LOVE IT! I don't care what "designers" are saying. Open concept is THE BEST!
@donggiangvo9284
@donggiangvo9284 3 дня назад
Why is it considered the best? The only advantages of an open concept are that it appears spacious and allows for visibility within the household. However, it is important to consider the following drawbacks: Cooking frequently can result in unpleasant odours permeating the entire house, encouraging individuals to dine on the couch while watching television. Cooking noises, such as the vent, can be disruptive to those watching television in the living room. If you are entertaining guests in the living room and wish to prepare something for them, they may be inconvenienced by the cooking process. Additionally, you may not want them to witness the disarray in the kitchen. Lastly, maintaining a consistent temperature throughout an open-concept space can strain the air conditioning or heating system, potentially leading to higher electricity bills.

Love it! It’s great being able to cook dinner and still be able to interact with the family in the living room. I hate having a separated kitchen because then everyone wants to come in the kitchen to talk and then they just end up in my way

As someone who looovesss to cook, leave it. I dont want my entire house to smell like the food im cooking. I do also agree than when the kitchen is isolated, entertaining is a bit taxing.

Leave it! We actually just put up a wall between our living and dining area and I LOVE how it feels more traditional with the division of the spaces. Also, I feel like my house is even bigger and I love that you can’t see my “entire” home when you walk thru the front door. The wall will help immensely with noise since we have four kiddos, and as many have commented maybe the cooking smells won’t be overwhelming in the living room. There is an air of mystery now 😅what’s behind the wall! ❤

Not a huge fan of open concept to be honest. My house currently is open concept and the lack of separation between the kitchen and the living room makes it feel like “oh let’s just eat on the couch” It looks nice because it feels bigger, but I’d prefer a layout that has defined areas to the home

When buying a home i was looking for an open concept house. When in the kitchen cooking, I can still interact with everyone with out a wall in the wall. I also find it easier to decorate and design because I can make sure everything as a nice easy flow of colors that transition in each space.

For me this concept is so nice, i'm living alone and i don't watch TV. I already got more than enough informations i need only from my phone. When i have a free time i prefer to hike at mountain with my dog and friends or playing with my dog or gather and chat with my friends or take care of my garden - watching a big screen never been on my list. This probably because on my teenage age i had more than enough wasting my time sitting in front of a screen which displayed many strangers - with the fact their existence never been important for me, just as my existence for them.

Looks fantastic, but impractical for a number of reasons: 1. Not safe if you have babies/toddlers. 2. As your kids grow up and become teenagers you’ll miss not having the privacy of separate areas in your home to relax in. 3. If you intend to do any sort of ‘real’ cooking then the smell will linger and get into all of your furniture. 4. Noise from appliances not ideal when you’re trying relax and have ‘movie night’! 5. Not ideal for when you may have impromptu guests and you can’t ‘shove’ them into a tidy space whilst you just close the door on the mess in the kitchen!

We have an open concept and it is very safe for our children. We have 2 teenagers and don't have any issue with privacy We cook Nigerian and American food everyday and I've never had smells linger and get into my furniture. I make sure that my home always smells amazing When we have a movie night, all we hear is the movie playing. No one has ever complained about hearing the noise from appliances. Not even our 9yr old who's on the spectrum We keep our home clean. No need to hide a mess from anyone because there isn't any mess. Why hide a mess when you can just clean it up. I guess it depends on the family.

Leave it. The open concept has a single advantage and a ridiculous number of drawbacks. Example, you get yelled at for running the fan while cooking because someone else can’t hear the TV anymore. When you fry anything or cook pungent stuff like fish, your couch ends up smelly. It’s also a terrible use of space. And of course you can’t have a proper family meal because folk are all over the TV. And if your kitchen is a mess, no one can enter your home until you have cleaned it up. I can’t believe people are still all about creating an interior for others to be impressed by and not for themselves to live in. 🤦‍♀️

Don't forget the energy, health and ecological cost. Open plan requires more heating. Cooking, especially on gas, causes more finedust and toxic elements in the house. Not even speaking about grease sticking to all over your furniture or having to clean the floor more.

Leave lt. Tired of open concept. Its a rip off. People who actually cook all the time rather have the "open space" utilized for better kitchen and pantry space. Its better to separate cuz when you're cooking you will be focused on that. Even restaurants have thier kitchen separated cuz they want the guest to focus on the seating area and ambience not watching what's happening in the kitchen.

I don't like it because it's overdone. Not everyone likes the same style but it's forced now. There's no privacy, no relief from the sounds of others, and I hate looking at kitchen appliances when trying to relax in the living room. Probably great for families with kids who don't want to take their eye off them, or people who do a lot of entertaining. One size doesn't fit all - I wish there were more variety, just not all open concept. I don't even cook, so I don't need a massive kitchen that's more suitable for a professional chef.
