I just need to say this: there are a lot of charming, beautiful, fashionable, lovable actors out there. Tom Hiddleston should be recognized mostly for his eloquence and introspective mind.
I caught the movie and I just adore it. The plot is bare bones but it's not trying to be an action thriller - this is one of the best character-driven stories I've seen. The music, the cinematography, the love story - brilliant.
As an Italian, I prey, I implore: please Italian journalists, learn your English! You don't need to become totally fluent, but it is your JOB to be able to communicate with these people. It's ridiculous.
Tom: I love his eyes,I love his blue suit, how he spends time thinking and trying to tell you his idea using the most beautiful and significant words ever. Jim : I love his wolverine hair. Tilda : I love how she is spontaneous and very confident.
Anna, thank you so much for uploading this. It was fascinating. They are all so passionate about it yet want us to draw our own conclusions and emotions. I am looking forward to seeing it even more now.
At 4:49, Jim thanks everybody in the audience for watching his film for the first time. At 3:50. Jim Jarmusch talks about how we waited seven years to create this film, and how Tilda Swinton and John Hurt were behind him supporting him the whole time. If you skip over them in this Cannes Festival interview where it was shown for the first time I will absolutely judge you.
@@EmersetFarquharson don't worry yourself. I did watch it. I also, watched the movie. I wish I had that time back to do something better. I Love the acting, but that movie was just janky and disjointed.
Today no one works with a gradient like they did in the past (19th century, etc.). I doubt this does either. I'll see it, but I won't go with great expectations.
Is it just me or is the atmosphere of this conference very tense? Tom looks rather uncomfortable thoroughout the interviews. The director is the most intense person I have ever seen. He looks a little scary!. I like that he refuses to analyze the film, because truly great art means something different to every person who watches it and to explain it would take away the experience for the individual viewer.
I'm a straight female. But Tilda really turned me on in Constantine. What's up with that? Am I going to hell for getting turned on by an Angel? TH reminds me of Trent Reznor so very much in this movie. 1994 rock star goth like. Think Closer.
I didn't enjoy this panel. Nobody had anything interesting to say about the film. Usually I like panels like these because new layers, concepts and motivations are revealed about the characters and the story and this panel didn't provide that. Sure, a movie should stand on it's own and provide that depth in and of itself, but if the filmmaker believes to have succeeded in achieving that, why do a panel, when you have nothing meaningful to add? Because of publicity, that's why, and that doesn't interest me. The tense, dull atmosphere also made it a challenge to watch. I mean, John Hurt basically came out of the gates saying: "I didn't know this about my character, it doesn't really interest me, nor bother me and I have no idea why it's even part of the movie at all but Jim is the boss, so... *shrugs*" And Tom Hiddleston, who always speaks of his characters with such conviction, seemed to be second-guessing himself, like it was an oral test and Jarmusch would grade him afterwards. Especially his first answer was oddly joyless and uninspired.
Seriously guys, this is in my to 5 worst films ever. How do you make great actors like Tilda Swindon & John Hurt sound wooden?: Put them in this film. Its bloody awful. And I think Tilda knows it. x
