Today I will be doing an open cup pour on a 10x20 canvas. I will be using all metallic paints for some real cool effects :)

The paints I am using are:
FolkArt metallic champagne, metallic aquamarine, Antique copper, sahara gold and bronze,
DecoArt Americana Decor metallics antique bronze and
DecoArt worn penny.
All my paints are mixed with Liquitex pouring medium, floetrol and a touch of water.
1 drop of 3in1 silicone was added to each cup, except the champagne color.

Have you ever done these metallic colors in a straight pour? If so how did you layer? Also, if you did do these in a straight pour, I'd love it if you would share. I LOVE YOUR ART.

Just ran across your video, and I have been contemplating doing an open cup pour. Have fallen for the metallic colors, and have promised to make a large pour for daughter-in law. Think I will go for this technique. She chose gray, black, teal and white. Worried as to how to combine, (as in how much of each color), these colors and thinking of adding gold for more contrast. Worried the gray may muddy things up. Suggestions? Love your results.

Thank you. You may not even need to add the gray if you are using black and white. Maybe silver or platinum instead. I think it would look better with the other colors you have chosen. Also, If you want more contrast use a darker teal or turquoise. I hope this helps. Good Luck!

Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I just saw you comment. The painting dried nice. The paint spread out a bit more. I ended up embellishing it with gears to make it look steam punkish. I gave to my husband for his office. He loves it.

🤯 Mind BLOWN! I’ve been racking my brain for days trying to come up with the best way to create an opal/oyster shell like effect in one of my pieces & with this video, you’ve provided the “A-HA” moment I’ve been waiting for!! I absolutelylove this piece and so appreciate your efforts to share with us🙏🏻 PS....when using metallics in a pour, do u keep your paints thicker than you would with non-metallics colors? I’ve noticed others doing that but couldn’t tell from the video if you did the same.

Thank you! I usually buy it at Hobby Lobby, Michael's or Joanns. But, sometimes I order it online from Plaid. I usually have to order certain colors. Pearl white and champagne are ones I order.
