Boog, a domesticated 900lb. Grizzly bear, finds himself stranded in the woods 3 days before Open Season. Forced to rely on Elliot, a fast-talking mule deer, the two form an unlikely friendship and must quickly rally other forest animals if they are to form a rag-tag army against the hunters.

It's kinda clever how they put the names of the cast on things that directly reference the characters they play, like Ashton Kutcher on a mailbox with deer horns, and Gary Sinise on the sign of a gun shop. Yeah, not the deepest symbolism, but still nice for what it is.

*5:26** - "Man on top, animals on THE BOTTOM!"* I find it funny how everyone tries to cast Shaw as a "misunderstood hero", but guys he practically hunt for sport and not necessity. He may be right about the intelligence of animals, but that doesn't take away from the fact that he's a sociopath.

Yeah, we only occupy the top spot by use of cleverness and technology and even then it doesn't guarantee victory; big animals like bears, tigers and even herbivores like moose or elk can kill a human quite easily even if wounded. Also, I agree with you about Shaw. Hunting for food and survival is one thing, but hunting and killing for sport or pleasure is just out of line.

I’m siding with Gordy. He seems like a very calm guy. Also, I thought how hilarious it looked when Beth saw Shaw’s car, and angrily marched off into the store, and got him really good when he made her mad!! And on another note, if you were the main character who was threatened with being hunted down, yet survived the hunting attempts, how can you relate?

Elliot is animated much differently than the rest of the deer in this series. Smaller, different look, more humanoid. I don’t know how to explain that. I think he has dwarfism and other disabilities, and that’s why he’s unpopular in the herd.
