My wife helped me pick mine, prefering the resonance of the metal, as opposed to the wooden body. After weeks of me clumsily pluncking and sliding away she is still a fan.
Ha, I just about sold my honey dipper this morning, but buddy at the store started playing it and I decided I couldn’t sell it and need to learn slide. And this is the first video I’m watching getting home
The journey begins for me. Time to humble myself and try slide and open tunings. This will be the first thing I learn to play. Anyone sub’d to their online classes and have feedback? Is there really great pieces like this in open tunings?

Hey Jim, I have that same guitar and slide. It's one of the Brass Balltip Guitar Slides made by The Rock Slide company, likely either the Aged version or the Ariel Posen Signature Slide. Judging by how short it is, most likely the Aged version.
I haven't solved my slide issue. My pinky gets stuck and I sweat...and another size on my ring finger won't fit...🙄🥴... I might have to adjust...lol Thanks John for the blues adventure 🎶🎶🎶
@Nicole N…. Consider a slide called Rock Slide Swamp…. You can find it on Amazon. It has a cutaway where your finger meets your hand, and makes the positioning of the slide far more natural.
Bit of a random question, but does anyone know what tuning Clapton plays the Dobro solo in a song by Roger Waters called :" running shoes". It's about two mins in and for some reason its throwing me off as i can hear chords being occassionaly picked out that dont fit the open tunings ive tried ( im only 3 days in to slide and thought it'd be an easy start as i know the album so well... turns out,for me, it isnt.

I have this exact Honey Dipper and I can’t keep my hands off it. I’m still in semi beginner mode but your lessons have really helped a lot. This one is a great challenge and I’m loving it. QUESTION! I do ring finger slide but I wouldn’t mind switching to the pinky. However my slide is too big. What are you using? It looks perfect. Thanks again sir.

If you use your fingers behind the slide to do some of the dampening that will help. Thats what he's doing. That capo isn't doing anything to dampen. You could also use a hair net but fingers, palm , and lots of practice and you'll have it down!
@@BluesGuitarInstitute messed up way to sell your wares, showing the first 10 bars and only giving the last 2 bars to those who can afford them. Wouldn't be a problem if there was something to that fact at the BEGINNING rather than making it a surprise for the very end. I'm just saying, don't get me wrong I do appreciate what you did provide, just wish I knew those last 2 bars were the prize inside your box of CrackerJacks. Hell, I still have your first hundred and something free lessons saved and find myself referring back to them often, and I can understand why you went to a paid system. I do truly appreciate any crumbs you might still put out there, but waiting to reveal to those who are still at the table hungry that the last slices of pie were not being offered freely, still would have followed along and wrote down the tabs from the screen, but still feel that waiting was wrong. I've spoken my mind here and I'm sure there are going to be many who flame me for such a complaint, screw you as I rarely bother reading replies from anyone other than the party being addressed. Plus this was not a complaint, just one person's opinion, and now I know what to expect and keep my enthusiasm at check.
Hey DeWayne, thanks for taking the time to reply. Didn't withhold them as a prize at all, at least not intentionally. I didn't cover them specifically because they are virtually a repeat of what I already covered except the last two beats which I mentioned in the video. Tab downloads have been available for premium members after #100 for years now. Anyway the last two beats are just the IV chord at the 5th fret for a beat then up to the 7th fret for the final beat. Hope that helps.

I know you offer the tabs to premium members, it was sad when I watched that last free lesson years back but you had already put more out there than any 10 of the others so if anyone should make money for online lessons it is definitely you, you have a gift for explaining what's going on in a lesson. Had I known up front that it was a partial tab, I would have been okay with that and appreciative of what was there. Making it a surprise at the end, well you know the observation I had there. I have a habit of speaking rather bluntly (never tell VA docs that you're all alone in the world unless you want a phone call from mental health.) I guess I taught mathematics too long, lol. Another instructor that posts free lessons once did a RU-vid lesson that he started off by making that initial commercial himself. Didn't change the quality of that lesson but it did come off somewhat as an infomercial (can't recall the product, pretty sure it was a musical themed accessory.) I tried to convey that observation to him and boy did the haters come out of the woodwork. I still enjoy your lessons, would be a premium member if not for being disabled and on a very limited income, but that's on me, I choose to buy new guitar strings, lol. PEACE Y'all

Dude. Slow down and teach. We know you can play it. Keep the tabs up please. There is no reason to take them down. Show the techniques you are using. The best videos are shown at speed and broken down to quarter speed. Very difficult to see what your fingers are doing from the distance of the camera.
