Only in the Philippines...
Bohol, Philippines has much more to offer than just the chocolate hills. Bohol, Philippines has some of the clearest water and nicest beaches I've ever visited. In this video I meet friendly Filipinos on my water to Anda, Bohol, which is now one of my favorite towns in the Philippines. This is the first video of the Anda, Bohol series in the Philippines!

That guy who sang could really converse, I mean all of them. Their limited English still made the vlogger able to understand what they were trying to say and they made him feel so comfortable. There's that famous Filipino warmth at work here. I'm just so proud being Filipino.

In English, the word "tuba" refers to a coconut wine, and "Tungog" (Mangrover tanbark) is the name given to the Tanbark that was used to flavor the wine. It facilitates the agitation of coconut wineIt or it aids in fermenting, making the wine out of the coconut wine. Particularly after fermenting for a little while longer, the fermented coconut wines can be made into coconut vinegar. We Filipinos jokingly refer to the farmer whose source of income is harvesting coconut wine from the coconut tree as a "Coconut Pilot." We Filipinos invented the term "Coconut Pilot" because climbing a coconut tree, especially one that is very tall and high, is dangerous and requires courage. "Hak-Hak" refers to the curving steps on a coconut trunk as "coconut notches" because they resemble a v shape, and that's where the coconut pilot steps on it to climb the coconut tree easily. However, certain Southeast Asians have their own method of climbing the coconut, notches on the trunk of coconut trees are only visible in the Philippines. "Butay" (boo-tie) is a coconut spade or coconut flower; the young coconut spade is where the coconut wine is produced.

"Tuba" a.k.a. the "brick layer", we jokingly refer to it as that because if you drink too much of it, the heat it creates inside your body is so very dehydrating that you end up shitting bricks the next day.

To offer a stranger something , be it a simple drink or a meager meal is considered a blessing and we always believe that kindness will be reciprocated back in some way, so don't ever feel weird for not paying or even feel obligated to do so. Filipinos will be content with a simple gesture of genuine appreciation. Sending you warm Pinoy vibes from Philadelphia 😊

Finally a new video after 2 weeks 😂 I googled Tuba for you to help you understand more. "Coconut Wine or Tuba is a sweet, fresh or mildly fermented sap taken from tapping the young expanded flowers of the coconut. It is popularly known locally as “Jungle wine,” it is also called coconut toddy. The tuba is poured into a fermentation vessel where it becomes vinegar after a couple of weeks or months when it reaches its natural acidity level". Watching from Cebu. Tuba is usually pertaining to the coconut wine. The sap from the coconut blossoms comes out kind of whitish, but they add something to it to aid the fermentation process. You can drink it right away or wait for it ferment for about a couple of day is best. Like any fermentation the first stage is the production of alcohol and as it progresses it becomes more acidic and the second stage is vinegar. The longer it sits the darker it becomes, also it depends on how much of that additive they have added. Coconut water comes from the water inside the coconut fruit. Coconut milk comes from an older coconut meat and then grated and squeezed and strained away the solid part or pulp. Coconut like any fruit have different stage of maturation and the best coconut water comes from the green young coconut.

Fresh tuba is called COCONUT NECTAR by the use of a collecting receptacle or bladder. After one week or so, it sours up and becomes VINEGAR. The HAK-HAK are simply called in English as NOTCHES, small cuts made on the coconut trunk to aid a "COCONUT PILOT" when climbing up a slender and tall coconut tree.
