Thanks Neil! I wanted to do something else than spray shit inside and hope for the best. I feel like taking these shortcuts would make the whole project look bad and the work we already did. :) Great to have you still following the project!
hi there, I would recommend to use a waterbased solution for derusting the metal parts, you get them as a liquid or as a gel, there a lot of suppliers out there, e. g. Dinitrol (zero rust), all these acid-based rust removers are critical use, they are not eco-friendly and the smell is bad, they can cause hydrogen embrittlement and if you don´t remove it completely and accurately the metal will rust very soon and super fast, respect for saving the Manta, I would not have done it because the Manta went to far......
Hi - thanks for the tip! I believe Wurth is water based but I am not so sure but I agree that puting on acid is not the end stage but rather one o the steps that need to then be properly handeled. Normaly I used phosphoric acid based removers just for the first stage- then wirebrushed and neutrolized and proceded with tannic acid based that converts it, but I think solutions are water based both on wurth and NCH. But as you have mentioned it - putting acid on and leaving it in the dust will rust it further - I ve seen it with a part that I forgot to paint - I had to redo everything. Thanks for the kind words! :)
