@@ziggity7851Technically it is a pressurized unit. 2.5 atmospheres is the pressure inside the research platform. The platform has an open hole on the floor to the outside. The air pressure is equal to the water pressure. 2.5 atm means about 50 ft underwater.

Technically the human body has a much easier time surviving lower pressure or even a vaccum for a short while, than enduring high pressure like here.

@1lovesoni not in a vacuum atleast, a sudden vacuum would lead to rupture of your lungs unless you exhale the expanding, and without air in the lungs, you'll pass out within a couple of seconds due to oxygen deficiency to your brain and die within a few minutes. If we talk about a low-pressurized environment like a mountain, you'll be fine as long as you don't ascend rapidly to high altitudes.

As for exhaling expanding gas, that's a rather easily learned response, I've personally had to do that many times as a diver during accent, it becomes second nature quicker than you might expect. I get the theory you're working with but empirical evidence says otherwise.
