Wow! I was just watching a video of yours about Florida from 1 year ago. Then I decided to check out your channel! The coincidence is that the latest video was about Toronto to Florida! Is this your 5-6th time going now?
Such a beautiful moments when your kids burst into your new home with so much happiness! Thanks for sharing your journey with us 🥰 I’m road tripping to Daytona Beach Florida from Toronto this summer & I can’t wait 🥳
Here's a hack you might want to try - though I do like your mesh bag idea. get vaccuum seal bags that come with a hand pump. You can find the size or way to pack that works best for you (i.e. one bag per person or older kids items in one larger bag (where you don't have to access - until your arrival) vs. several smaller bags for each younger child). The space saving is incredible. Look at using them for diapers or bulky items. Additional benefit - is they are great protecting your items from spills, rain or soiling - if you stop anywhere or stay at a hotel - they are excellent protection from bed-bug or anything getting into your clothes or items. We travel from Toronto to WDW every year in the winter. This will be our 14th trip since my daughter was born (we go down every year for her birthday). What route do you/did you take this year? Do you prefer one over the other?
I love this hack! This would have been helpful in packing for our recent move, would have saved a lot of space over clothes in boxes. In terms of driving down, we've used every route (all three that come up on maps) and typically decide last minute unless there is a planned stop (eg. we sometimes stay in Atlanta for a few days). Probably we have most often did the 77/95 route through West Virginia, but watch out for if it's raining because it can be fierce. Which route do you prefer? You've done it more times than us!
Hi thoroughly enjoyed watching you and your family. My 19 year old (he also drives) and I are planning to drive to Florida for a short vacation maybe about 9-10 days. This is really encouraging. Btw.... your kids are so well mannered.
Haha well they have some moments (as do my husband and I!). But yes, they are well behaved kids and they are accustomed to what to expect for a long haul trip. With experience everything get's easier, right? Happy vacation! Where in Florida are you going?
Oh man, so many options I don't know where to begin! We actually love to stop at minor league baseball parks when the timing lines up. They are an affordable place to have fun, stretch out the kids and get some food. Among cities, our most frequent stop is Atlanta, which has a great aquarium and other local fun stuff. I would invest in a guide book like this one and just go for it! www.amazon.ca/Along-Interstate-75-19th-Guide-Florida/dp/1896819192/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?keywords=stops+on+i75&qid=1565699320&s=gateway&sr=8-1-fkmr0
Great video, we are about to do the drive next month with 2 small little ones. Any really good spots you recommend to stop for kids On the way there or on the way back? Spots for a night or so.
We liked stopping in Atlanta for a couple of nights. There are fun things there like the Georgia Aquarium and the Coca Cola World, another kids museum nearby, the natural history museum etc. I would also recommend grabbing a book like this one so you can find interesting spots to eat or see along the way www.amazon.com/Next-Exit-2021-Complete-Interstate/dp/0984692193/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2Z5RUNSN1R7R7&keywords=great+stops+along+i95&qid=1643481976&sprefix=great+stops+along+i95%2Caps%2C75&sr=8-1
We have 3 young kids and are thinking about driving to Florida from Hamilton ON (budget being a big reason). I've watched your videos and I'm wondering if you'd recommend driving straight or getting a hotel. We'll only be in Florida for a week, so we don't want to waste our precious vacation time.. but this will also be our first road trip!
So great! It is a tough call because there are different philosophies and different thresholds for how far you or your spouse can last behind the wheel. My husband says the most ground is made while the kids are sleeping- no bathroom breaks etc. So he prefers to drive straight through the night, especially for a short vacation (for longer trips we might stop and do some sightseeing in Atlanta for a few days). And there is also a lot of energy involved in getting little kids into the hotel and back into the car. But the tradeoff for a night of lost sleep is real! It takes him a couple of days to bounce back, so hes napping during the day. You may want to do what our friends do- drive with a plan that you may have to stop somewhere and rest for the night, and see how it goes!
@@ThePossibilityMom thank you so much for the insight!! I'm typically a type A person and I'm throwing that out the window with this trip - just going with the flow!
Husband here, we do like Naples and go there a lot for groceries, restaurants, etc. It does have a lot of retirees and seasonal residents, so the culture changes a bit, and there is a high percentage of millionaries. Because of this, I find that you do encounter rudeness at times, but it is a decent town. Fort Myers is also fun for a smaller city getaway. In terms of interesting communities, we don't know all that many but a really quaint and unique one is Ave Maria, a young town 35 minutes from Naples built around a Catholic university founded by the Domino's Pizza founder. Might be worth the visit to check it out!
We love Florida year round, but the heat can be intense in July and August, and that is also hurricane season. Spring break and Christmas are more busy. But Christmas in Florida is pretty special!
