I just got the Focal Elex for $325 open box. Even though I am a huge Beyer fan, have 3 pairs, I do not yet own the DT1990, but plan to once I can afford them (gain wife approval). The Elex made its way to my current top set, beating out my HiFiman Edition XS. My current fav Beyers are the 900 Pro X, but not in the same league of the Elex, but still a very good headphone. What I like about all Beyers, is the combination of build and sound, a very complete headphone no matter which model.
But that's no knock on Focal because Focal makes almost all their models in France. They are just as solidly built as Beyers. Bathys I believe being the exception
@@aznsensation44 I know people in forums are complaining about Focal QC issues, which is contributing to low resale on used market. I am thinking of getting the Focal Elegia’s next, they can be had under $200 used. I typically do not like closed backs, but sometimes they come in handy. I think all Beyers are made in Germany, and very easy to get parts for too. Beyers are built studio tough, Focal built to feel premium, but may not take a beating like a Beyers in professional use. My take anyways…
