I've never seen the rear of the tarp done that way. That's very clever. Thanks very much for the tip. I agree with others. This is a very clearly made video. I found this just in time. Received my new 10x10 tarp two days ago.

Great video. 😎 in more than just looks with the air flow: I hate a stuffeee. feeling. Could add a fan or a small DIY swamp cooler. Thing about forced air it will help in keeping the mosquitoes at bay. Another thing if you are camping mostly in RV parks and stealth is not a issue so buy a reflective tarp to help with the sun radiant heat.

This is an excellent video. You made it easy to follow and understand how to do this tarp set-up. I've watched other videos doing the same open design but they made it seem much more complicated then it needed to be. Now that I've watched your video, I know I could easily do this configuration for my camp set-up.

Excellent video! When, even I, can understand and follow the instructions, it usually means you're some kind of gifted teacher! As a newbie to tarp-tents, everyone in my neighborhood is going to think that I finally went off the deep end, when they see me throwing up a bunch of different tarp shelters...especially being right in the middle of the city lol! I've seen this set up demonstrated before but you presentation is easy to understand and the first time I've seen the rear vent modification. One thing about tarps that I like is they can be modified in so many ways to fit campsites, or weather conditions, or privacy needs.

Great job on this tarp shelter. I've found that there are so many more options with a tarp than with a tent. You can even make a fully enclosed tarp tent with a floor out of a single tarp. You can also just use the tarp for shade... I really enjoyed your out takes there at the end also. Thanks for posting.

OPTIONS for this design- For an unobstructed open interior, join two trek poles (or branches) in an A-frame configuration across the entrance and stake straight out from the entrance. "Simon, a bloke in the woods" has a video showing how to do it, as well as, showing how to make an optional door for this configuration in that same video. Video is, "Make it! Tarp tent door panel". BTW-Love your channel, great stuff.

I made this tent before while out in the field in FMTB. Everyone else slept on the wet cold ground in the rain and I had this bad boy propped up with enough room for myself on one half and my gear and rifle. next to me. I offered to move my gear out to have space for another buddy but they refused. I woke up happy the next day I wasn’t soaked or my clothes lol.

I was trying this with a 4.5 x 3 metre DD Tarp. The longer the sheet out from the centre pole, the greater the sag- so keep it small. Everyone calls it 'The tarp tent' , if you look at it from the top it looks like 'The millennium falcon'!! ..... but I guess someone's got copyright on that 😎🤣👍. Good video👏👏👏

the better approach for airflow is to just peg out the corners to begin with ..this way you can raise your shelter higher , plus as a bonus you have quite a bit more space in there. I tried this plenty of times and in my experience ,... pegging out the corners is the better option, unless you want to spend your time in condensation hell ! Combine it with a (hooped) bivy and you're good to go (or you can lower the rear of the shelter into a semi-star if the wind changes/ don't want to use a bivy ) Want even more space and airlow ? ...use carabiners or paracord on the loops and peg those out ;)

I have this exact tarp...I was considering purchasing a Eureka solo tent to add to my inch bag....After seeing this, I won't be needing that tent.This is by far the best tarp setup I've seen....Thx survival theory, u just saved me $ and 5 lbs of weight

I'd like to try that, but making the foot of the 'tent' identical to the door, to give more clearance above the feet of sleeping bodies. This would also increase the general pitch, and I suppose might help make the 'tent' more water-resistant. Just guessing; I've never tried it.

This is my favorite tarp set up. To make it bug proof, or at least skeeters, get a bug net or just bug net material, some binder clips and take the netting and spread it around the opening with the net on the inside and clip the net to the tarp (top and one side from the outside and the other side from the inside once you are in) with the binder clips (I use about 8 and they weigh very little. If you have extra netting place it around the bottom of the tarp on the inside. You can use ground fod or pine needles around the bottom on the outside as well or in place of the netting around the bottom. When outside the tent I just clip it closed from the outside. Works great.
