Onyx CTY2 60v 23Ah E-bike - Cruising Around Town 

I like it much better than the x52. The suspension is not as good but I swapped in a pair of egoboost shocks which made it a little softer. Front fork travel is limited and no preload adjustment but it does fine on the streets. I’ve turned down the accel time to 2 in the Kelly controller which gives it a lot more pull and responsiveness when you need it. I definitely want to add a bigger battery so I can really turn up the power 😀. Stock is only tapping 25% of the potential!

I’m not as happy with the cyt2 I had it 4 2 months now.. I paid near 4k for it .. the range is horrible 12 miles up n back n I’m like 40% left! The bike is ok 4 work commute when it can charge in between travels but outside of fast commutes n work it’s overpriced imo at least what I paid .. it’s cheaper rn tho. But for 4k I shouldn’t have to upgrade anything.. the suspension is bad front n rear , the throttle sucks , the turn signal also sucks, ur don’t come with mirrors,or rack , the rack is small and basically useless, the tires aren’t good too, the seat is about the only premium thing on the bike. Imo the cost shouldn’t be more than 2500-3000k it’s best just to save up a lil more if so n get a better e bike 6-7k range.. there are a lot of good bikes in this range

@@obeii1805 Yeah with their $4,000 price felt a bit steep for me. Me pulling the trigger on it for $3,000 feels like an okay deal to me. Have you thought about upgrading the battery? It’s compatible with the stock controller. I agree with you about it should having those accessories and better suspension. Not a lot of 60v e-bikes around $3,000 except the RoadRunner Pro but I don’t do 1st Gen.

@@obeii1805 I do have a lot more knowledge now than I did a month ago. The Wired Freedom and not released Lyric Cycle Graffiti X are 60v e-bikes I would consider.

@@wilfredpapaya4739 I had the lyric ghost on preorder since march, they been lying about releasing date .. saying due dates on the bike for newer buyers when ppl like I didn’t get ours yet.. they keep giving emails of excuses.. now they say q4 on the site for new orders. … therefore I wouldn’t get the x until there is videos of ppl having them first . Oh let’s me not forget they also try to encourage us to get the graffiti in exchange too.. like if I wanted the graffiti I would had ordered it. another preorder told me to get a refund b4 they go bankrupt doing a 180 view shift.. after he found out that lyric hadn’t even begun to build the bikes!!.. he said quotation! They hadn’t even build the frames .. and lyric offered us a refund a few weeks back , I didn’t get it smh I’m hoping they get it together cus I want the bike , I hadn’t see anything else better yet

@@wilfredpapaya4739 it’s ok but I feel onyx could had done better .. ppl out here are making solid homemade bikes that are going faster for less of the cost . Ppl are building batteries n going 60 mph plus..etc .. it’s sad that someone has a less expensive bike but ca/ go faster than me ! I see it all the time on RU-vid…cus tbh it’s cheap to make e bikes that’s why it’s so many cheap options .. 1000w especially. But they could had gave us more quality for the price , a better battery etc for the price one can get a solid motorcycle even a Honda grom is better and it cost the same as the cty2

Quality of both bikes is great but the CTY2 is a step up above the X52. The X52 has a softer ride but lower top speed. My area has some pretty big hills and with the X52 you could really feel the motor bog down even with pedaling. After a few rides on the x52 I wanted more power. The CTY2 is not as off-road capable but I would mainly be riding on roads so it wasn’t a big deal. The CTY2 can power up even the steepest hills at 30mph and tops out around 50mph. The X52 could only get up to 36ish. The CTY2 has more torque and options of tweaking the controller and bms if you wanted to increase performance. Another big difference is the CTY2 is much quieter because of the tires and also the CTY2 motor does not have internal gears so no gear noise in the hub like the x52. If you don’t need top speed and intend to go off-road, then X52. Otherwise, CTY2.

Yeah I've only charged up 5x so far. In the manual it says when the charger light turns green, the battery is at 97%. If you want to fully charge and balance, you need to leave on longer (95min) to fully charge to 100%. You can use the Onyx BMS app or the XiaoxiangBMS app to monitor while it's charging and see when the cells are at 4.2v. You can also see when the charger stops suppling current with these apps too. You don't need to do 100% all the time though.

The battery meter will still show one missing bar even when the battery is 100% charged. Look at your voltage reading instead of that bar meter to gauge how much battery life you have.

@@Jeffrigerator so do you know why the voltage saying 70.9 on the display but when I go to the battery app for onyx it's saying 71.3.

@@randyreynosoll3444 The bike draws a small amount of power when turned on. Look on page 39 of the CTY2 owners manual. "The Onyx CTY2 draws 0.6 volts while it is turned on."

I have gotten over 30mi to a charge with still 60v left. If you’re driving around going hard on the throttle, you’ll only get about 20mi. If you take it easy in the throttle you’ll go a lot further. I can still go 40mph at half battery but it’s going to run the battery down. I’ve learned it’s more about throttle finesse/control. Going full power is not as good as easing into it.

@@NoFlyDrone my current bike is like an ariel rider D class with the higher handle bars....the cty2 looks like the handle bars are barely above the seat. Unfortunately I can't test ride the cty but I'm hesitant to buy it cause I'm not sure if I will like crouching forward feeling like a sport bike. Are you noticing a big difference with the bars down that low or are you just used to it?

@@BONGE33 I had an X52 for about a month prior to this and it had similar style handlebars. I guess I’m used to it.

I got the cty2 and yes the bars are low but the hey sell a 2 inch riser and they were easy to install and gave me enough rise that my back now thanks me.

@@NoFlyDrone we do not believe there will be a v3 that produces that battery but it is possible there will sometime down the road be a 33Ah option. We had other clients suggest this to us but there is nothing definitive. Great work with the mods and video
