The 407 reminds me of the Katy Expressway here in Houston. Starts out in the central part of the metro with a gazillion lanes, and the further west you drive, the lanes start dropping fairly quickly. Great video! You'll have to capture some more of the cityscape/skyline of the GTA in some future vids!
There's definitely a bit of a similarity there. I have some additional GTA videos coming this fall. It's my home city, so I always have a decent number of videos from the area. Thanks for the comment.
Bravo with you inviting one of my favorite concrete freeways - the 407 to the video! 407 is easily one of my favorite concrete freeways including the Sam Houston Tollway, I-610, I-10 and more! Sadly if the 407 wasn't so expensive with it making a stupid 3 billion in a hundred years, the 401 wouldn't be such a hellhole with literally more traffic than the Katy Freeway. But thank you for so much for showing me a beautiful modern Toronto video.
not only that, if the gta/golden horseshoe more focused on transit-orientated development and not highway widenings, the 401 wouldn't be so congested, as you could take the GO train/GO bus to whatever you please.
The 407 is probably the only expressway in the world with too many lanes as opposed to too little 😂 Unless things get a lot more busy during peak hour? Great video as always!!
The 407 is actually generally fairly busy. I have recorded some other footage more recently showing it far busier than it was on this day. Thanks much for the comment.
No toll booths? It's like the crossing in Dartford where you have to pay online within 24 hrs of crossing. They removed the toll booths 8 years ago due to traffic
It's all electronic, so either vehicles have a transponder with the 407, or the cameras on the highway record a vehicles license plate and then the owner is sent a bill in the mail following the trip.
I love the way you drove the 407/ETR and 407 Extension to enter the 412. The 412 is one of the 2 toll connectors of the 401 and 407 while the other is the 418. Those tolled freeways help improve traffic in the far future to ease traffic if the 401 is congested in the Oshawa area by taking the 407 Extension.
Hey, did you hear the news that the 412 and 418 have tolls removed since April 5? Now, the 407 is the only toll road Ontario has. Will you film those 2 again soon enough as an update?
Wow 8 lanes on the tollway but pretty vacant. It's probably in the very outskirts of the metro and a slow day for traffic. I imagine the toll might be a bit steep as well.
Awesome video with minimal traffic and a clear day. Interesting to see a private toll and province toll right up against each other. Does that mean you would get two separate bills in the mail as well? Happy to see the finished 418/401 interchange from the bottom level too. The girders were just being set last I drove through there.
Thanks, there were still some lingering covid restrictions when this was filmed, so traffic was pretty light. The ETR and the provincial toll road use the same billing process handled by the ETR. The charges are split up by highway on the bill. I get mine emailed to me instead of getting it sent through the mail. Both highways use the same transponder as well.
No all Highway 407 ETR on the western segment owned by concession company and Highway 407 East (eastern segment) owned by province of Ontario are tolled.
As has been written by others, the signs at the 7:00 mark just indicate the transition from the ETR to the province’s toll road. The ETR has slightly different tolling rates and policies than the provincial section, so it’s worth posting a sign to indicate the transition even if both sections of the 407 are still toll roads.
Impressive road system. Presumably the limit is 130 km/hr on these thinly trafficked toll roads? If the guide signs are to be standardized blue on these toll roads, shouldn't the collectors on 401 be changed over to green?
they should be posted at a higher limit, but they're only posted at 100. There are no plans to change the collector lane signage from blue to green. Thanks for the comment.
@@AsphaltPlanet1 Ah, cmon. At least all of us are watching your videos so we can be here for you always. Don't worry, you're getting there. All you have to do is show something really impressive that people haven't seen from your videos yet. Some of your viewers might be tired of you just mostly filming Canada. It's some cities that can possibly help you. Seattle, Milaukee, some Alabama cities, San Antonio, more Florida cities, Nashville, and pretty much cities that have impressive freeways. Once you get back to Houston or any other cities in Texas, take a trip to San Antonio. Three hours and a half from Houston just like Dallas, not that far. But yes, I know it's a lot of cities to film, but trust me always know to film different undiscovered cities at the right time. Some cities to Toronto or any cities in Canada can take more than a day to get there. Use that time to film some other cities if you feel like it in your free time.
@@trulylondon1 There are always going to be a higher percentage of videos from Canada and specifically Toronto on my channel because I am a Canadian from Toronto. Toronto videos are generally my most favourite to watch, and are generally some of the highest performing videos on my channel.
