00:00:00 MI v Beverly McCallum 00:00:20 State Opening Statement 00:50:27 Defense Opening Statement #CourtTV - MI v Beverly McCallum MORE HERE: www.courttv.com/news/mi-v-beverly-mccallum-fugitive-wife-murder-trial/?
Prosecutor's opening is very impressive. Very fact filled all the way through. Defense Attorney.....has no defense and he knows it. His opening statement = "fake it til you make it"...and use your cell phone while you do it.
😂 How tacky for the Defense attorney to use a call phone for his notes lol. He basically said that, she may have done it but, if the state makes the tiniest mistake, you MUST find her not guilty.........Geesh 😂
I wonder if knows it’s a lost cause and didn’t bother to waste too much time trying to help build a defense. He’s only there to make sure his client’s constitutional rights are upheld. We’re all entitled to a fair trial and to have our rights protected. Even cold blooded murderers, sadly.
Lead Prosecutor has such a captivating voice, which makes everything he says, intriguing. He definitely won't lose the jurors attention lol. The defense attorney, already looks & sounds like a public defender, who isn't capable of intriguing anyone!
What the hell is wrong with some people? We share this world with some sick, fiendish creatures. I wouldn't do this to my worst enemy. I wouldn't even think about it.
When an attorney has to do their opening statement by reading it from something, you know they're going to struggle 😅 they should already know what to say 😅
I assume it’s when they know they have a losing case. They’re only there to make sure their client’s constitutional rights are upheld at that point. We’re all entitled to a fair trial and to have our rights protected. Even cold blooded criminals, sadly.
This has absolutely nothing to do with this particular case...but i love watching court...the sparring between the state and the defense is amazing to watch.. The prosecutor in this particular case...im not sure if it's his tone or just the way he speaks in general...but he's got a very demanding presence Fascinating watching this play out... Fingers crossed justice will finally be served for robert and his daughter, who had to grow up without her daddy
Scotland does show some big trials but the UK in general might show only the judge during sentencing and we don't see the reaction of the scum. I do worry about how I don't have a man and all I watch at home are true crime shows and American trials...then I'll justify my sad lonely life by saying well if I don't have a man then no one will do these things to me lol. I've created a miserable sad cycle.
What is this defense attorney even talking about? "20 years ago it was 9/11. Nokias were popular. Now that i have your attention, you have no right to hokd it against me if i just watch march madness and build no defense." And reading off his phone. Lmfao this is bizarre
All of you criticizing the defence attorney. There’s very little these attorneys can do when there is so much evidence against the defendant to point that they are guilty. We’ve seen it before. They just throw anything out and see if any of it sticks. Or to get a lesser sentence of either second degree or manslaughter.
With All the evidence it'd be difficult to even find a convincing defense that's legal!! I'd hate that job.. she's stupid to think no one would find her not guilty! I'm very impressed with this prosecutor!! Nice speaking voice.
I’ve NEVER seen someone read DIRECTLY from a cell phone for opening statements! If he can’t remember @ least some of his points he has a long trial to come or is watching it do! The BPD need to reevaluate this clown!
I’m new to this case but what I cannot understand is why Denine, knowing she full on participated in this murder, alerted police to her mom, which would then put them on her trail?
@@sarahbressler5991 I don’t think so. If it were her conscious she would have admitted her guilt. Instead she called to put her mother in jail. Which makes me think she wanted to get back at her mother and was just stupid enough to not realize that she would go down too!
People always remember traumatic experiences/events like "911", "Assassination of Kennedy, MLK", "Covid" so it doesn't matter that you don't remember what you ate yesterday morning!
@@marciaquarle8870 I hope you enjoy it! We’ve had a beautiful weekend here in terms of the weather ☀️ Yes, I thought they were mispronouncing at first as well and then I realized everyone was pronouncing it that way 🫣
You can forget about what time you ate supper 20 years ago, but you will never forget such a horrific incident as witnessing a brutal murder, or finding a dead body. They can’t be compared, they’re not equal, smh.
Judge working on the computer during defense opening remarks - she’s obviously not a sports fan, doesn’t give af about cell phone carriers, and/or G Bush🤣. This defense atty is a loser! Reading his OS from his cell phone is less than impressive! He’s looking at his phone more than trying to gain a rapport with the Jury. I would like to think he is a Court appointed attorney, but, he’s not. I’d fire his ass after OR!
How come the camera technician is in full view from this other angle... Camera crew have to be discreet and not on show..... be it for theatre, live shows or Court cases....!
How come that's all you have to say while learning Robert's passing? Nitpicking makes you feel good about yourself huh? Also, this video is not made for your entertainment or critique.
Thats what they're Suppose to do.. Because it's a fact. Although, jury doesn't have to take it as fact. The Proscuter is absolutely Spot on!! Opening statement is on point and straightforward. It's actually One of the best Openings in awhile.
I guess that Christopher McMillan was the key witness because he does not have anything to lose. He already confessed to his part and was convicted of 2nd degree murder. So with his statement he only could reduce his sentence at that's okay for me . Because he helped the court to detect who was behind of this horrible crime.
1:00:03 the difference is that these witnesses are testifying about the time period around a murder…..asking me to remember some random morning twenty years ago is not the same as someone testifying about what they remember when someone they loved went “missing”……and it doesn’t matter if someone was 8 or 10 or 70 or 80…it’s THEIR memory….someone memory is not right or wrong- it is what it is…what those memories are matter only if they make it negative or positive……I’m not talking about whether it was sunny or raining or morning or nighttime-those are facts that can’t be argued….but the way someone remembers an event is how they remember it- and I think for the jury there will, certainly be more leeway with testimony that refers to events from 20 years ago….but that also applies to the Defendant and her testimony-if there is any.
Ugh. He needs to stop that pattern of,”Chris is going to tell you…” That is so distracting from the interesting narrative. Can’t believe no one has told him this before.
I know this woman she is my mom I love her and miss her so much she didn’t do this to Robert she has big heart dealing with a lot of stuff please set her free God everyone she’s being misconstrued. Sorry for Robert and the family.
@@surpriseimblack the attorney for the State? He looks a little tired since mayas trial but that would be understandable. I aged a bit watching it each day😿 I guess I could look him up. 🤔🤪🤣
Defence Solicitor opening statement...🙄🤦♀️ did he just pick……up the case documents last…….nights as.….he seems to be reading….it for the first…..time! Totally unconvincing, non committed ,insincere and unprofessional.
I am from the UK, living in various Countries, where Solicitor is interchangeable with Lawyer, but not Barrister.( not to be confused with barista ) Not everyone is from USA.
