@Andrew Wilson Our road rally car was a Manta powered Kadette coupe. Everyday shopping car a Manta 2.0. Replaced by a Chevette HSR at the time. Didn't have the cash to buy a Manta 400. I do now but don't need one anymore.

@Andrew Wilson This might interest you. My Kadette C Coupe rally car I built from a fire damaged Manta A (the narrow axle is the same as factory Kadette GT/E) 1.9 L but very light around 750 kg. & Chevette HS springs and dampers. My everyday Manta was a 2.0 SR Berlinetta. It was no match for my mate's Sierra XR4i on the straights as you would expect but he could not stay with me on the twisties (perhaps road rally springs & dampers was cheating ?) Devon country roads LOL. The HSR was a different animal, with 180 bhp @ 7000 rpm on DCOE webers & electronic ignition I could see the fuel gauge dropping as the revs soared. Enormous fun but a big appetite for fuel & rear tyres.

Argee. A few weeks ago a '79 Ascona 400 replica, with a "little work" was sold over here for €15.000,=. Not even a 2.4 16v. But a 2.0 16v injection. An Opel Ascona or Manta 400 on licenceplates go over 75.000 euro's, I guess......

мощность Opel At that time all Opel CIH Six engines still had 2 valves per cylinder so no, it didn't derive from a 3.0 litre. As far as I remember the 24E unit which powered both the Ascona 400 and Manta 400 was developed in a sort of cooperation with Cosworth who helped developing the 16v head.

RickZanardi right the engine was build by cosworth. Now they build some kind of 6 to 4 cilinders transformation with a 16v head on it. If I am right C- kadett drivers like Koch and Wolves are using that kind of engines.
