I was gifted a Martin HD28 for Christmas in 1994 and I'll never ever forget how excited I was when I opened that case for the first time. I was beyond happy ! The smell of rosewood and glue was very evident. What a glorious perfume !
Thank you for sharing your moment with your new D42. I just loved how you loved it and showed your absolute true appreciation of the addition in your life. You are so blessed to have someone in your life to give you a wonderful gift that will last forever!
How I remember that moment. My first Martin. I got mine at a local store, borrowed the money for it and had to make payments. Later, my wife and I visited Nazareth and toured the factory. A guy was there to pick up his guitar. Same reaction. After touring the Gibson factory in Memphis and other guitar manufacturers, any fool could see the difference. Some of the workers in Pennsylvania were 3rd generation. On the tour, we got to see the care each person took in doing their job. Rib makers at Gibson use tools to carve the ribs. At Martin, they tune the ribs in finer guitars by ear. There's just nothing like it.
Got the chance to try Lowden while vacationing in Galway a few years ago...what a fantastic guitar..beautiful and probably the best sounding acoustic I've had the pleasure to play...I owned an Avalon for a few years (same "family tree" of builders) and have to say that the Irish luthiers make a fine instrument. Just disappointed I didn't make it up to Newtonards to visit the factory. Enjoy your Lowden....I am jealous. 😊
@@chrisgraham847 I do feel I made a great choice and am considering buying another maybe with cedar top, for a slightly warmer tone. I have owned about 30 acoustics, and this 32se is the best sounding so far. Never been to Ireland (yet), maybe one day 🙂
I just was gifted my late friend’s 1997 d42. It needed a lot of work, neck reset, bridge reglue, but when I got it back from martin factory it was like a brand new guitar! A tone machine! Good luck with your new Martin!
Since you sent it to the factory, I know it was right. You should visit the factory if you get a chance. Some of their oldest and most experienced workers are in the section of the factory where they do repairs.
You are one lucky individual. I've bought three new Martin guitars. The d-18 d-35 and hd-28. I had to have all three set up with new strings. Wonderful guitars. I would love to have the d-42 but my hd-28 and d-35 will have to do for now. I have retired since I bought the other two martins and can't afford the d-42. Don't hurt to dream though. Congratulations.
Congratulations! It's a beauty and it is great to see your love of it. I will have a similar joy in a few months with a custom shop 000-42. Enjoy your new guitar!
Man, those Martin guitars is what I call "only in my dreams". All I have is a rare 1975 Pro Martin W-200 acoustic dreadnaught from the law suit era believed to be a D-28 clone.
Hang in there. I thought I'd never own one also. It took over 30 years but now I own two. They're not the more expensive models but I love 'em just the same.
I bought a D28 in 72 at 17 years old for $650. Best investment I ever made. I prefer Ernie Ball light gauge acoustic strings on mine and medium gauge on my Gibson hummingbird.
CONGRATS! I’ve been a Martin fan since I first learned how to play guitar. Since I have a couple of dreads already, I opted for the OOO-42 Modern Deluxe. Unbelievable instrument. It’s a twin to yours. Enjoy!
Happy birthday to you. Steve how does it feel to be moved to a distant second place. I think the expression on the dogs face on the couch explains it all.😮
What a joyful day for you. I wish you much fun with this beautiful guitar👍. I had a Martin D28, some 35 years ago...and made the mistake to sell it....🥴😭. Greetings from France.
Get that beauty professionally set-up. The factory set action is usually high which tends to be loud & proud, but a good set of 12-52 or 53 with lower action makes it playable for us hand-repaired players.
Congrads, I was like that with my all mahogony Taylor 12 fret 12 string.hope you have a lifetime of fullfillment and satisfaction with your brand spanky new D42. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I thought I was the only "crazy" guy who kisses the guitar... Well, I have to say: I AM A BIGAMIST. A '58 "Telecaster" and a '79 "Martin -D 42. These are my WIVES (other guitars I have are just "lovers"). Returning to the D 42, with Martin bronze strings (011-052). When you play it it seems like an entire chatedrale is playing. Gigi Worth ,I wish you immense joy and love throughout your life.
WTH is a D 42 ? I bought myself a Yamaha Acoustic Folk guitar before christmas ! i m still hesitating on opening the case and try it ! Ya, i know , that s crazy ! I wonder if it s still in tune ! now you got me to wan t to open the case and try it ! Thing is i don t know how to play much and i m 67 years old but when i was a teen i had an electric one ! not the same ! i m glad i bought this one. It s my first new acoustic guitar ! 6 months later , it s still new ! lol ! Well i hope you ll enjoy yours ! 🤠
I bought a used one 3 months old back in 2011' I had it laying in the case with the lid open' wasn't gone no more than 5 minutes and when I came back' the cat had peed in the sound hole' I've tried everything to get the smell out' tried getting several different people to put a back on it but they said it'd probably still always have a smell to it.
Gigi has had hand surgery on both hands. She has been performing for her entire life. The strings that came on it are too heavy, the action too high. The Luthier set the guitar up to her specifications.
@@gigiworth5330 too bad. I understand about the action for sure, but with the right set up, pushing down on medium strings shouldn’t be any harder than on lights. Unless she is doing bends. ANYWAY-I know it is personal preference. By the way, I think Gigi’s singing and playing is great! I can’t understand why she doesn’t have more subscribers/views. Maybe posting whole songs would be good. I’d listen! 🎵🎶
Not this one... It took one craftsman 4 months to build this D42 Modern Deluxe. She has a D28, a D21, and a Cutaway that is no longer manufactured. Typical male musician attitude. This is her husband by the way...
