The Insignia 1.5 Diesel isn't that slow in the grand scheme of things. It managed an indicated 134 mph (likely a true 126 mph) on the autobahn with only 120 bhp. That's reasonably impressive. You can also remap these to 150 bhp and 252 lb ft so I suspect 0-60 mph would be in the late 8's and top speed would likely increase to 135 mph or thereabouts. As a family car, that's more than sufficient.
@@Jimbo8012it's not the top speed that's problem but getting it there lol. And you are not going to enter late 8's in 0-60 with 150hp because 174hp one does it in 8.9s but high 9s would still be much better than 11.6s stated by Opel
I'm undecided between this car and the 1.5 diesel Peugeot 508, which one would you recommend? I'm curious about your answer or are there any other D segment vehicles you would recommend?
Not bad for 120hp. Not everyone needs a 200hp car. I will get a more powerful one, but for cruising at normal speeds this engines achieves a very good fuel consumption.
I'll be honest guys, I don't think it's too bad. Is it fast? Absolutely not and would I prefer more power? Of course, but I live in Ireland, we have no unlimited autobahns, maximum we can legally do is 120 Kmh. It's more than acceptable but that's just my own opinion
Tobe honest it’s better then from someone that has been using it daily short distance. Rental cars have a very high maintenance standard and in many countries have tobe check by authorities more often.
Today we tested our Volvo v60 and we did the mountains with it and frankly I find that even at 76kmh and in a fairly steep curve that the road sticks really well we can have fun too But frankly it can be super well stuck
I drive a 2007 Mondeo mk4 1.8tdci with very similar stats and yeah those 3 cylinders in this Insignia are very underwhelming xP I hope I can get my hands on a 2.5T mk4 cuzz I just love those Volvo 5i engines, they are nuts :-D
Not bad (Still quite slow) for a station wagon which has "only" 122hp Opel may not always have made great interiors but great engines do it all the time!
This engine is a total crap, as well as the new one 2.0d (problems with oil pressure). Also the new insignia is now PSA, you cant even change brake pads without connection to dealer's software
I had this Opel with the 1.5engine as a rent car for few days, sometimes it was scary to overtook a truck… who need engines like this ?! Maybe as a manual, ok but not as an automatic ! Useless engine …. 🤦🏼♂️
