I like the anime or Japanese anime-style alt arts they were going for for this set, and they did it right! they got actual well known and very popular good artists from Japanese media to put out these pieces so it all comes together even for people who dont love that style at all!
I took the liberty of translating the Japanese. - I'm watching from Japan. I enjoyed watching it with a very cheerful opening video. I'm looking forward to the pre-release.
I'm very jealous. You have opened two cards with the art of my favorite artist in one pack. One of which is foil (the second pack from the prerelease set, Wylie Beckert). I hope that when Kamigawa gets to us, I will be able to open at least one of them from the bundle (I am from Russia, but I collect all her cards in English, which is quite problematic for us)
A lot of Cyan and Magenta in this product. These colors aren't in a rainbow because they technically don't exist, they're artificial minus colours. Fits the futuristic tone. I like it!
Making me feel more interested in the set honestly! Your list pulls make me feel so much better about what I generally get. God they're such a waste of a slot. "Here's a list card!" *Wizards slapping you across the face* "Enjoy something that you didn't know existed and wish you still didn't!"
haha that's a perfect way to describe the list! We've had a couple good hits over the dozens of set boxes we've opened since it started, but most of the time you just have to laugh and move on. Especially on your second or third Yavimaya Scion...
I opened a Phyrexian Obliterator and a Korvold, Fae-Cursed King in the same box. I think there's too much crap on the list to justify the slot, but every so often you might pull something great. There's some nostalgia in it for sure.
I like the flavour especially with you guys presenting it! :) and I didnt mind it being Long at all. Youre entertaining people every one of you! Now for today's big question. What would you rather have? A full art land kamigawa foil or a Forgotten Realms Showcase Mythic? The full art foil land all the way for me
Early next week - collector boxes release officially on the 18th, a week after prerelease starts. Tabletop Giant is a WPN store, so collector boxes come in one week after draft/set, usually. Stay tuned, we plan to open 3-4 boxes in the first week, chasing lottery cards!
Some new cards in the commander precons I'm not seeing online at LGS stores for pre-purchase. Does that mean they might only appear in the commander precons and not boosters? One example is "Drumbellower" in "Buckle Up", it's like a weaker cheaper white version of "Seedborn Muse".
Best info I could find: Eight additional cards with the NEC code (#31/38 to #38/38) can only be found in the Set and Collector Boosters. They aren't found in the Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty Commander decks. Five of these form the New Myojin cycle. So it looks like all of those new commander cards (NEC 01-38) will be in Set/Collector packs, but that deck was fully spoiled about 10 hours ago, and stores likely haven't had much time to list them yet.
Sorry Rafael, the dice is buried at the bottom of the box. Got missed in the hype! It looks like a standard prerelease dice - the fancy one is in the bundle.
Hey Anikan! These aren't free - these are opened (and purchased by) Tabletop Giant, for sale of singles on release day. Yes, we buy boxes just like everyone else 😃
There is so much space wasted on the back of the art cards. I really wish they still added the text for how the cards work on the back, or at least some sort of extended flavor text, or further story telling elements to really highlight the realm or plane. Missed opportunity if you asked me. They are cheap for a reason. People don't actually want them, because they aren't functional, and they do not do enough for the set. Just look at how you react to the Kamigawa lands and just slide the art cards aside. What would make you stop and actually want to look at the art cards just as much as set specific land designs?
100% agree. Right now they're just filler. If (and likely just a matter of time) they add real artist signatures randomly inserted instead of stamps, that will be worth checking. More artist info would be cool too, like other MTG arts they've done, etc.
