampin' Up demonstrator. I loved scrapbooking when my kids were little and I could do little 'getaways' with friends or crop nights at scrapbooking stores as a break from being a SAHM. Things have changed a bunch and I feel like I should use my paper and skills to celebrate those I care about with cards. I hope to get back to scrapbooking, but especially in these times of decreased social events I feel like happy mail is the most important thing I can create.
I started making cards. It only took one and I was hooked! I like to give to nursing homes where they sell the cards to make more money for the activity department. I love your videos, great tips and techniques. Thank you
Yes Justine I too got into scrapbooking and then needed to feed my creative side but not the stress of trying to figure out a page layout. Although sometimes card making can take as long as the scrapbooking a page did lol just the initial card anyway, all the planning and cutting that goes into figuring out a layout. But then I got into Stampin Up stamps and my cardmaking addiction began. I can be as created or simple in my creating as I have time for, and I (as you said in your video) feel so accomplished.
Like you, I dabbled in scrapbooking but found that I just was not creative enough to doe it “right”. So a friend told me about this lovely shop that had card making classes and I was hooked. That was 12 years ago and I still love card making. Thank you for your isdeas.
Wow! Your cards are gorgeous! Fantastic ideas that I will definitely try! Thx for a great video! In 2002, when my sons were 2 and 5, I started scrapbooking and I’m still doing it today, In fact, I just finished my oldest son’s college album and am starting my younger son’s. Family albums and vacation albums have been a joy to create, too. I fell in love with cardmaking about three years ago!
I just love all these tags and all the different ways you made them! I especially like your amazing misti stamping and were able to do such fast stamping! And how then you were able to make cards with these tags as well. So much inspiration. Thanks for sharing your Journey as well! How my journey began: My cousin came to visit and wanted to stop by a scrapbook booking store in town, and I went with her. My summer job was a fire tower and I knew I would have lots of time, so I bought some supplies and a scrapbook magazine. I went off to my tower and started scrabbook, but 1/2 through the summer I ran out of 12X12 layout sheets, but there was some card samples in the magazine so I tried to some cards, and I have been hooked on cards ever since! On my subsequent years , I had a hard time deciding on how much food I wanted vs. stamps and supplies I wanted to bring!
I started out sewing and tatting. I got into card making when I bought a Klutz card making kit when my children were young. I haven’t been a scrapbooker but am just getting into tiny scrapbooks and am planning to do one for an upcoming trip. 😊 I’ve really been enjoying watching your videos along with Jennifer McGuires and K Werners videos.
Great idea to start with a tag and move on to a card. Very nice selection, particularly black and white border tags. I started scrapbooking 20 years ago and have 16 large scrapbooks jam packed and only scratched the surface with 6 kids. I'm not a focused, one page to a birthday kind of scrapper. If the story of that day nerds 4 pages, it gets 4 pages. I switched to doing mostly cards teaching at a local scrapbook/crafts store. Most classes were cards and the cards for soldiers drives were in full swing. I still make a few cards, but I have moved on to art journaling and mixed media the most. Ever since I lost my adult military son, I find scrapping too painful. So cards and mixed media it is. I enjoy your videos, thank you.
I went from card making to scrapbooking. I figured I had all the supplies so why not??? The way I got started card making was with Carol Duvall. I saw her show where she showed how to heat emboss and I ran out to get the supplies right after it was over. I've been hooked ever since.
I started with scrapbooking then found card making. I love the albums I made; however, I love making cards now with all the wonderful products available. Thank you for another helpful video.
I started as a watercolor artist. I started painting to be able to paint cards to send. I got the itch to fancy them up a bit and also I had lots of sketches that I could cut up and use to make cards.Love your tag ideas.
Yes I started as a scrapbooker, and like you explained I moved into card making for more instant gratification And... with cards I get to share with others, where scrapbooking is for me & my kids
I started stamping and making cards in the early 90’s. I can’t remember how I got started. I scrapbooked for a number of years. But card making is what I really love. I love the black and white tags. Thanks for sharing.
I also started in scrapbooking. I was a CM gal.... eventually moving into cards. Now my hubs could possibly pay for my funeral but selling my craft stash!! Lol!! Great ideas Justine!!! 💁♀️💖
I am a scrapbooked turned card maker.... I still love scrapbooking but like you said the time is just not there! I dabble here and there every now and then but I love cardmaking. Been creating all my life. I love 💕 your tags and if you wish to part with just only one I’ll be glad to take it off your hands.... lol 😝 that tag set is on my wish list for real!
I stopped by a scrapbooking & stamping store and took a class using stampscapes stamps since those were more like art pictures to me. And the rest is history as a lot of people are stating. Thanks to RU-vid, I think we all are able to watch what interests us.😎
I don't do cards often, but like making on occasions. I like your techniques as they give me ideas I can use in my craft projects and journaling. ADEBO ☺
Lovely tags and cards! I was attempting to be a scrapbooker, but was overwhelmed. Took a stamping class at the community center and loved it. And still do!
Hi Justine ... I fell into card making and (so far) not looked back. Your ability to talk through different techniques in a manner that keeps you focused is praiseworthy. I’ve seen some great tags created on this hop but, your ideas are unique and fun. Think I’m going to give using tags to make cards a go and, watch your recommended video too.
Wow you should feel like you accomplished something. Quite impressive. I started as a card maker, tried out scrapbooking and quickly realized that working full time with three very active kids didn’t leave much time left for things like, uh, sleeping. So I tucked it away for later. Now heading into retirement I’m thinking it’s time to pull it out and download all those pictures work on those books and hand them off to those three kids. It will give their kids some good laughs I’m sure.
Cardmaking, I wanted to start my own business, but decided I just needed a hobby. Albeit an expensive one. I do love it though. There is just something so satisfying about melting embossing powder. 😀
I loved your video...so many ideas. I’ve been scrapbooking for like 20 years. I would venture into stamping off and on...but the last year or so doing cards. I find this has been a wonderful distraction away from so much to catch up on in scrapbooking. My stamp collection has gotten huge the last year or so...I am watching card videos a lot now. I miss scrapbooking, and have done a few small baby gifts, scrapbooks. I love the layer stamps from Altenew. Need to investigate the stencils that go with the stamps. Such a great idea.
Like you, I came from scrapbooking and didn't feel I was making much progress with my very limited time. Also, I was easily overwhelmed by choices for a 2 page layout or even an album organization so a card front seemed much more doable and I was more open to try a new technique on a quarter sheet of paper. Brilliant idea to make tags for quick crafting times, and I love the mass production technique and using every bit of your Courageous Blooms piece for tags too. So satisfying to get lots done at once. I'll be using these excellent techniques for Christmas cards.
I was always a quilter and then went to scrapbooking because I thought that was a more permanent keepsake as compared to cards but cardmaking and paper crafting is much quicker and more rewarding and people do save my cards and enjoy them
Love this video! I started with crafting with stamping on wood boxes then got into scrapbooking then cards and tags. I love using tags on the front of my cards. 💕
I love your videos! You're so real about not investing a mint to craft! And yes, I began with scrapbooking as well. I declared that I could never become a card maker due to the investments. And....here I am! LOL! So, thank you for including a frugality portion in many of your videos!
Great ideas! I’m not a scrapbooker. I never wanted to get into that hobby because it’s expensive. (LOL yeah go head and laugh)! While I dabble in many areas of crafting I was primarily into jewelry making. I started card making accidentally when I had some pretty handmade paper given to me and I decided to use it to make a card for my bestie. I didn’t even know card making was A THING, I thought I was being innovative.(ha!) I prefer cards over scrapbooks, I like the smaller canvas so to speak. Many stamps, inks, dies tools, later and I’m hooked. My jewelry and beads were lonely and a few years ago I gave them to someone who started and would appreciate them. Thank you as always for your wonderful videos!
What a cool way to create several pieces within a short period of time! You also inspired me to try the tag idea, but with layering them to create depth on a mixed media project. I will let you know how it works out.
Love love love these cards & you’ve given so much inspiration in this video! I struggle sometimes & take forever to make a card! I can’t wait to try these !!! I started out scrapbooking & then I watched a Gina K video, now I’m addicted to her products lol. Then I started making cards, after buying one of her stamp TV kits.
Great work Justine! I have never really considered tags for cards, but you perfectly demonstrated why it is a great idea! I started in scrapbooking, but realized I got more done when I made cards. I don’t think I have the attention span to scrapbook, LOL!
These are gorgeous! I never make tags, but I can see how satisfying it would be to get so much done at once. LOVE that big stamped/stencil background and how you just kept making more and more tags from it!
Love all your cards. I purchased a ScanNCut a few years ago to cut the fabric pieces for machine appliqué embroidery. I thought it would be cheaper to learn how to use it with paper instead of expensive fabric. I’ve been cardmaking ever since.
Oh, I tried scrapbooking back in the 1990's when there was next to nothing available for tools or ideas, at least not where I lived then. I spent hours cutting pictures & trying to incorporate them on the pages with written comments below, but my DH did not like the fact that pictures were cut. It's like it was "against the law". lol I gave it up. So, back in 2009 when I was forced into retirement due to health issues, two of my friends introduced to cardmaking & I took it up as a hobby. Over the years I've gotten better at it & yes, as with lots of others, my cards are among the "most expensive cards in the world" due to the many things I've purchased.
I love making tags, then using them on my cards. I started with cardmaking, then added scrapbooking. Love both but I'm partial to cards. Your tags and card projects are fabulous. Thank you for sharing your tips and inspiration.
I started out as a rubber stamper, mostly for home dec, and moved into cards when I discovered I could make my own Xmas cards a lot cheaper than buying them (this was before dollar stores)
Great ideas. I needed that! I too am a scrapbooker, and I still love it. I made cards mostly on my computer and a color printer, then later started adding scrapbook supplies to the cards. Then I found RU-vid and was really hooked. I still buy cardmaking supplies with an eye for using them on layouts too. I am just addicted to beautiful paper.😊
I love these cards and tags, so cute. Great video chickie! Love how you overlapped onto two at once...smart. LOVE those little banner strips you made too!!! Yup....started with scrapbooking in 94....lived scrapbooking, but card making won out in the end....lol. 😁😁🎨
