One nice thing about the new version is its version number is now in sync with MacOS 14.5. Whether it stays in sync with future MacOS updates remains to be seen.
@@JessiesFlying I did see notification of a new release coming about two weeks ago. Another nice thing I noticed is what you mentioned about checks being run - the root patcher didn’t update my current 13.6.7 OS due to a system version mismatch it detected. No need for 14.5 root patches when you’re running 13.6.7. Very good!
Thanks for your update. Very well explained.Although there is no real need I updated on my IMac 27’ end 2015 flawlessly but on my MBP mid 2015 I always get after restarting my MacBook the error message „ you switched off your computer because of a problem“ restart doesn’t erase this error message. Even not with new installation of patches. The only thing I did was to disable the boot picker option. I think 1.4.5 was failing to work on some mid year older 2010 and 2011 Macs . I can't be sure about this because I suspect my ssd was also problematic before I swapped it . what I did notice however was the new 1.5.0 did act a little different while creating the usb installer. In any event , it worked successfully in creating one for my 2011 pro .
The guys are doing an exceptional job with Open Core. It’s maturing very very well. Is there any possible way to overcome this limitation?

Hi! I used the 1.50 patcher on my 2012 macbook pro and was able to install OS Sonoma. It was running great for over 2 months. Then unexpectedly my mac got updated and now it is messed up. As mentioned I'm a voiceover user and due to open cord not having sound drivers is currently stopping me from actually updating my Mac unofficially though anyone, definitely would take advice here. Unfortunately sound is necessary, even if I had braille support from voice over that would work.
No I haven't actually put it there whatsoever. And I actually wasn't sure where to ask this as far as discord where would you suggest on discord I put this question mark sound ignorant the sound drivers seriously would go a long way to help someone who is visually impaired Hymie and others but aren't able to follow the instructions shown here because the bootloader doesn't support voice over.
Map of pro mid 2014 the sound works when Big surders loaded, the sound works if I'm using the default bootloader that comes preloaded with the Mac. But open core, unfortunately it isn't. So can't use voice over even if I press command at 5 to launcher voice over.

Good video. a question. I would like to upgrade my 21 inch iMac late 2013 (I currently have bigsur installed via patcherSur) and clean install to Sonoma. Do you recommend using OCLP 1.5.0 or 1.4.3? A thousand thanks
Is it better to choose OS Ventura at the moment or jump straight to Sonoma ? Supposing that the OS should work as flawless as possible on older Macs. Is it also still required with OCLP 1.5.0. to do full installations for all increments of OS Sonoma?
Hey Jessie! I was wondering if you could help me out. I just installed monterey on a clean SSD using OCLP 1.5.0 and everything went well except for my bluetooth, After I performed the post install root paches the wifi started working (I had to manually set it to connect to my network but it works fine) but the bluetooth is off and cannot be turned on. Someone on the OCLP discord told me to perform a PRAM reset but it didn't work, they also told me to revert the root patches, reboot and re install, so I did but it didn't fix the problem. Do you have any suggestions for me? all the best!
Hi, maybe try an older version of OCLP as you’re running Monterey and not Sonoma… uninstall root patch, install older OpenCore, reboot and then install older root patch
When you build a Hackintosh, do you have to buy and install Windows first, or can you somehow change settings and get MacOS directly via open core? But if the computer has no working OS I guess it’s impossible. In that case I need to buy Windows for rather much money and not use it if I manage to install MacOS in the computer.

Well, after about 10 attempts at this process, I am not improcessed. As I executed the installation processes to the letter according to RU-vid videos, I experienced confusing pop-up windows that I had not see addressed in videos. Just frustrated and worn out from attempting to upgrade my 2012 MBP. Not worth the effort by some of us in the Apple world.
I have a Mac Pro 5,1 with Dual CPU (Xeon x5680) and an AMD VEGA56. I installed macOS Sonoma, and the installer and upgrade process ran smoothly. After the installation, I installed the KDK (Kernel Debug Kit) and the Opencore Pre and Root Patches. After rebooting, it started up normally, but after rebooting again, it loads up to 1/3 of the progress bar and then the screen goes black (monitor shows "No Signal"). I can't understand why it works initially and then doesn't. Please help, I need to get this working by tomorrow.
because the display drivers are not loading correctly during the boot. When you did the root patch, are you sure that finished without errors? Because when I did root patch I saw many permissions errors with the 3rd part extensions, and I had to move all the extensions away from the Extensions folder, until the root patch concluded all applies correctly.
Hi, What I find confusing is that when I click on the OCLP version currently installed in my applications folder (0.6.7), a message tells me that I can now update OCLP to 1.5. If I do this, I understand that it will ask me if I want to update the patches. This sounds great because I am still running OS X Monterey 12.6.5. If I do this, will OCLP have to reboot my system? My fear is that if I do this there is a risk the OCLP update (including the patches) will fail to boot the system. If this happens, I will not have a backup means of re-installing the system. Would it not be a better to create a new installer on a different disk and try that out first? So how can I install OCLP 1.5 on my Mac without updating the version already installed in the applications folder - can I download and use OCLP on the desktop even though OCLP 0.6.7 is already installed?
You could install OpenCore to a USB drive and boot from there. But the root patches are always installed into macOS, so there’s no way to test them despite having another hard disk / similar Mac to test it
@@JessiesFlying Hi, thanks for getting back to me. I already went ahead and installed OCLP compiled Ventura and installed onto a fresh drive. The last few steps I found confusing and went round a couple of times (my fault) in order to boot without the USB (in my case an SSD). What I have been busy installing software but the system seems to be running OK. I am getting a prompt that 2 updates are available: Sonoma (not sure I want to risk that) and an update for Safari which includes 'security' update. I don't use Safari. Can I update Safari without starting all over again because Safari requires a reboot?

@@SuperJamesus you can do an update and it will keep your files and data - but I strongly not recommend to do this. I have a lot of trouble on my 2011 iMac with Sonoma! And the newer software will most probably also not work as expected as it’s expecting newer hardware ☝️
This video is great! I have OCLP 1.5.0 on a 2010 Mac Pro works but when I do root patching it does nothing but sits there and never does anything. It does a few steps but just sits there. Is there a reason for that? I'm running Mac OS Monterey 12.7.6.
"I have a 2011 Mac Mini with a 500GB SSD and 8GB of RAM. What can I do with it? Can I install a more updated macOS that allows me to use more current programs?"
I had updated to Ventura 13,6,7 and RU-vid wasn't working on Safari. After the 1.5.0 OCLP it started working again. I can't root patch because it says this: "SystemVersion.plist build version mismatch: 23F79 vs 22G720". Don't know how to work this around.
@@JessiesFlying the problem is that I, stupidly, reverted the root patches installed. I tried to go back into 1.4.3 to root patch but it gets stuck after root patching.
@@JessiesFlying yes, I can. But the functionality of the machine is truly affected. For example, VLC doesn't play videos.
