You are not alone this is common in many masjids, sadly from my personal experience when asked about why they don't speak about these topics and similar topics in general. The answer i received is that the masjid does not have anyone who learned enough. And i think most masjids believe you need scholarly title. I'm sure there are places that arent of these two camps.
