Read the tragic news this week: Hector Babenco passed away from Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He was an outstanding filmmaker and Pixote is one of his best works. May he rest in peace
44 years ago now. I saw the movie when it came out and it really made an impression on me. Apparently the child star of the film came from the slums and was killed by police at age 19.
Outstanding movie by a great filmmaker. A film which is a contemporary of "Pixote" is "City of God" made by another great director, Fernando Meirelles. Both are difficult to watch since they depict young children committing atrocities such as robbery and murder. It is sad to say that in the 30+ years since Babenco made this film, very little has changed about the slums of Brazil.
What do you mean by “Get”? You mean an illegal upload? It’s available and was just restored by Scorsese’s World Cinema Project. You have no right to expect to see it for free. People like you have killed cinema. #SupportPhysicalMedia
@@vittoriostoraro so if I say I'm going to the store to GET some eggs does that mean I'm stealing them or want it for free?? U must have woke up negative 😂
