I love the idea of an open plan!
And being a Bombay girl, I can relate to the challenges in creating a solid open layout in compact city apartments.
So here's a video where I take you through the design process of creating a fully functional open plan.
I've used a 3D model to illustrate one such example of a sample flat. This is not an actual project.
**Disclaimer**: Creating an open plan may require you to knock down certain walls. Always, consult a structural engineer and/or obtain permission from the society or the local authority before you decide to knock down any wall no matter how small.
In this video, the existing walls around the old enclosed kitchen which were knocked down were not load-bearing walls. Moreover, they were drywall partitions. So, it was okay to do so.
