Typhoon is a steel roller coaster in the Belgian amusement park Bobbejaanland in Lichtaart.
Typhoon was contracted by the Schoepen family towards the end of 2002 for approximately 7.5 million euros. The construction of the attraction took more than a year, carried out by the German Gerstlauer and was opened on April 10, 2004. The attraction was built to replace the Looping Star (1979), on an area of 75 by 29 meters and has a maximum height of almost 26 meters. After a minute and a half, Typhoon has completed its 670-meter trajectory. Typhoon's loop is in the same place as the iconic loop of the Looping Star and, as a visual nod, is also built with the same construction.
There are 8 cars, each of which can carry 8 passengers (2 rows of 4 people). The capacity of Typhoon is approximately 1400 visitors per hour.
Characteristic is the lift in which the car is pulled vertically upwards, followed by a first descent at an angle of 97°, which is slightly further than perpendicularly downwards. Typhoon has 4 inversions: a 19 meter high loop, a double Heartline Roll and a single Heartline Roll.
In 2019, Bobbejaanland introduced the new Land of Legends themed area, an area revolving around the four elements that Typhoon is also a part of, along with Sledge Hammer, the new rollercoaster Fury and also a new water playground Naiads Waters. Typhoon's queue was therefore given a new theme and a new starting point located in a central square in the new area, the carts were painted gray, as was the track itself, which was given an icy blue color. Typhoon represents the element of wind in Land of Legends.
