The Oostvoornse Meer (lake) was a section of the route connecting the North Sea with Rotterdam prior to its closure. Ships encountered difficulties and sank in this location during bad weather. In this region, numerous ships have sunk. Several historic shipwrecks from the 17th century were discovered when a lake was created and sand was dredged. The second wreckage we saw was the "loodwrak". "The "loodwrak" was used in the transportation of lead. Unfortunately the lead is stolen by divers, no more lead remains on the wreck. The first wreck we visited was the touwwrak, which was probably a whale-hunting vessel.
