OnlyOffice: Best dark UI. LibreOffice: lots of functionality. Can't live without a proper dark theme. For my casual home use, I choose OnlyOffice.

Only office is a great way to get people who are new on Linux to be able to switch off of Microsoft and it helps people get on open source software and if they like that it can support the development of open file format. If they ever want to make the switch to something more open without a paid subscription service the option for libre office is always there.

Agree but the most annoying thing about only office is the ugly window while open a document/ adding picture. You gotta a clue how a could change this. Its really a pain in the eyes

Perhaps not as refined but libreoffice can make the menu look like microsoft. If you are not used to microsoft office libre office have by default the setting to use drop down menues that anybody that have used other applications should feel familiar with. I find the the functionality much more refined in libreoffice as well. e.g. I pasted a picture in onlyoffice and could not get past it to write under it, it was pushed down the whole time. Perhaps it would be possible but in libre office it was very intuitive, I could just use the arrow keys to get past it and start writing.

I wonder what version do you use to compare this two, because LibreOffice 7.x already have a built-in 'Ribbon' in their UI... Also, this review havent touch the question for almost everyone asked: how far will it mess up my format if my old docs from Microsoft Office? Can we have another video to compare which free Office app that read other office files better? (how they read special features better such as formats, paragraphs, fonts replacement, cliparts, 3D text, etc)

Hey, you do have a very good point here. Might do a more in-depth review of this, but this was more of a superficial review as I mentioned at the beginning. But thanks for the idea, might get to work on that soon. :)

I have recently decided that I want to move away from Microsoft for privacy concerns. However, the main problem that has stopped me from switching to Linux is MS Office. I have never used any other program, and I am quite fond of it. So now switching over would be very inconvenient. Onlyoffice seems to do a pretty decent job at reducing inconvenience, but what I really don't like is the interface of their desktop client. AFAIK, you can only scale the interface in 100% (which is way too small) and 200% (which is way too large).

Same here. Word, PowerPoint, and Excel have developed into great pieces of software over the years (due to large number of developers being at it). Workflow, features, aids.. Everything is smooth. As of now, none of the open source office apps (including LibreOffice) are anywhere as good as Office Suite. But I understand why. Second problem is compatibility. Currently I cannot confident make a document or presentation in LO and share it with someone using MS Office. Formatting goes awry. I like open source movement but as of now, I'll have to keep using MS Office solely cos of MS Office.

Bad and biased comparison. You got the name of this video wrong as it’s not really a office suite comparison (more like ‘word processing apps comparison’ ) as it only covers the word processing apps. FYI: You can change the ui to tabbed in Libre Office.

Why does RU-vid keep removing my comment? I am just placing a reply with my ideas about what would be the best software of these. (apparently RU-vid's very buggy algorithms recognise many totally normal things as something bad that should be removed, why?)

Yeah OnlyOffice is better, and even WPS office is a lot better than LibreOffice. The problem with LibreOffice other than the fact everything fucks up if you try and open something in Word, is that it's basically OpenOffice changed into something worse, seriously. It cannot even do basic features in some ways that Word 2003 did, and it's very unstable. Big no.

Both look very boring design wise, but LibreOffice looks like it was designed in the 90's. I wish OnlyOffice would be more original with their design instead of ripping off Microsoft, and that it looked more native on other platforms such as macOS. It literately looks like a Windows 10 app on macOS, and that's not a compliment. Btw I would love to see a comparison with iWork.
