I'm genuinely surprised game freak has never attempted something akin to what they did here in Black & White with subsequent games. The fact that this location is visually different between the two versions right down to the music is such creative genius.

It’s always like that with gamefreak. They have gimmicks every generation and then never use them again. In Gen 4 it was day/night tracks, in Gen 5 it was season variation, rotation battles, and city changes between games, in 6 it was Mega evolution, in 7 it was those special moves, in 8 the gimmick was getting really big. They use it once and then never again, which sucks because a lot of the (earlier) ideas are very good.

@@chill-lady-brook actually correct me if I'm wrong but they did bring back the day and night tracks to some extent in generation 7. Also triple & rotation battles were in gen 6.

@@mbcmechachu The day/night tracks aren't an exclusive to gen 4 gimmick, true, but the point is that most gimmicks aren't gonna be recurring across most generations

White having this serene olden feel with black having this upbeat futuristic. Opelucid city is just bursting with life in both, but the nostolgic feeling from white's too great.
