I’d love to see you do a build and battle box where you then show us your process of building a 40 card deck from it. Maybe another person could do it with you both can battle with the 40 card decks so we can then see it in action? I’ve gone to two build and battles and it was a lot of fun! But the first one was overwhelming as I didn’t have a clue on how to start building a deck after I opened up my cards. Thankfully I had some kind person next to me to helped me out 🥰
im a super newbie to pokemon (like in general, sword and shield was my first game), i discovered you a few months ago and i just love the way you talk about pokemon and the tcg, its so interesting and now i even understand most of it, by now im so tempted to at least buy a few packs just for the fun of it, love your channel and your videos
Oh! With Volcanion, in the video games hes a fire/water type. He's a volcano boy but he also makes steam or something? And same kind of thing with weavile, in the games he's dark/ice type, so in the TCG they just pick one or the other and they switch it up from set to set
I think my heart skipped a beat when you pulled that Rayquaza, wow! It's great to see stuff like that come from prerelease packs. And I agree, prereleases are super fun. I mostly play Magic, but it sounds like things are similar with Pokemon!
Hey Bou, Watching your videos this year has brought and inspired a great appreciation of PTCG to my life. I've learned a lot about the utility of some of the cards you've pulled as you did your pack openings and it actually sparked my interest in playing. I now have a online and a physical deck, looking forward to playing at my local card store and eventually tournaments. All in all, just want to show you my appreciation and let you know that you are an amazing representative and pillar of the ptcg community. Love the vids, never change, do you Bou
I'm primarily a magic player, but because I have good friends that play pokemon, and since it was significantly easier and cheaper to buy into compared to magic, I started playing a month ago. I sold .02% of my magic collection and went full force on building multiple standard decks. It's so much fun!! I wish I kept my collection from the late 90's 😕 😩
How do you feel about automatic keeps on basic pokemon hands (super RNG and lack of control), no sideboards, and the power level of cards? I also started playing few weeks ago because I wanted a new experience.
I really appreciate the extra mile you go to explain this stuff. I was mainly into the video games and the show when I was younger. I’d buy packs here and there and make trades with friends but I’d just leave the cards in a crappy little binder and never went the extra mile to preserve and take care of them. I think I ended up selling the cards I had collected at one of my parents garage sales when I was around 12 or 13, only now at 18 years old am I getting back into collecting them again. I wanted to learn how to actually play the card game properly because after all these years I never learned how and I found your 3 part video really helpful. I’ve started watching a bunch of your other videos and the little tidbits of information you sprinkle throughout your videos have been really helpful in either jogging my memory of some of the things I vaguely remember or teaching me something that I had no idea was a thing to begin with. I just wanted to say thanks for making such great content, keep it up👍
One way to differentiate between pie and cobbler is through the crust. Pies are encased in pastry, either just on the bottom or on both top and bottom. Cobblers, on the other hand, are simply topped with some sort of baked pastry or dough.
I always love your edits on your videos!!! Very entertaining!!! Love the mat🤩🔥 Noodles is totes adorbs…I may be too old to say that🤣😂 Thanks for the build info Bou!!!
Oh my goodness congrats on the ray!! And thank you for explaining what cards work with certain decks because it's very helpful to me as a person who's dabbled in the tcgo quite a bit!
Next pre-release you should make the deck to show how people can do that. As in, make the 40-card deck and show how to use the cards you pull to augment the sets that come in the box. Also, worth noting that you play with only 4 prizes. Would have been a long video, but it would have been awesome to see what 40-card decks you would make from each of these 6 prerelease packs! My first event was a Sword&Shield base set prerelease tournament and it was definitely the best way for newbies to get into it.
I was so convinced that the Evolving Skies alternate art cards are an illusion and don't actually exist (because I opened tens and tens of packs and didn't see a single one) yet I keep seeing people pulling them effortlessly and I pain.
Awesome Vid Bou!! Glad you got the Ray Ray Vmax even tho the goal card was the V and not the Vmax! 😅😅.. Im that way with the Umbreon LOL.. Vmax is amazing but I actually prefer the V over the Vmax.. Catch ya in the next vid or maybe another raid?? 😏😏.. Much love as always!! 🙏🙏🔥🔥❤
About 16:22 a lot of types that are in the game are just kind of thrown in to other types to fit them in the game, like the big type in video game would be grass in card game form, ice is water, fighting is rock and ground, etc
Im actually super happy about this video! I've been teaching my Gf and her siblings ptcg through theme decks & Build & Battle decks so they get the deck building experience and the full synergy of a deck through theme decks
Fire alt art pull! I actually pulled your goal card in the beginning of this month but there was a tiny white speck in the middle of the back bottom edge... I never went from so thrilled to so deflated so quickly.
lol, my boyfriend said Noodles evolved into Charizard. CONGRATS on super pull!!! Also, I am so excited to do a pre-release tournament. Hoping they start doing them at the lgs I moved near to :D
Also, to answer the question about pie vs cobbler - pie has a bottom, but in cobbler, the dough is cooked with the fruit filling - my mom would use canned biscuits and just put them on top her fruit fillings to make cobber. :3 But really, both are good. :D lol
I see that wooloo deckbox! I really wanted the playmat version but they sold out instantly. Prerelease events sound like exactly the tcg experience I want, everyone slugging with random decks, but it's so impossible to find a store that holds these events. I hope the new online has something like a prerelease mode.
Weavile is a "water" type because Weavile shares a type with ice. "water" in the TCG doubles as ice type, "fighting" triples as fighting, rock, and ground. Dark doubles now as dark and poison. "Psychic" (now) triples as poison, fairy, ghost and psychic. "Normal" type doubles as both normal and the flying type as well. Grass doubles as grass and bug So, for example, that is why a "normal" type card isn't always weak to fighting; it can be weak to lightning because it doubles as the flying type. The same concept is applied to the rest of these. Another example, not all "Psychic" type cards are weak to psychic. Because it triples as ghost, psychic, and fairy, a "psychic" type Florges can be weak to metal because the fairy type is weak to metal. Hope this helps! :)
Im still deciding how to sort my trainer cards. I think sorting by Supporter-item-stadium then sub sorting by Effect would be the way. I dont have much in the way of a deck, i have a “collection” binder and a “deck” binder. The collection is 1 of each unique card and the deck binder is all the Dupes.
So yesterday I pulled an alt art Leafeon out of only 2 packs & today I pulled the Rayquaza vmax alt art out of only 7 packs. Got a couple more nice hits too. My luck is crazy with evolving skies right now
So that Rayquaza VMAX Alt Art just paid for all of those B&B kits and change xD I play a lot, mainly on PTCGO currently. Trying out different things, til I have the means to build them IRL as my local league did start back up with events. Pikachu VMAX, Jumpluff, Single Strike Urshifu, LeonZard. Still working on a Rayquaza list since despite wanting to build it since a bit before the actual prerelease, the VMAXes are proving difficult to get.
