Reading is really wonderful and provides great knowledge as well. But not good if you if you over do excessively. Reading so much small print for too long at a time is a strain to your eyes. But even worse that you did it for week on your Kindle. That's no different than a computer screen. That's really hard on your eyes. I really suggest that you should only sue your Kindle at a more limited pace.
