Hear Chris Poh, Onyx COO and Buyer, share the ALMA origin story, and how this blend benefits communities in Guatemala through Habitat for Humanity's work!
We created Alma from our deep roots at origin in Guatemala, and with the singular purpose of elevating people in coffee.
ALMA is the Spanish word for Soul, and this blend represents the heart of our work-- our belief that coffee can be a force for good, elevating people in coffee and uplifting lives in our homeland. The need is great: the housing deficit in Guatemala exceeds 2.2 million homes and many still lack access to basic sanitation and safe cooking facilities. That’s why we partner with Habitat For Humanity Guatemala. For every pound of ALMA sold, $0.05 is donated to make a positive difference, particularly in rural coffee growing regions. With over $30k donated, we’ve most recently rolled up our sleeves and worked alongside roaster partners to build healthier smokeless stoves in needful communities.
La Alma means the Soul, and we hope this blend will be the vitality and warmth of your coffee program.
