You can now add a variable on the fly. If you start typing '#' in the dimension box there is a line at the bottom of the drop down which says 'new'. Better planning avoids the 'glitch' you mention: i.e. the variable being available after it's created. Not a glitch at all if you think about it :-D

how do you add or subtract within the variable tool?

double click on variable value and add calculation, only follow value type rule, such as ===> #test + (1 in)

YSK the # is called hash symbol, hashtag is the whole thing though that's mostly twitter (and language changes)

Perhaps yes but variable type needs to be changed from dimensions parameters to count....but we can try it out
