Ontario MPP makes history speaking Indigenous language at Queen's Park 

In 1763 Canada became part of the British empire and English became the official language , that’s it . Nothing else matters.

Wow....This is just setting a precedence for future people /immigrants to want to speak in THEIR native language in the halls of our legislatures, etc. Mark my words. ALL the various translators, etc. that would be needed, could get VERY expensive. We are a country of TWO official languages - English and French - pick one.

And what is the purpose of this? Is it really to elevate and show care for 'indigenous' people (same with American Blacks, etc) ? Or it is just another smack in the face of White Europeans who founded these nations?

Society seems to have lost all common sense. Is this now a 3rd language for Canada. How many Inuit are in Canada by % of the population? We have PRIDE month, now imbedded into society, is this next. How much does all this cost? How about we focus on feeding the children, and start focusing on issues like funding our military, and making Canada prosperous again. If we keep our oil reserves unused, we can spend more $ buying Oil & Gas on the world market, from countries that are not Canadian like. Thank you Trudeau!

The amount of racism and ignorance in these comments is astounding - You all sure have a lot of learning to do! It's time we break down the archaic and colonial systems we've been conditioned to follow for centuries. The amount of energy you spend being a negative, hateful person, should be spent learning about Indigenous people and the rich language, culture, and ceremonies that they have had on this land long before colonial contact.

What indigenous language?, there are many. How is this helpful, no one speaks it.
